Nobody is bailing out ? right?...I mean, right? where is everybody these days?
Still here, not going anywhere any time soon.
Just not near a computer as often as I was.

Good then! By the way, PoE is spectacular. Everybody in this Group should try it. Every time I try to find fault with it, there is some subtle element that proves me wrong or even a glorious quest to counterbalance an average one.
I'm really impressed.
@Ashen Nedra I guess everyone is busy dealing with real life. I'm dealing with some personal drama here myself. *sigh* I hate those.
I had the couch monkeys for the Easter weekend. No big deal except their parents came along. lol

It is indeed.
I'm still here, just under the weather again... so I've rarely gotten off my sofa the last few days.
Hope you get better soon. I've not been doing so great myself. These drastic weather changes are going to kill me.
I'm not sorry to say that I'm as healthy as a roach. I hope you folks feel better soon. I hate being sick.
In the meantime, I'm trying to go on a buying moratorium to save money for my next big computer build. I really don't like buying this stuff piece by piece. I'm hoping that the prices of some of this stuff will meet me in the middle, so to speak. lol
I'm up to page 119. Some folks are talking about Freelancer, so I checked it out on youtube (https://youtu.be/1NFl8Yn7guE). Looks pretty good, for 2003! The script and voice acting is actually fairly good.
But then they had to link Star Citizen for comparison (https://youtu.be/sbZLbb0_RBI). Oh man, that looks good. I've never really played that kind of game, but I gotta say, I'm intrigued.

They are both very different games, so you can either chose which one fits your style best or you could probably also play both, one after the other or in turns.
Freelancer is a free-roam "find your own adventures" kinda game. There are a few restrictions at the start but bit by bit you unlock more planetary systems, you make money by trading or head-hunting. Story is there, you can pick it up at any time or just leave it be, but at some points you need to advance in it to unlock the next part of space. Plays best with mouse and keyboard btw.
Starlancer is a single-player, mission after mission kinda game, story-driven, with many cutscenes. It is more like the old Wing Commander games. I found the story and the missions to be very tense, though there is a bit of cliché in the overall background (it's basically cold war in space, evil russian coalition versus good american alliance
). Plays best with joystick (dunno if mouse is even supported).

Wuahhh....what did I do? I mixed up these games. I will be banned from ever playing scifi again for this blasphemy. My life is ruined!

LMAO, @GODzirra. I can't help myself. Every day I'm gonna finally finish ME3 or play some ME2. I always wind up playing ME1 all doggone day. It's a conspiracy.
TBH I probably don't want to play Mass Effect 1 ever again. Not only did I already play through it at least 4 or 5 times, but there are some features I never wanna see again. Like the absence of an enemy AI. They just mindlessly come at you. And there is also no real cover system to make up for this.
Then there is the abysmal inventory, this endless boring list of designations. Meh.
I still consider it the best Mass Effect game, even by a longshot, but only "in its time" so to speak. It was great back then. New, original, just awe-inspiring. I wish I could wipe any memory of that game and experience it like for the first time lol. ![]()
The two "Lancer" games were pre and se quel, but I don't remember which is pre and which is se ...
I played them both and although I never finished Freelancer I honestly believe this to be a pure marketing thing. Those games have nothing in common save for the general scifi scenario. If there was a linking historical backghround I must have mised it. There were no similarities in design or other visual aspects as far as I can remember.
/edit: Re-watching the Freelancer-intro cleared things up. Yes, you're right, Freelancer takes the scenario from Starlancer as ancient background. The war, that in the story timeline of Starlancer did end with a victory for one side, is said to be raging on for another 100 years in the Freelancer intro. At the end, several colony ships started to find new space to settle, away from the endless war.
But then the similarities end, really. ^^
Having trouble finding Freelancer. Steam, gog, even Origin -- no dice. $20 on Amazon, that can't be right for a 12-year-old game. Any tips?

$20? Sounds about right, I think I paid $17 for a copy thru Amazon back in January.
If you want something newer, and better looking, and not still in development (but more expensive) take a look at Elite: Dangerous.
An alternative might be Starpoint Gemini 2, again on Steam, however it's not a first person simulation ala Elite or SC but more like EVE.
Bah, you want a oldie but a goodie. Get Freespace 2. great space sim.

Looking at the demo (https://youtu.be/dRqn0hzoy4c), they're saying
Mouse controlled flight is an absolute nightmare in FS2. Basically you point where you want to go and the ship moves into that direction. I'm sure that with practise it gets easier but FS2 is from an era where flightsims were played with either a joystick or not. The only space shooter I am aware of that had good mouse control was Freelancer.
Hello all! This is my first time really participating on the forums for Bioware. I'm getting tired of saying stuff about the games to friends and family and no one has a clue what I'm talking about. I'm hailing from Georgia in the States although I lived in Somerset for 11 years prior and the great northern states before that. I've been a big gamer for a very long time. Mostly Final Fantasy, Zelda when I was younger. Moved up to ME and DA games after that sprinkled with some Battlefield and Call of Duty. I've been mostly on Steam but a year or two ago I redownloaded DA2 on Origins and I've been here more than Steam now. Although DA O and all my ME games I have through Steam.
I'm on my sixth playthrough in DAI. I haven't hit boredom yet and I still clap at the big scenes. So glad I'm alone when I do that.
I figure at this rate, I'll play myself out of DAI just in time for the new ME to come out.
Nice to meet you all. High five to PC gaming! Double high five to Bioware!

Last night I tried playing through DA1 and made it about 10 minutes into the game before I turned it off. I was fine switching between DA2 and DA1 prior to DA3 but now.....I couldn't even remember what buttons to press to attack and once I did, it felt awkward. I think before the new ME comes out, I'll replay them all so I don't run into the same problem. Seriously can't wait for the new one. Goodbye life!
I see that NVidia wants another chance at my graphics settings in DAI. Not Happenin'. But thanks for tryin'.
Just finished ME1 again. Maybeso I can now play ME2 all the way through again, then finish another ME3 playthrough.
Maybe not. Who knows?

If you or anyone else on this board want to do some ME3 MP, we can maybe start a thread for pick-up games. Been a while since I've played, but it would be fun to get together with some of you peeps and blow away some baddies. ![]()
