that last x-files movie, it was ok, but still sub par compared to the first movie and the series itself... imho. (i'll stop being a sci-fi snob, I promise)

The cast for that I felt was fantastic. The premise of it was alright. I think the fanbase was divided 50/50 on how it was done but I think it did get a lot of folks new to Star Trek interested. I was satisfied but I still think Star Trek Next Generation was definitely the highlight of the series.
Philistine (again lol! first Pokemon and now this?) Startrek original is thge one and only Star Trek! I will hearnothing else. if there is no Kirk, Spock Bones, Scotty and Chekov- it is a mere facsimile of greatness.
Tribbles. Need I say more? ![]()
On an unrelated note, I cannot believe how something so tiny can cause so much havoc in my life lol. Let's just say that the last few days have been a whirlwind of supervising strained inter-species interactions, toilet nreak monitoring, cleaning up after failed toilet break monitoring, and not sleeping. lol! Clearly the 14 1/2 years between Silken's puppydom and passing worked some clever amnesia spell on me because I don't remember it being this hard then!
Thankfully the cats and bunny have agreed to peace talks, there is hope yet!
I might even get to game again soon, maybe...

that makes you a trekkie (fans who prefer TOS), I happen to like TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, and the films (minus the ones JJ made) pretty much equally well, which makes me a trekker.
I know I said... I'd stop being a sci-fi snob, though I guess a know-it-all isn't exactly a snob, or so I hope.
---edit
the very first episode of startrek I ever saw, was the TNG episode with the Battle of wolf359, with the borg. after that, I was hooked for life.
---edit again
I think I was 5 at the time.

My sister's are 7 and 8 years older than me, so I watched Star Trek every Saturday afternoon with them since as far back as I remember. Same goes for BSG original series. I never took to the follow on Star Trek series at all- just didn't have the same magic for me.
But then, I am not good with change. You should have seen me when Daniel Jackson left SG1...and then when he returned, after I'd learned to adjust, let's just say it was neither pretty nor rational lol! 'Twas a dark time indeed lol!
And no, I never took to the follow on Stargate series either. I'm kind of an original flavour girl, I think. Although I did love the BSG remake (after the initial 'Starbuck is supposed to be a BOY!' resistance was overcome)! ![]()

Just upgraded my RAM sticks from 2x2 to 2x4, still looking for a good price for a R9 290X, sunday bargain market was closed today due to rain and storms. *sigh*
8 GB dual channel should be enough for next few years. Haven't noticed much difference thus far with current games ![]()
But oh well, once the new games come out should be set!

TNG had me enthralled. enthralled to the point where I started watching everything, TNG & TOS episodes + the oldschool movies, then DS9 & voyager came along, and took me for yet another ride.
But then, I am not good with change. You should have seen me when Daniel Jackson left SG1...and then when he returned, after I'd learned to adjust, let's just say it was neither pretty nor rational lol! 'Twas a dark time indeed lol!
I never got into SG1, it was just too different from the movie, and I did try to get into it, and atlantis too.

I loved the original, and to a lesser extent the "reboot" a few years later, though the full remake was kick...lower-back, watched the whole thing... 4 times, give or take. the new starbuck is very cool, imho.

Cyan Griffonclaw and KilrB
Those illegal aliens are the people who do the dirty work no Americans want to do
They are hard workers at 5 dollars an hour and will work 16 hour days
This is not a political place and I find that those comments were a bit on the rude side of things :-)
The U.S. is supposed to be the land of opportunity, and remember you were all once immigrants from the UK or France
Diversity is the spice of life
Now go do what those people do and see how long you last
That is my liberal take on right wing thinking comments
Do not be red necks now yall
MatrixGirl,
I was not attempting to be rude, or "redneck", simply stating fact.
An immigrant is someone who enters your country legally, obeys the law, and applies for citizenship.
An "undocumented alien" has knowingly and deliberately broken the law.
Take it from someone who once felt as you do now, yes ... ME.
Canada and (ironically) Mexico both have laws governing immigration and legal/illegal entry.
You should look into how Mexico treats those crossing their southern border illegally ...
My views on the matter changed a great deal once I had a family to support and began to realize how much of my paycheck, that I worked long hours to earn, was going to pay for others who had done nothing to deserve it.
You say they do the jobs Americans won't do. This is not true. Rather, they do the jobs that unscrupulous employers will not pay Americans to do when they can hire illegals to do them for so much less.
You would contend that they contribute to our economy, and again I will say that is not true. Much of what they earn is sent back to Mexico and does nothing for the US economy.
Additionally, most pay no income tax ... so I get to pay it for them.
They can however get food-stamps and other government assistance ... guess who gets to pay for that too?
Further, you should spend 5-6 hours in one of our emergency rooms as you, or your child, bleed profusely while a horde of people who are, probably, not legal citizens of your country assail the hospital staff with complaints about headaches, stomach aches, and colds.
I have done both.
You should also bear in mind that none of those people are going to pay their bills, so you will wind up paying for them in one way or another.
They are killing our health-care system.
One in four drivers on our roads have no insurance ... or driver's license for that matter. Guess who the majority of them are?
Now, take another guess at who the majority of drunken drivers around here are?
Now imagine one of them hitting you. Guess who gets to pay all your bills ... if you live?
There's more ... there's plenty more, but the simple fact is that illegal aliens are not helping our economy, they are killing it.
The US is a land of opportunity for immigrants, like my ancestors, but my ancestors came here legally ... obeyed the laws (mostly?) ... and became US citizens.
I welcome anyone who does so ... ANYONE.
Canada and Mexico both require the same ... or you are breaking their law and will be deported or imprisoned.
For the record, I have done what they do.
Also for the record, my next door neighbors are Hispanic and I couldn't ask for better neighbors.
If either of us need help we know we have but to ask.
... and that's just my redneck side of the matter.
MG, I hope this doesn't come across as a rant, it's not meant to be.
I appreciate hearing your view on the matter, as I noted ... it was once my own.

Got an "invitation" today from EVGA to pre-order a super-clocked Titan X for "only" $1029.99. I have half a mind to e-mail a reply saying I'm waiting for the inevitable SC-2.
On a weird side note, I was looking at the layout of the NVidia VCA's motherboard and wondering why I can't buy a motherboard with that layout and a case to hold it. It has the two CPU's across the front of the board and the slots in a line across the back. Oh well. Probably just another hair brained scheme.

Just noticed some more weirdness. In the system requirements, 24 GByte system memory; 48 GBytes or more recommended. What????
I guess they don't want the users to install these in any weak sister systems. You also need 250 watts of available power for each one you install. That's nothing particularly new or shocking but you may have to mind your P's and Q's if you want to run these cards without problems.

You may also have to have an extra incoming transformer and line installed to your house!

No DLC released yet. I wouldn't doubt if EA is starting to work up some creative contracts to bring back or hire experienced talent. If DAI isn't ready by May 19th or thereabouts it won't ever be ready. That's when EA will want to see DLC to keep the shareholders happy, but really? Who is going to buy DLC for a game that CASUAL gamers are not going to want. Inquisition, unlike their previous titles, has ABSOLUTELY LITTLE replay value. It's a one and done for me. Wile most of us here know that Witcher 3 is going to pretty much pull that audience away from Inquisition, the rest of that audience will be lost to Sword Coast Legends. By the way, when it arrives, I would like to DM a session with four of you.

MatrixGirl, I;m not sure where I got called into the immigration issue. The scumbags I have to deal with are totally American and have criminal records, including some on active probation for felonies. Yeah. My father is a Cuban immigrant (with Lebanese roots) and my mother is from Barthelona, Spain. She met Dad in Cuba and moved during the Freedom Flights. I'm first generation American and I know America is a big melting pot. The best at it! Anyway, if I wasn't clear before... sorry.
Also, KilrB is spot on about our immigration issues here. We simply have too many people coming into our country ILLEGALLY that are draining resources instead of adding to them. We are a dumping ground of refugees from civil wars in central America and for many, the war never ended. I'm not against immigrants. I'm against illegal immigrants. We need new immigrants to keep this country moving forward, but we're using an old and antiquated system and not doing enough as small communities to welcome them in.

Well, Pillars of Eternity is due out in 3 days, and then The Witcher 3 in May and after that Sword Coast Legends. I think at this point, DAI is pretty much irrelevant. I'll probably finish beta testing patch 6 which will be my second playthrough and that will be the end of it. I'm just glad I met all of you here. That's made this journey to Bioware disappointment worthwhile.
P.S I did enjoy SG1 quite a bit but I didn't really care for Atlantis and the ones that followed it.

@Invisible Man I just get this bad feeling that it's going to be Mass Battlefield 4.5 with 5 hours of single player, with most of the resources tied to multiplayer. Of course, the directX error will still be present since they can't seem to figure out why Battlefield 4 or DAI is crashing on Nvidia cards.

I'm also getting the dx crash too, well when i try to play in full screen mode, instead of windowed. I'm using a Radeon HD 6850, i think i said that earlier.

I've been playing all three Mass Effects for several weeks. Each has its strengths and weaknesses. At least it's not like Dragon Age, where the high point of the franchise was the first iteration. I think we can all agree that the Frostbite Engine has severe limitations as an RPG platform. One can only wonder what lessons EA/Bioware has learned from the DAI debacle. One wonders if they learned anything. I certainly have my doubts that EA learned anything. I've said it before and I'll say it again. What the Frostbite Engine needs is a robust, well documented modding toolset. I know that EA is trying to sell the frostbite engine to other developers and you can buy a copy if you have the money. Even a problematic toolset, supported by the developer would be better than having users forced to make their own tools. It's just ignorant and short sighted of Bioware. Is this the same company that gave us the Aurora Engine and toolset? I think not. I know where I lay the blame. How about you?
