I got PoE on Steam, too. It's the same price anyway and Steam has become more to me than just a DRM and shopping-platform. It's a community, I've got most of my friends there and when I'm at the PC I'm usually online in Steam. ^^
I've been on steam for 12+ years now and I have yet to have a unpleasant experience with it. But with that said, I always check with GOG first. What a bunch of honest , optimistic , and genuinely nice folks over there at GOG and of course DRM free.
Wow, you've been on Steam since day one. Impressive. Up until the release of Half Life 2 there was little reason for me to get Steam, hence my counter says "10 years of service". ^^

Yep, I was there at the beta stages, and when people were naysayers to Steam's DRM plans. It has grown a lot since then.
So...just finished Shadowrun Returns. It was a blast for such a "tiny little" game. Now I have only two regrets:
That I did not yet buy the sequel. And me deciding against backing the third game on kickstarter with the reason for not having even played Shadowrun Returns.

I'm playing DragonFall right now. Jackal was correct in that the sequel is even better written/paced then initial offering. Can't wait til Hong Kong comes out. 
*update* I'm totally addicted to the story in DragonFall. wow! It's stellar stuff!

I added ME 1 years ago to Steam when I bought it... then ME2, then ME3 on Origin (because it didn't sell on Steam)
Ok. Witcher 1. Can't even get past the tutorial on Medium. Either I'm doing something wrong, or I wasn't made for this type of game. Maybe I should stick to the NWN/DA type of games.

I don't even remember there being a tutorial on Witcher 1 ... but it's been some time since I played it.
Don't give up on it, it's quite a fun game.
Couldn't get past the tutorial on Witcher 2 myself (unkillable wizard), but it is optional.

@Notker_Biloba Welcome to the group! I thought I would poke my head in and say hello. I just finished my first playthrough of ShadowRun Dragonfall. Tremendous experience. I'm eager to play through with a different class now. It's pretty cool how much the game has evolved from Shadowrun Returns.
@KilrB @Peregrinus -- Thanks for the warm welcome. Been on since page 207 (#5164), still making my way through the intro thread (p79). Learning about gaming and computer builds -- and some freaky interesting characters! Keep up the good work ... May drop to low difficulty on Witcher 1, but I feel very silly doing that. I play all my DA's, NWN's, etc. on the hardest difficulty and mostly do not die ... mostly.

Yeah, Witcher 1 is rather unforgiving when it comes to difficulty. It's low difficulty is normal, normal is hard, etc. It was actually a point of endearment for me.
Games overall these days seem to have forgotten that a challenge is a bonus, not a barrier in it's appeal.
I do think some games like Dark Souls go a little too far in it's difficulty niche though.

GOG is awesome - I've worked with some super nice people there.
They have a new thing now where you can reclaim some of your games as long as you have the original key. I'm sure they'll be adding more games to it as time goes on. I keep a page updated with theirs and other deals here, if you're ever interested in coupon codes or sales and stuff. I get advance notice on a lot of sales.

It seems I never registered my Mass Effect from Steam with Origin.. I just did that, so we'll see if it shows up here in a bit. There's no way to register it in the old BSN entitlements page, so that has to be where it's pulling the registered games from.
For anyone wanting to know how to do that, go into your Steam library and click the game on the left. On the right menu there will be an option for "CD Key," click there and you'll get a window with your Serial #. Copy it to your clipboard then use it in "Register Game" in Origin.
Looks like it worked! Log out of the forum then back in, and it shows up

I recently started the game for the first time so I kind of feel your pain. 
Are you watching the icon that opos up over your opponent? You have to hit when it tells you to or you'll be too slow/quick. Feels weird as hell at first but after a little while you get the rhythm and it's easy as from there. And then there is the mode selection for the kind of fight you're having, don't forget to toggle that- again, confusing as all hell at first but once you get the hang of it it's pretty cool.
If none of the above refer to difficulties you're experiencing...well it just goes to show that there are many and varied ways to have trouble with the game at first lol!

I think that was totally it! If you mean the little orange arrow-looking thing that occasionally appears right after your initial strike? That seemed to work pretty well -- kept him on his heels and he could not counterattack. It was a little weird, as you say, but I managed to whoop his A$$. I think the tutorial could have been a little more forthcoming with that. This is so different from the RPGs I normally play. Maybe it's more intuitive for other folks. Closest thing for me would be ME, but in that one you just aim and shoot, and fire off powers and whatnot. We'll see how this progresses, now that I can actually progress ...
