It's been a few days since I've checked in with you folks, I'm still having sinus trouble, however... Just thought you guys should know that I've been hospitalized for bloodclots again, hopefully it's a minor issue.

Hopefully?!?

Let's not leave it at that.

We're all of us having problems it would seem, but blood-clots are serious business.

Let us know soonest, and let us know if there's any way we can help.

For those who haven't gotten the ME trilogy, it's currently $10 at Amazon. Mass Effect Trilogy [Online Game Code]

it's been a few days since you posted this, I hope you are on the mend. I always worry when one of you posts something like this and then we don't hear from you for a while  :(

I won't be around for a bit myself after next week, as I'm going in for surgery. It's supposed to alleviate nearly life-long pain so although recuperation will take a good long time, it's for the best. I think I'm going to start another playthrough of ME since I'll be stuck in one spot for a while.. otherwise I'll start grumping on twitter or something, which is never a good thing :P

Since many of you are liking PoE, maybe I'll give that a shot while I'm down.

Not sure why, but someone left an open bottle of champagne in the fridge -- half full!  Nothing caps off a hard day's work like a few glasses of bubbly and some ME3MP.  (:

I'm back. Normally I don't keep my friends out of the loop, but I had trouble using my phone after day one at the hospital. Now the health update... I've had my medications swapped out, but I also had a colonoscopy. Basically I don't have cancer yet, but my colon is a ticking bomb that needs to be removed. I'm having the operation in a month.

Hang in there, my friend.

My aunt and some other members of my family had this kind of surgery. It's tough but works quite well to prevent cancer.  Treatments and post-op care improved greatly over the years to ease suffering and facilitate life after such removal.

I don't know whether this will help but know that you can talk to us about it anytime you feel like it.

I am such a tool. I allow Elhanan and Githcheater to incite me.

Since Boogie brought up the revenue-sharing issue on mods, I thought I would bring this up:

good luck, and take it easy. I think I might checkout PoE too, well when I have cash to spare that is.

---edit

there is one thing that is troubling me, I still have a clot in my leg. the amount of anticoagulant in my bloodstream the last 2 years or so... it should have made that impossible.

I'm loaded with games to play, ATW, PoE, WL2, Arma 3, PE. I wonder if I have room for TW3...

Btw guys, if you like tactical shooters in an open environment try Arma 3. I had my eyes on it but wanted to wait until the campaign is finished/polished before I buy it (it was on early access, it's one game I didn't want to beta test). It has blown my mind away. (Imagine Operation Flashpoint - first one - x10)

The stances are incredible in this game (and you'll need them to not get shot), you can tiptoe, bob head down while standing or crouching, lean around corners, and more - so much control! Modifiable weapons, different scopes/sights, and tons of vehicles to drive and fly! Not to mention a mission editor that lets you set up missions within minutes.

I have not crashed or frozen or found a bug YET. AI has a few issues at times but is mostly competent. It's a thinking man's shooter, alot of the time your patience will be tested, and spotting is more important then shooting. Also, you will never have to worry about it being consolised - the devs themselves have ruled it out publicly, like SC.

Seriously, these European devs are stepping up; CDPR, Larian Studios, BIS. I don't know if they can even be called "Indie" anymore.

Pillars of Eternity, Divinity: Original Sin, Wasteland 2 and the Witcher series... brilliant RPG games. Brilliant. All these guys found a winning formula that Bioware had and evidently lost. All of these games look and feel like the Baldur's Gate era of games. This is what I want from RPGs. I just wish the whole environment was much bigger like it was in Origins or even in Inquisition. Where EA stunted the growth of their franchises, I only have positive feelings for these guys to make that graphical leap without compromising true RPG elements. I thought Bioware was doing this... Baldur's Gate to Neverwinter Nights to Star War: Knights of the Old Republic to Dragon Age: Origins. I stop there because everything after Origins became less of an RPG and more of action hack and slash mashup.

Remastered and mod-friendly State of Decays from Undead Labs will become available tonight. For those who love the post-apocalyptic nightmare with an action combat system (playable with a gamepad and mouse, but joystick preferred and available in-game with M&K controls) and an emphasis on resource management along with repurposing homes, shops, etc. as outposts. It was everything Inquisition tried to be... and failed. State of Decay, it is worth the money. $30... full version including two previously launched DLC. $30. Not $60 for something incomplete. 1/2 the price, 1100 hours of gameplay (and no beta testing included... none.)

Man, this Steam "charging for mods" news is hitting everywhere, in EVERY moddable game I'm playing. Hell even in Arma 3 modders have pulled their stuff from the workshop and reuploading it elsewhere.

Neverwinter was fun as an RPG but I was disappointed with removal of party tactics except on multiplayer. DAO I was anticipating for years as the "spiritual successor" to BG, the masterpiece I played countless times. Now the franchise is destroyed for me. I like deep RPGs, or action games with strategy/tactical elements (always a fan of hybrids), or games with moddability.

EA's going in another direction; simplifying games so they become slash-em-ups, and remove moddability. When it's too simple it's a brain dead experience for me. In the end I'm just not the market they are targeting it seems. X-Com reboot did a splendid job streamlining elements without sacrificing the depth of gameplay (either than the geoscape gameplay), and should be a case study for game developers.

I play games to switch me off from work and other real life headaches. Not something to just keep my hands and eyes busy. Like hell, I grew up with FPSs; Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake, Unreal (The game that spoiled me with its level editor/moddability)... yet I have not one COD title ever since the Infiltration Mod for Unreal 1 (the early days of sights on guns, crouch/prone positions etc, realistic infantry combat), then later - Operation Flashpoint, now Arma 3. I wonder what they call my market...

I would probably give Neverwinter Online a shot if I didn't have a data limit.  It just feels like too many games are emphasizing some sort of online activity.  I've noticed this out of gaming context as well.  I suppose that's why twitter and instagram type apps do so well.  I actually prefer forum discussions, emails and single player games.

What a greedy bunch at Bethesda.  45% of mod revenue to them, 30% to Valve and 25% to modder.  Good thing it got shot down.  It should have been set at 70% to modder, 15% to Valve and 15% to Bethesda.. sheesh
