R9 290 it is! Going to get it next weekend, strangely even with TW3 around the corner, I'm suddenly in the mode for a space strategy game.

There needs to be a game that can recreate this:

I still remember an old game called "Star Generals", where you could build ships/stations/colonies, train armies and invade planets. I also played Star Wars Rebellion but that wasn't nearly as fun as Star Generals. I need a Klendathu drop... argh!

If there isn't a modern game like this there needs to be one, some devs should ban together on kickstarter or something and fill this demand :(

I loved star general, I loved the whole classic 5 star series, panzer general, allied general, fantasy general etc. I miss SSI.

My wife and I are still packing. Today, I left my ragged, broken lawnmower out on the driveway to load up in my pickup so I can haul it to the junkyard. I came back in to get some more tie-down cords and Debbie asked me to move boxes from out of the hallway into the dining room. No problem. Jack and Suzi (my dogs) get all excited and start barking like crazy. I stop what I'm doing and see my lawnmower in the back of a white pickup barrelling stupid fast out of the cul-de-sac. I don't know whether to laugh or walk around with the Desert Eagle. San Antonio... stay classy.

That was a great movie no matter what people says :-)

Star Citizen will be close to that movie :-)

That game will get deserved GOTY :-)

And they will not need to pay anyone to get nominated like Bioware did :-)

Getting a GOTY for DAI just proves what you can do when you have money and dumb fan boys who do not care how bad it is, they adapt with their consoles :-)

What a major disaster that game is :-)

Hell SC is pre alpha and has less bugs than DAO :-)

Lol should see the day I've had finally got my PC up and running after Windows updates screwed up my OS only for the builders down the road to slice through the power cables while I was installing SP 1 for W7 resulting in the network protocol drivers becoming corrupted requiring a full reinstall of W7.

Must of broken a glass payne or walked under a ladder somewhere :)

Did the W7 updates and did not run into any problems :-)

Maybe it was an issue for some people :-)

Too bad it happened to you :-)

But look at it this way the reformat makes everything go faster :-)

You should use this. http://www.rt7lite.com/  then you never have to worry about installing Windows 7 from scratch and you can fully customize Windows 7 to how you want it.

p.s.  Yes, I use this and I have my Windows 7 on a usb drive with drivers, utilities , and updates all automated to install.

Funny how a game barely out of alpha state plays so well eh?  ;)

Aye, those were the classics, SG was my favorite by SSI, hell I must have played 500+ hours of it.

Any idea of any game like it? :(

I saw "Star Wars: Empire At War" - which featured both space/ground battles as an RTS but it had only 2 sides and apparently rather limited in depth.

I'm also looking at "Stardrive 2" but the ground combat is Xcom/Squad-based, I want epic landings and large-scale invasions on planets (like the Klendathu Drop!)

*sigh*

the only one that comes close, it's a bit dated, and it's more about strategy, not so much about tactics, it's called Reach for the Stars (or RFTS), I still think I have my copy somewhere. it's basically a remake of an even older game (though newer than SG), though they were both good in their days.

Wow, pretty impressive graphics for an old game. Any ground combat? I can't find many screens.

After looking for 2 days for a good 4x galactic civilisation game, I found a ton of new upcoming indies, as well as disappointing attempts. Argh!

There's a kickstarter indie called Flagship which is filling the hole for commanding a massive starship on a FPS scale (I'm looking at SC for more the "Space Pirate/Freelancer" feel, the Constellation starship itself just isn't big enough even for me (unless they are going to have the carriers in the mix)

http://www.spacesect...-your-starship/

Need to scratch this itch!

Waiting for ME3 to finish downloading. It's seems like it's been stuck on 45min remaining for 45min. lol. Quick question. Is the arsenal pack and the From the Ashes DLC worth the ten dollars that Origin wants for  them?

$10 for that?  Absolutely not.  The ending has been revised to be satisfactory so it's fine without the DLC.

grr..   http://segmentnext.c...graphics-cards/

he Witcher 3: Wild Hunt utilizes Nvidia specific technology, including HairWorks and PhysX. Hence, it’s of little surprise that the hardware manufacturer decided to team up with the developer to promote the game.
