At PAX South, Bethesda kept Fallout 4 under "Guess what I'm saying..." sort of thing. All I know is that the world is going to be remarkably different being that there will be a very strong distinction in areas. In Fallout 3 it was centered out DC. The world is a gray wasteland except for a beautiful area tucked in Oasis. Of course, the DLC took you all over the place, but nothing very distinct (except Mothership Zeta). Also, they talked about the engine's refinement after NV.
One guy said it was easy to break things if you're not aware of all the dependencies. I guess he was referring to Obsidian (Snort!). Fallout 3 was a buggy mess, but thanks to FREE MODDING... I played the hell out of that game... without too many CTDs or weird bugs. The in-game console is absolutely brilliant. After my umpteenth playthrough, I customized bat files to improve BoS patrols... modav energyweapons 83... setav critchance 100... and you watch the BoS incinerate Enclave patrols to ash.
Three Dog tweeted out that he just did some new lines to accomodate the main story line... so that means they're wrapping up the project. 2nd casting usually means its wrapping up all the spoken lines needed. From my experience, 2nd casting calls usually means the game is officially almost polished for last round QA.
Someone asked if groin shots are back in and one guy just shrugged his shoulders. My meaning... the dork never played the original Fallout 1 or 2.
I heard it was very similar to Fallout 3/NV and that this could be the last Fallout for a while that is single-player. Someone talked at length about the crazy legal battle that ensued with Interplay about Fallout Online and Bethesda has the keys to it now. So... Elder Scrolls Online meets Fallout Online V2.

Wait what? FO4 going to be an MMORPG? No way! I don't think Bethesda is that suicidal. Besides Zenimax the parent company developed ESO and I've distanced the game from Bethesda.

wouldn't be surprised at this point. Lot of poor decisions coming out of Zenimax these days.

It seems endemic to all the so-called "AAA" game publishers of late.

Sorry Jackal... Fallout 4 will be most likely the last single-player game made by Bethesda. Obsidian may get their chance to make another Fallout single-player campaign or more, but Bethesda, is done with single-player campaigns after this installment. Fallout Online (FoOl) is supposedly already in development using the engine that powered Elder Scrolls Online.

I'm loaded with games to play, ATW, PoE, WL2, Arma 3, PE. I wonder if I have room for TW3...
Btw guys, if you like tactical shooters in an open environment try Arma 3. I had my eyes on it but wanted to wait until the campaign is finished/polished before I buy it (it was on early access, it's one game I didn't want to beta test). It has blown my mind away. (Imagine Operation Flashpoint - first one - x10)
The stances are incredible in this game (and you'll need them to not get shot), you can tiptoe, bob head down while standing or crouching, lean around corners, and more - so much control! Modifiable weapons, different scopes/sights, and tons of vehicles to drive and fly! Not to mention a mission editor that lets you set up missions within minutes.
I have not crashed or frozen or found a bug YET. AI has a few issues at times but is mostly competent. It's a thinking man's shooter, alot of the time your patience will be tested, and spotting is more important then shooting. Also, you will never have to worry about it being consolised - the devs themselves have ruled it out publicly, like SC.
Seriously, these European devs are stepping up; CDPR, Larian Studios, BIS. I don't know if they can even be called "Indie" anymore.
I have ARMA2, but haven't really gotten into it yet.
The controls seem very complex and the driving, well I have a hard time of it.
These two videos you've posted though definitely have #3 on my radar.

They are very complex, hench why you can bind double-tap, hold ctrl/shift/alt to all functions and even allow them to overlap. I played the hell out of Operation Flashpoint so I found it easy to adapt back, that's the compromise of so many features, like SC lol - you need to play around with the keyboard bindings. Turn on freelook for driving and use WSAD, that's what I do, it's easier.
Here's my controls for A3:
WSAD - standard
QE - lean left/right / roll left/right while prone
Z - walk toggle
Shift - Sprint
Alt - Hold free look
Double tap Alt - toggle free look (All these irrelevant if you have Oculus Rift)
Double tap Ctrl - lower weapon
X - Crouch/Stand central stance /Swim up/Throttle up
C - Prone/Crouch central stance /Swim down/Throttle down
Ctrl WSAD - adjust stance up/down/left/right (THIS IS AWESOME!)
Shift V - Deploy weapon/bipod/stabilise weapon on surface
Ctrl V - Step over
Ctrl C - Sit down
V - Nightvision/Thermal toggle
L - gunlights (I never use for obvious reasons!)
I - Inventory
Ctrl RC - switch Ironsights/scope
Hold RC - Focus (zoom in)
Tap RC - Bring up sights
I'll probably streamline it more as I play but so far I found my current controls fine. Now unless you're fighting in a city (CQB), most of the time you'll be trying to finding a good firing position for you or your squad so its much less twitch gaming and more strategic/tactical. Sometimes even on open plains, you have to pop your head out from the grass for up to 2 seconds to take a shot, then go back to prone and roll to displace before you get 50 bullets (or a grenade) on your location. It's survival!
In campaign, some hints to help: Always bring an AT guy, if the AT guy dies, grab his weapon, even if it weights you down. Spot first, then advance.
BTW the island of Altis is fking amazing to explore, it's so detailed. I would recommend TPW mod + CBA to add ambient life/civs and such to your missions. I spend most of my time in my editor, making and deleting missions in a sandbox environment and make my own story. Right now I'm an AAF soldier with my super squad helping the resistance from CSAT and NATO invaders, stealing their choppers/vehicles in the middle of the night and run before the enemy discovers me. Last battle I made I was defending the hill against 3 armored platoons (12 tanks) and 3 infantry companies (300 troops) after the enemy took a city. Shelling the hordes the help of artillery lol! The editor is so easy to use you can make a mission, play it, update the map yourself and make a new one. Like flashpoint. What to do something in a mission, just goggle! Though sometimes I just kick back and drive/fly around Altis, it's just a great world to explore even with nothing to shoot!
And yeah, you can slingload! With the heli DLC that is. The thing with A3's DLC is that they give you all the bread and butter features free, but for the icing (to fly the new helis/use the new guns) you pay. It's very generous in my opinion.

My beloved Spurs were defeated by the Clippers. Curse you insanely talented Chris Paul. So... another offseason and this one is going to be heartbreaker unless the Spurs pay a luxury tax (and they sound like its reasonable) to keep Duncan, Ginobili, Leonard and Splitter on the roster. They either retire or play as a Spur, as far as I'm concerned. They still have it.

Wow. Patch 7 broke the game for me. I updated to the newest drivers for State of Decay YOSE and now Inquisiton is unable to run past 5-6 FPS. I'm done. These clowns break more than they fix. It's embarrassing.

He did a 180 from his original posts to now. He used to apologize for Bioware and now sounding harsher than the people he flamed.

I haven't at all, but Origin kept insisting on a patch update. Once it was done, I discovered that the game at Patch 2 ran best. At least then I got through a playthrough even though there were missing keybindings (like walk, good grief.)
A perfect representation of what I saw the other night.

What is happening on the DAI front anyway? What has EA/Bioware done thus far? I wonder if there will be a reason to reinstall the game this year.

According to Cyan, latest patch has broken things for him. I think black emporium is being added and the multiplayer stuff. I really don't think they have any intent on fixing or modifying pc controls. I haven't really even thought about DAI. I've been occupied in RL, and slowly playing through PoE.

I guess it's been really quiet around here. I've been living in a very rural area away from civilization for a few months now but it certainly feels a lot longer. It's like time moves slower and it's given me perhaps too much time to ponder about subjects that I should probably avoid. Few good things did come from 2014. I found this forum full of people with like minds, I reconnected with family after 20 years of separation but the void I thought it would fill only widened. Anyhow, that's my state of mind right now. Part of my mind tells me "adapt and overcome." and a another tells me something completely different. What's going on with everyone else? You are all missed .
