Are you saying you never succumb to their sales? I doan beleeeve you lol!
lol, of course I have but it doesn't make them evil. I have close to 200 games in my library but that's 13+ years worth of collecting.

I didn't mean they are evil evil, you nong! Just joking 'hey you have bargains too good to resist and make me spend my money' evil. lol! Funny evil, not bad evil. ![]()
But making me sign in every time I want to play a game I've bought, that's a different story, and why I prefer GOG.

I think I can count on one hand on the games I paid full price on. The games purchased is much larger though since I've gifted a lot of my friends games off the Steam sales, Humble Bundles, and GOG sales. You do know about Humble bundle, right?
*innocent smile*

sign in? Just have Steam in offline mode.
It signs me in every time I start the computer- like Origin and Uplay do. I could use offline with Origin too- but it still irked me. *shrugs* What can I say, it grates on my nerves, in a perfect world I would have discs and load them and never go online at all. Even signing in to the DA server with Origins annoyed me. I'm weird like that I guess, too much George Orwell in my formative years. ![]()
Meanwhile, Grim Dawn. You should have seen the congo train of enemies I was trailing last night lol! Pied bleeding piper I was. At first I foolishly thought I could use them against each other, and then I just decided to see how many I could pick up before they killed me. A lot it turns out. It was hilarious. ![]()
ETA - No, I didn't know about Humble Bundles, and now I think you are evil lol!
@LunaFancy Just have Steam not startup with Windows. It's in settings to adjust that. You really don't want it updating things if you are on metered internet. You only have to let the game you want to play fire up once in online mode and then it can be played in offline unless it's multiplayer. Steam also always gives you the option of starting in offline mode or go online.. Origin forces you to sign in before you can go offline.
I also don't purchase anything from Ubisoft that forces Uplay on me. That client is worse then Origins and gets hacked on a monthly basis. Oh, I did try outcome and it's great. It's a good replacement for Origin client. 5 mb memory usage in Outcome vs 60-180mb memory usage of Origin.
Oh, do you know about Bundle Stars?
Oh, look at all the shiny bargains... *cries* You are a bad, bad Perigrinus, you are lol! ![]()
I'll have to check out the settings then, I avoided all this online business up until I got a PC game for my b'day and had to join steam to load it. That really narks me, when I have a physical disc and have to join up somewhere to play it. Same thing with the physical ME3 disc I bought last year- first taste of Origin that was. Boo! That's when I decided to forget about physical discs and just buy digital. What's the point, you know?

Yes, that's how felt too. I do miss the days of physical copies with nicely illustrated manuals and other goodies.
Bethesda actually did that with their physical copies of Skyrim. You had to load it through Steam.
Aaaannnndddd... now I have the FEAR bundle lol! So cheap! And I've heard such good things about the franchise I've wanted to play it for a while now. And eventually, one day, I'll get to it. lol!
I really need to discipline myself to not buy any more games until I have played all the ones I have now...
(that's your cue for another irresistible link Peregrinus
)
ETA - Oh, manuals I remember those. I miss them. ![]()
Do you know about Green man gaming?
I know a few more but I'll keep those to myself. :>
FEAR 1 is the best one and graphics have held up well. It still looks great.
Ooooh, giving enough to get someone hooked, then keeping the really good stuff for yourself, that's true evil right there, I'm impressed. ![]()
But no matter, I am staying strong, the FEAR bundle is my last purchase until SCL comes out (I can say this since I've pre-ordered PoE lol!). I will be swayed by your pretties no more, Peregrinus! ![]()
From the latest patchnotes:
[PC] Enabled binding of additional mouse buttons for mice with more than two buttons.
Slowly but steadily Bioware is suffering through the "dark ages of pc development" they obviously gotten into and are re-learning once known but now forgotten techniques and methods from the period of ancient g®eek.

(have to cross-post this in pc-feedback, even if they ban me for it lol)

This kinda reminds me of IBM's guide on how to properly clean mouse balls. lol

Manual??? what's that... manual reloading, um... manual flight controls? adjusting settings manually? (lol) ![]()

I outright refuse to purchase digitally.. I have, but i always try to go physical if i can help it.. case in point. I own all of the Dawn of War 1, and 2 games.. If i got them online, i would have never remembered where, and theyd be lost to me.. Ive been through 3 computers since.. I have a few purchases through steam, psn, gamestop app, amazon, etc.. How is one to remember all of this? And the day they shut these sites down, its no longer mine.. No one will care if theres only 200ppl left playing Dawn of War 2, and the servers go down for good..And ill be SoL.. I always buy physical! Not t mention, the collectors edition bull crap.. How am i paying another $50 for "digital" art books, sound tracks, dev talks, etc?!? I want to own the Book, Display the statue, have a disc of the soundtrack.. Guess im old fashioned, but i have no delusion that these sites/servers will always be available for me, if in the future i decide to re download these items...I still have my Doom, and Diablo 1 discs from 1995, lol
Completely agree about this horrible 3rd party intrusion crap.. Uplay, and Origin are both garbage.. Steam is enough imo, and i dont even want that.. But atleast it has some pros to it.. I much prefer to just have them on my desktop, than in steam/uplay/origin/wth ever else things there are!
Im still holding off on PoE.. Ive learned my lesson of pre orders, or release day purchases.. Im too poor to gamble.. I can wait for bargain bin stuff.. I dont do Multiplayer stuff, so 6months+ later doesnt bother me.. Plus, im not sold on it.. Its definitely sold as an old school rpg, but idk.. It kinda looks old at the same time..
@Rizilliant I understand where you are coming from. I have all of the Warhammer Dawn of War series on cds, well as Dragon Age Origins and entire shelves of other PC titles. But, I don't think Steam is going anywhere soon and of course, there is GOG. All of their games are DRM free so you can back all the games you get digitally from them on DVD or blu ray disc for backup.
If you search diligently at Steam, you can find directions for installing a game you have on disc from the disc. However, you are still in for updates out the ying yang because your disc copy has never been updated. lol. It's damned if you do and damned if you don't.
Yea i was aggravated about so many games no longer releasing manuals.. Even when i buy a used copy of a game for my ps3 or something, i always make sure to ask "make sure its got the book with it", lol..
I just dont see how a digital version of a collectors edition can be comparable in price, to a physical copy.. Artbooks, soundtracks, behind the scenes footage, making of, etc.. All online, vs. actual pamphlets.. Blasphemy!!! XD
I don't buy the collector's editions, but if I did, I'd want physical copies too.
Where I live, the nearest game store is a half hour drive and they don't carry much PC stock, and certainly don't match the on line sales price wise. Plus, it's a storage thing, like with physical books.
I was slow to pick up a Kindle, but now I love not having to find room for more books Ashen's paperback recs aside *shakes fist*), now I feel the same way about games. ![]()
But I have 200GB/ month data so downloading is only an issue due to speed for me.

Did you like Anubis' Gates, dear Luna?
According to this article, the X-Files is coming back for a six part series with Mulder and Scully.
Time to pull out my X-Files collection and watch them all over again! Bile dude and fluke man shall lurk in the shadows once more lol! *shudder*
I'll take Californication instead. That was a funny comedy series on Showtime.
I have a whole case of old games and their manuals on Flppy and CD from the late 80's to present. I always buy a physical copy. The only reason I have steam is because when Skyrim came out I had to register my disc on steam, then the dlc now only come digital. Same with Origen I only set it up because I needed to update the game after it was released on the old origen/bioware accounts, then the dlc were only digital as well. In Fallen earth (my MMO) I also have the original disk, so when the official game closes down, I can still play it(assuming someone has a server open for it. My old Might and magic games have whole books for the manuals, some came with hats, handkerchiefs etc, I love those, but digital stuff is just not that great.
