Back then I kinda always chose the wrong hardware. I had a talent for this. I had a Cyrix 120+ as cpu, which was a copy of the pentium, but not as good. For some strange reason I bought a Riva 128 instead of a 3dfx addon card and had much trouble with it. Graphical glitches, bad performance. Well I could always say I "helped push what would become the future", right? ![]()

G'day!
I've been a faithful PC gamer since 1998.
Around the time when Half Life and Unreal were released, I built my first AMD rig with a couple of Voodoo 2 Cards in SLI mode. (3dfx ruled)
When Playstation (1995) and X-box (2001) entered the market I had some fears that PC games could be in jeopardy, when the finance people took over the gaming industry and started hammering the PC coffin lid shut. Profits before art and dedication.
Every year it's become more evident that Game developers and companies like Electronic Arts.Inc are simply catering for consoles and throwing scraps to PC Gamers.
Instead of implementing the best possible programing for the best possible hardware for today's PC's, we PC gamers are getting shafted by simplified and mostly brain dead console creations and this in itself it is holding back the evolution of Gaming at the same time. It realy sucks!
We need to put end to this trend.
Welcome. I would say we are making a pretty good start here.

Checking in. Thanks for the invite.
I tend to stick to the PC thread and only peruse a few other discussions. It's not discriminating taste, it's just that I only post from work between the hours of 8 & 4:45 CST. But I do that pretty unrelentingly and make no apologies for my spam. I like words.
I've been gaming since the Apple ][+ and like PC games of all kinds, except for teabagging 1st person multiplayer. 42, a web admin/developer/helpdesk/customer service/copywriter/whatever-the-moment-calls-for and I work and game enough that I have semi-permanent carpal tunnel in my left arm/shoulder and thus the DAI controls hock me off. I bought the game to play on the highest difficulty possible with a rogue with tactical combat, 'cause that's what they directly promised. I played for many hours and tried to muddle through before I just gave up. I reached Skyhold twice and no farther.
I waver between believing there's a chance they can fix the controls and believing that they can't fix the controls and believing they won't fix the controls. With no sign of any attitude (like regret or contrition, ala Ubisoft of all companies) that would lead me to believe they are actually going to fix stuff, I uninstalled. While I liked the setting and the characters, the story is generic enough that it's not enough to keep my attention (I read a lot, so...). I was in it for the creative stuff and the mechanics. There are two gentleman at my work that also play DA:I, but on consoles, so I hear things about the story and sidequests, none of which tempts me enough.
I'll stick around until I get invested enough in another game to start posting on their forums. Once that happens, I'll flush the $70 and not think about installing DA:I again. There are a dozen games in my Steam library I got on sale and haven't ever touched. I started Diablo 3 some days ago, having never played it (and 50% off for base+expansion). It is pretty shallow (but fun) and doesn't occupy my thoughts like a normal current-game-obsession.
I also gawk at my best friend who is playing babby's first MMO, Destiny, on PS4. I am having 8-years-of-WoW flashbacks and watching Bungie wide-eyed as they repeat all the same mistakes that Blizzard did and has since fixed. All my friend's gripes are from 2004 or 5! I don't know if it's really amusing or horrifying.
I am also easily amused, easily irritated, and easily distracted. I guess that's warning enough.
Well met!

So it seems to work for me at this time.
Checking some of the post seems like MR Laidlawz the stalker visited lots of other people yesterday.
I reported him, so hope that is what made the pervert vanish :-)

My sentiment exactly, when I read that article. If that is the reasoning, why XBOX? Why not give exclusivity to PC or PlayStation for that matter?

Just installed the new patch before going to work. It now says 1.0.0.4. The walk key works for me and my good old Asus GTX 570 everything on high and some on ultra is banging me between 40 to 60FPS and I am in the village and people are chatting all over the place.
So it seems to work for me at this time.

Are you getting better frame rate than before, or pretty much the same?

I have not noticed any increase or decrease, but the cut scenes were working great for me.
I am using the PC console command instead of Fraps .
All in all I think now Nvidia will have to pump out another driver, I am using 344.75 :-)

Good to know! I am yet to give it a proper test with the patch in place, but I am nervous and irritated by the many bugs reported to have been introduced this time....

GODzilla he sent me an email thanking me for my comment and all that nice stuff and signed it Mike Laidlawz and that is the wrong spelling for his name. I guess he did the same to other people forum.
Just another perv :-)
Maybe he was just being friendly lol. But then again, don't leave your e-mail open in your profile. I never do this and "pervs" are the least of the concerns. With your e-mail, people can try and find out your passwords to internets forums and then try these passwords on something more expensive. ^^
About the name...when he spelled it this way I doubt he was actually trying to pass as the real Mike Laidlaw.

FKING MICROSOFT AND $$$$$$$$$$$
This was the fking last straw for me, I've been giving Bioware the benefit of the doubt for TOO LONG only to have them LIE THROUGH THEIR TEETH LIKE THIS TREATING THEIR PAYING CUSTOMERS AS IF WE ARE FKING STUPID
Crystal Dynamics are doing this with Rise of the Tomb Raider AFTER RELEASING A MULTI-PLATFORM GAME, THEN they have the GUILE to BS TO THEIR FANS - and now... BIOWARE?!!!?!

Exactly! This is why I promised myself that Bioware will not get another penny out of me. Like....EVER!
And mark my words: They are going to try to sell you features that were missing from the game, as DLC.

Well waited all this time for a walk toggle and they fixed some quest bugs I guess. But they have not fixed the dual monitor issue in full screen. So I have to go into the Nvidia driver monitor setup and disable one of my monitors or the mouse sometimes ends up on the second monitor and the game minimizes on the main monitor.
That was annoying, but I found a quick fix for it :-)
It is more of a band aid but makes the game work for me :-)
Too bad dev could not fix that issue even if lots of people are complaining about this bug.
But of course consoles only support one TV :-)

I am convinced, at first I just wasn't going to preorder for obvious reasons but now Bioware would be lucky to get a cent from me, and to do that they have ALOT of making up to do, which will never happen. It's obvious now, where their priorities lie.

Well I always loved the ME series and the DA series.
I am an optimist and I am sure more patches will come out for DAI crossing fingers :-)
But let's say I will not rush for ME4 until it has been out for a few months :-)
But looking forward to Star Citizen that will be for PC only as Chris Robert says NO console for this game :-)

I make sure to at least get the lowest possible price when I preorder. This is a huge benefit of playing on PC as there are many not-so-obvious sources. For instance I use Steam-Trading as much as possible (obviously not for DAI as we are forced to use that underdeveloped piece of DRM software called Origin).
Preordering or not in these cases is a difficult decision. Many publishers fit their games with a "lock" in other countries so they can't be traded or gifted via Steam into other countries.
For instance: Russian games. Russia has a steam-store, too. But prices are a lot cheaper there. So when I trade with russian Steam users I get games considerably cheaper. When the publisher decides to put a lock on games bought in the russian Steam store I'm out of luck though.
Most of the time, during the first days or even weeks games don't have a lock so you can get them from almost anyone from any country via Steam trading and make a bargain. And I'm not talking about a few dollar / euro less, I'm talking about at least 50% price reduction. And that's why I keep preordering games I know I'm gonna play, because when I decide to get them on release day chances are all the cheap prices are unavailable.
