you can't stay angry staring at that, you just can't.

Mods bro, mods, they are the only ones that can save this game. I'm keeping my eye on GreenTea's mod in the nexus, the walk mod is permanent and an essential mod. Love mods and modders, and love games that let me tinker! Sadly, DAI ain't one
I'm truly impressed with what the modders did so far despite no mod support.

@Ashen
By the way Ashen, if you haven't watched it already, here's the steam trailer for Planet Explorers (using alpha 0.75)
So you can get an idea of the graphics, world, creatures (seriously there are SO MANY VARIETIES), but the HIGHLIGHT for me, as a tinkerer, lies from 1:20 onwards. It's fking insane the sh-t you can do in the game.
This just in from Microsoft Windows Conference!

Hey, thanks for the invite. I guess y'all want the basics on me? Okay.
My first MMO was The 4Th Coming, I was a tester and a GM (Game Master) for that early MMORPG when it was pay to play. Free to play ruined that game.
Next was the Sims 1,2,3, and now 4, that's how EA got it's claws into me. It was actually because of an issue with downloading for The Sims that I got into Dragon Age. My reward for spending nearly a year working with EA tech support and, my ISP together to resolve the problem for myself and, every other satellite ISP user was a free copy of DAO plus all DLC for that game.
Next was Rift and Dragonage Origins and 2. I still play Rift now and again, it's one of the few MMOs that are playable on a satellite ISP (ping is 650ms and up, usually around 750-800.) And of course DAI.
Needless to say I'm a self taught expert in working with horrid latency and, minimizing bandwidth usage (satellite is metered service and, trust me 25 GB per month doesn't go far with 2 people and 5 devices using it.) I built the rig I run now, after spending years keeping computers running well beyond their prime. (I have a working IBM laptop that thinks 512K RAM is the motherlode of memory LOL. My old Packard Bell 486 still works, can't even run Windows - DOS only but it works fine for what it is.
I remember gaming in MUDs over the local BBS, before there were graphics to speak of and, before the internet. Yeah, I'm that old, I actually remember the day I first went on the world wide web via Prodigy. We've come a long way since then and, it really hasn't been THAT long. (I was in college then.)
Jackal, I have to agree that it's going to be modders that save this game and, make it a joy to play. EA taught me that long ago. TS4, as new as it is, already requires 1.7 GB of mods for me to play it. (Yeah I'm a bit mod happy.) TS3, well if you had a vanilla game, you wouldn't even recognize that one on my computer it's so modded. DAO and DA2 as well, modded to my satisfaction. Where's my DAI list of runscript commands? LOL

Oh good grief, they are gonna make me get a new OS again aren't they?
I am looking forward to Star Citizen
For PC only, it will not be made for console:-)
Chris Robert is the guy who made the Wing Commander series.
That was way before I was born
But I did see the movie Wing Commander was not bad and I saw some previews of Star Citizen
Looks cool if you are into space sims with a joystick I guess.
For that kind of game I would put some money down on a great joystick
And I am sure there is some kind of role playing to it :-)
Here ya go. http://www.amazon.co...o flight system
Star Citizen does look very promising.

Aye, I still remember my space sim days but sadly they all fell flat for some reason and then ceased to exist. The last one I got into was Freelancer, made - of course - by Chris Roberts. It was incredibly fun and couldn't put it down. SC is still alpha but it's realising my dream that has yet to be realised - flying on a huge starship and being able to walk around it at the same time.

Aye! For me TS3 is unplayable without mods like Overwatch thanks to the consistent routing issues that freeze your game. It's STILL NOT FIXED. I have not bought TS4 and have no interest in it thanks to EA's business practices and being burnt from TS3. Hate to see EA's budget QA at it again with DAI. Slapping the Bioware brand on their title did the trick to get me to buy - NEVER AGAIN.
1.7 GB of mods for TS4? DAMN! lol

Did you have cut scene issues before or was it just at that quest ?
Some people say that Bioware left the 30 FPS cap on the cut scenes, but now they can actually drop below 30 before it was locked at 30.
What video card are you running ?
I've had no issues with cutscenes prior to patch but it could possibly be with just this particular quest? I'm not sure.
I run the game on my customized HP Envy m6-k010dx Laptop.
AMD Elite Quad-Core A10-5745M Accelerated Processor
AMD Radeon HD 8610G graphics with up to 4053 MB total graphics memory
8GB DDR3 1866 SDRAM
7200 RPM Toshiba 2.5 SATA HD

ah, the squeal of a 9600 baud modem and netscape 0.9b . Good days.

Does your laptop have a dedicated video card?
And also a mobile video card in it.
The patch supposedly changed some settings on people hardware
I would check if your settings have not been tempered with:-)
it's actually an APU , which is considered integrated video. My settings are still the same so that's not an issue. I'm not sure what they changed with the patch but my quad is kicking up really hard which it didn't do previously. I'll tinker around some more since I am using a cfg file to give it some specific commands. I think the game just isn't coded very well. I ran Skyrim with over 100 mods at a very solid 30 fps on medium settings, well as Tomb Raider on high/medium settings at 30+ fps. I imagine the frostbite engine is simply misbehaving. I didn't have all these issues on Battlefield 4 except the random crashing which to this day they have not fully resolved.
It does look like the future of good PC gaming is going to be indie developers and modding the bejeezus out of our current "mod-friendly" games.
Mods ... gotta have 'em.
DA:O, FO#, FO:NV, Torchlight 2, TES:Skyrim, NWN, Freelancer, etc., etc., ...

There are some brilliant mods for Skyrim, NWN, and Torchlight 2. Speaking of Torchlight 2, I think I'll go play that for a while.

Oh my gawd!
We were still on dial-up here up until 2-1/2 years ago ... got a blazing 24kb, when it would stay connected.
Finally had to switch to "wireless dial-up" to connect at all and ... you've already heard me complain about that.
(edit for spelling)

If you like Torchlight 1&2 and are on Steam, check out Grim Dawn.
I haven't played TL2 since the update to the Synergies mod, how is it now?
(edit for spelling)
I envy anyone with DSL and unlimited (ore even a 300 GB per month limit. I'll get 150GB in 2016 but, have to wait for them to launch another satellite, and pay for the launch - I pay 180/month for internet and VOIP phone service. OUCH!
9600 baud - wow that's fast, try 2400 being the best when I used to dial into Lompoc BBS. Anyone else do ANSI graphics? I love working out pics.
Oh the thrill he day we actually got 4 colors instead of just one to work with - green, yellow, red AND, Blue on the screen all at once - wheee, we're rockin now. (well we thought we were back then at least.)
Definitely check for setting that got changed outside of the game. I had DAI set to run as admin, that reverted on me with patch 3. In game nothing changed settings wise but, it changed my comparability settings so, it's possible it would also revert to the default GPU w/o telling you it did that.
I think it's funny tech story time. This event was soon after I came back from overseas , and exiting out of the army. I was getting familiar with Captain Morgan that particular day. I decided to experiment with an old 486 DX66 machine I built. It had an ISA slot and I just happened to have a dedicated 1mb cirrus logic video card with a open memory slot to add 1 more.. I put a 2mb stick of standard memory in it, stuck it in the machine and hit the power button. The ensuing flames and smoke emitting from the video card set off my fire alarm with a loud pop. I just sat there and laughed while my workbench started to catch fire from the flaming computer.
... and a belated welcome to DarkAmaranth1966.
Your forum posts are always informative and a good read.

Yeah, I got a chance to try it out on my gf's computer. Grim Dawn is really polished and I loved Titan Quest. The funny thing with Grim Dawn is that it's still really a beta piece of software but I didn't run into any issues playing it. I think they are adding in Act 3 pretty soon. Not too many changes in Torchlight 2. Synergies mod works great and definitely adds value to the game. There are various texture mods that got updated and the game looks better then ever.
Still remember when I was practicising my flairs years ago when I was managing a bar, gaming at the same time (yeah, don't ask). I slipped and I had my case open and the bottle rammed the inside of my PC. Strangely, even after the smell of smoke, it still worked - with loads of artifacts on the screen - but it still ran! Hell was I pissed at my own stupidity.
