I hope Marvel gets full control over Spiderman soon. I say this because I was watching Amazing Spiderman 2 and it sucked donkey butt.

Downloaded and activated the Black Emporium today. Not overwhelmed or underwhelmed by it. It is about what I expected, TBH. Nothing epic and nothing horrible. This just in. The Battlemaster Mail is still ugly. The Battlemaster Coat is still meh. The Battlemaster Armor is still Sturdy unless you can figure out how to make the Superior appear in the Whispering Wastes. Not worried but not dancing for joy either. I can buy a bunch of crafting materials I don't really need and a few weapons schematics I also don't need. The mirror still can't make black hair Black.

Arma 3... I just went on an airbase raid, sniped all the pilots before they got into their choppers, artillery striked their tanks with laser guided munitions, thought the area was clear, ran ahead of my squad and got shot by a straggler hiding in the bush while he was trying to run away! ![]()

The entire Shadowrun series has been great. This team gets what RPG is and it keeps improving .

I changed the Post Processing to Low instead of High and bam! That was the issue. I still crashed after my first skirmish when Cassandra asks me to put down my weapon. To be honest, I'm really beginning to despise this game and EA/Diceware. Watching all those promotional videos and the promise this was designed with PCs as their focus, just really ticked me off. It's not so much all the promises they failed to deliver on at release, but the stuff done to sell this game is where I've had it. No wonder Darrah abandoned the thread... he can't keep his promises because half of what he says is just plain PR speak.

I wasn't. This last post was edited, quite nicely, by the way, by Mod07. I got another warning. Yeesh. I forget that some words that I use are not really politically correct in my neck of the woods. Bull**it is a strong, but not frowned upon here. Of course I work with leathernecks, surveyors and parolees. Anyway, thank you Mod07.

Friends,
It's been a while since I posted here. I've had a very tough week and adjusting to life in new surroundings is not simple when you include two dogs (one is a gray muzzle of ten years) and a wife who is used to certain standards. I also accepted another contract that puts me in a very, very, very remote portion of Texas and living in a Studio 6 for several weeks at a time. It's only temporary, six months and then I'm going to take just about anything to stay near home. I'm applying at places like HEB for their benefits. Anyway, I'm here to write my post that I promised on May 19th. I'm breaking it down daily so I can edit and add or subtract topics to fit the point of the post.

This post is entirely directed at the following Bioware personnel:
Matthew Bromberg, Bioware General Manager
Aaryn Flynn, Bioware Canada General Manager
Jeff Hickman, Bioware Austin General Manager
Mark Darrah, Executive Producer
Mike Laidlaw, Lead Designer, Director/Writer for Inquisition
Firstly, I would like to start by saying thank you for bringing to life two franchises that are near and dear to my heart. Secondly, I would like to congratulate you on your recent success with Dragon Age: Inquisition. Thirdly, I want to thank you for setting standards in RPG gaming that are reflected in every successful title in the genre since Baldur's Gate. Lastly, are my concerns for the franchises and my personal views on Bioware after EA's acquisition.
I wanted to be part of Bioware. I never applied for a position because my talents and skills wouldn't be needed in game production. So, I did the next best thing. I became a loyal fan. Every Bioware title in my catalogue (which I have repurchased online because keeping DVDs and CDs is just not worth the space.) was bought as a preorder when it first became available. I bought every DLC because someone at Bioware put some heart and soul into the product and I wanted to sample it for myself.
Bioware never let me down. Every title fired up the moment it was finished loaded. I never went to the forums because I never had an issue. Maybe I was extremely lucky, but I did have some A+ certification training that I put to use prior to installing the game. My custom rigs are never without the latest drivers or software updates.
Every who knows me labeled me Bioware. Every gaming group would complain that I would go on and on about Bioware's genius. One Gamestop employee knew me well enough to set aside a note or whatever bit of information Bioware released about an upcoming game. I bought the original XBOX to own Jade Empire. I spent money without thought to support Bioware.
By the way, I only upgraded my PC when the highest level of quality was not achievable for each new title. Don't worry about that. I blew two grand or so each time Bioware released a new engine. I was planning to do this again with Frostbite 3, but I just can't justify that expense to my wife this time around. I actually can't justify it to myself, either. So, not only did I buy every Bioware piece of software, I pieced together a custom-badass rig to enjoy the medium.
That money is probably the best money I ever spent. I've bought a lot of things in my life and spent money foolishly, but Bioware is a brand I loved and would bet on every time. No need for reviews because my mind and wallet were focused on the new drug... I mean game... that Bioware just made available.
Bioware had the D&D license and produced the first, best computer adventure. Forget the other game developers, I'm a big Dungeons & Dragons fan and loved the Forgotten Realms setting. I thought there was nothing richer or more beautiful than that setting. It was a wonderful muse to craft adventures found only through pen, paper and multi-sided dice. Bioware upgraded those games to brilliant, individual pieces of art, music, voice acting, storytelling and gameplay. This is not even up to debate, in my humble opinion. Bioware produced better and better versions of each game. Then the license was lost which I thought was a terrible mistake by TSR/Wizards of the Coast.
From Baldur's Gate masterpiece sequel, to The Frozen North of Icewind Dale, to the multidimensional world of Planescape, to the beautiful city of Neverwinter... it was a production line of masterpieces and Bioware had perfected the formula. It was chemistry through binary magic that resulted in hours of nirvana.
Dragon Age. My favorite fantasy setting of all time. Dragon Age Origins is a complete masterpiece. The best RPG ever in my humble opinion. There are many titles that occupy the #2 spot, but Origins was practically in a league of its own. Forward thinking was very evident.
Mass Effect. There are some exemplary, masterful landscapes in science fiction that hold people's attention for decades at a time. Star Trek, Star Wars and Dune are probably the most known throughout the planet and I believe Bioware introduced another franchise and put it into a game that worked. It was marvelous. I am Commander Shepherd and I need to stop the extinction of every intelligent organic race in the galaxy. The Reapers have arrived and what a worthy foe.
This was a franchise that not only had an apocalyptic ending in the works, but it gave you the urgency to know and understand your allies and enemies. It was a great mysterious, planet-hopping adventure to find a way to give all intelligent life another day to live.
Bioware didn't or couldn't conceal the successful formula that made each title the individual success it was in the gaming industry. These games were above the hack-and-slash approach used by other game developers. They were above the stale storyline action shooters that were heaved upon every console's arrival. They were art. They were music. They were beautiful characters on a pixel-laden display. They were well done. Polished to a brilliant shine.
The formula consisted of the following:
1. A central character that you adopted or created from the start.
2. A story that completely immerses you into the game.
3. Outstanding voice acting.
4. Beautiful, perfected for the setting, music.
5. Memorable NPCs. Leliana, Morrigan, Alistair, Varric, Hawke and many others all hold a special place in my heart.
6. An intelligent AI and interface that made sense to progress through the game.
7. Controls that were simple and yet very flexible.
8. Gameflow. Yes, you were playing a game that served as a medium for art, music and personal interaction, but it kept you immersed. Once the opening scene started, I was locked in for the ride.
9. Stability. While others had to wait for patches, I only had to wait for DLC.
10. Flexibility. Toolsets. You gave me the keys to make my own adventure or make something shiny.
These are the ten commandments of Bioware. This is the holy writ of RPG gaming on computers. This is the Bioware I know and understand.

Wow... personally I've already moved on despite 16 years loyalty. In fact, I'm still loyal, but not to the "brand", but the individuals who brought together this magic, they are Bioware to me. Alas, most have long gone; Brent Knowles, Chris Presley, etc. I'm just waiting for them to quit EA and "Bioware" so I can justify throwing money at them, money that won't feed the scum that is EA.
Being in business myself I'm proud to be ethical in my marketing and always go the extra mile to ensure my clients and customers leave with a smile at the end of the day. Not always are promises kept, it can be the fault of myself, my staff, or simply poor management of expectations (which falls back on my failure). However, much of my success comes from being able to turn these so-called "angry" "entitled" customers into loyal regulars who sing my praises and encourage growth via word of mouth.
EA/"Bioware" however, they seem to get away with outright lies. It's not the conduct I wish to encourage, nor the direction where I want the industry to go, hence my decision to boycott until EA bites the dust. It's not like they don't have competition either, there are many growing independent developers out there still, and are already competing with the "big boys". In the end, I can only encourage supporting them.
Your letter will just end up in the trash Cyan, this isn't the Bioware you love.

2nd part of final post for May 19th.
Congratulations on Game of the Year. Though I disagree that Inquisition deserved the title, even in one of the worst years in game quality, the award was well deserved for consoles. For PCs, I would say Inquisition was #2 on my list with a lot of hope and faith that would change to #1 with patches. Even though I disagree about the award's merit and the simple fact that it really was a great offering in very anemic year, it wasn't up to the standards of previous of titles in my mind. However, this sort of thing happens a lot in every industry.
Some of my favorite actors, singers, bands and directors lost in a year that I thought they should've won only to win the award later for a title that simply wasn't as good as a previous one. Either way, I was glad Bioware had won the award, but it came at a point where I believe Bioware's old school of standards had "evolved" to cover multiple platforms with the focus being consoles. This is how I see it.
The old Bioware is gone. It's "evolved" as well, but no longer tied to the company that I once loved and respected. I am an American patriot and combat veteran, but when it comes to general politeness and game making...
Oh Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command...
Yes, Canada was home to Bioware and the two doctors... DOCTORS... with real practices... DOCTORS... that were part of the trio that found one of Canada's best companies. Doctors who were passionate about gaming. Doctors who produced intelligent-driven games that involved morality choices, good versus evil, light versus darkness and sexual freedom.
I should've been more prudent in my purchase of Inquisition. Since EA's acquisition, I have had nothing, but trouble with getting games going prior to the first patch. You can say all you want that engines have become more complicated and much more cumbersome, but that is just an excuse. It's a cop out, really. Every new engine was designed to take advantage of the newest hardware available, thus the need for a new rig for maximum results. How can Bioware still screw it up using established developer's kits from the console makers themselves is "amateurish," but apparently it's the norm. I thought Bioware was above the norm, not parallel with it.
Every title with each new engine started up fine up until EA entered the scene. Awakenings, Mass Effect 2 & 3, Dragon Age 2, Star Wars: the Old Republic and Inquisition all failed to start. All preordered. My confidence in Bioware was ruined. After Inquisition, I drew the line and hoped Bioware would deliver. It was time wasted. I spent more time and got more involved with Inquisition than any previous title and the end result: a game that I have unloaded from my hard drive. The only game I deleted because of the amount of frustration since Ubisoft's Pool of Radiance. This was the new pattern I was seeing with Bioware and the disregard for what actually made their games great:
Dragon Age 2: Hawke's story
Of the ten commandments, 8-10 were broken. A trend that continues and worsens with each title produced.
Mass Effect 2:
Same as Dragon Age 2.
Mass Effect 3
Same as above, but Include #2 because the story was woefully incomplete with that spectacularly bad ending. I mean, that was the single most disappointing climax in my gaming history. The amount of PR side-speak that came out of Bioware's mouths was just as spectacularly bad.
Star Wars: the Old Republic.
A great game that lost its way and broke my heart. Free to Play turned into Pay to Win and this horrible trend that I was seeing continued.
Inquisition.
#6-10... all broken.
MARK DARRAH ON 19NOV14 STARTED THIS THREAD WITH THIS POST:
With the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition, we've been hearing a number of concerns from members of our PC community, including:
Driver support
Hitching and frame rate issues in cutscenes
Feedback on keyboard and mouse controls
General user interface optimizations for PC
We've been following these issues closely and are looking into them.
Player experience is a top priority for us. Our goal is to address as many of these as possible in our upcoming patches, including some in our next patch, which is underway. We’ll release further details in the coming days and will continue to monitor your concerns.
Your feedback is important to us, and we appreciate your contribution to making Dragon Age: Inquisition a better overall experience.
No one can accuse me of not going the extra mile. I've watched my enthusiasm and confidence erode to the point where I plainly can state that Bioware is dead to me. Look at my posts from beginning to end and you'll see the pattern. I went through all stages of depression except for acceptance. I'm there now.
I involved myself into two patches and saw very few meaningful fixes in my opinion. Not only that, the disdain Bioware showed by not thanking or even alerting beta testers that the patch had gone live was just unprofessional. Yeah, we're free labor, but a little courtesy goes a long way. Throw in BWAmelia's comments about Bioware fans in general and I see that nothing of the old Bioware exists. You can laugh all the way to bank and honestly I hope you guys stay employed.
Just know, any of the above names that are creditted in any title outside of the Bioware brand, will ALWAYS be treated with caution. Yeah, I have a black list now. Any title that is put out by Bioware now is pretty much in the realm of buying when it's no longer supported... which is about six months that your EA overlords will allow... and about $15 or less. Caveat Emptor is now synonymous with Bioware.
I should've jumped ship when the two doctors sailed off, but I was too much of a fan and too confident in Bioware.
This is my personal view of Bioware now and then. What a startling contrast. Great job. Enjoy your award, your wealth and I hope you have continued success and I honestly mean that. This economy is hard so hang onto to EA because this industry remembers underperformers. For me, however, I am going to invest in other companies like Larian Studios, InExile Entertainment, CD Projekt Red and a slew of other studios who still listen to their fans and produce games with PCs as their focus.
I won't mention Day 1 DLC or other nickle-and-dime tactics that EA works into every game. I guess it is to be expected to pay more even after you preordered the deluxe or collector's edition. This falls on EA, not Bioware, in my opinion.
EA's decision to blow some serious funds on marketing instead of focusing on just making a complete product makes Bioware look sleazy. Yes, sleazy. Instead of making the game right, they try to sell whatever is finished and then push you into buying more bits and pieces. This again is on EA, but it reflects on Bioware from my personal perspective.
I am still waiting for the game you described in this video:
The final straw for me was the fact that Bioware abandoned the very forums they supposedly supported. With Mass Effect 3, they offered a free DLC to complete the ending. The goodwill ended there I guess.
It was a long, give-and-take relationship and unfortunately, neither of us are into each other anymore. I still have Origins and one day I fully expect to see another developer make a proper sequel to it. It's just that good.
So long and good luck.

A few months ago... out intrepid heroes of the PC Community Concerns... were on the verge of taking over the newest class Star Destroyer called the Apathy. That was a few months ago... nothing has changed. The controls are the same and all of the Jedis, Rebel Commandos and space-faring scoundrels all abandoned the mission. Yes. They stopped buying into the Empire's plan. Yes, the Empire is rich and things look great on spreadsheets, but scores of users have given up. Some gave the Empire five successive titles to turn things around, but in the end... it was business as usual for EA and their new love child, DICE.
The End.

I'm leaving the Bioware forums on May 19th since I'm a cannibal to quote one astute ex-Bioware employee in Austin. I can be found at the other forum since there I haven't received a warning post or have to deal with complete a******* like Elhanan and Githcheater. I can't stay here anymore because I am toxic to the Bioware brand and honestly, they're not worth another minute of my time.

You have written a beautiful letter.
Forgive me for intruding on your space.
Sylveria-Relden invited me long ago and I popped in once or twice.
I am amazed many of you are still here. I thought you left.
Cyan, I kind of feel the same way. I loved the Bioware games and because of Biowares hostility towards the PC community, outright lies, state of the release, I will no longer buy EA games.
It is a sad realization that EA the franchise killer will eventually end Bioware also.
Thank you all for the great posts you made. You guys (Cyan, Jackel, Dubya, Ashen, Sylveria, Rizzilant, Bethgael, Brogan, Tobyjake, DevianBurke and somes others on the other threads have made my first forum experience good.
I am also done with the BSN tonight. Had my fill of the rude people out there.
