@Invisible Man  I'm really glad you and disturbedjim83 are enjoying it.  I've put a lot of work and effort into this so I appreciate the two of you trying it out.  Getting people to try a free demo has been difficult at best.

i don't know how others go about it, but i usually only try demos if i'm looking for games to buy, lately i haven't had the spare cash. otherwise it's like window shopping to me (i'm not really into looking at stuff through glass that i can't actually afford) and a while back i decided to hold off on buying new games till i get a new pc, so i really haven't been in a game shopping/demo playing mood. but for my friends i tend to make exceptions, and i'm glad i did, cause that game of yours is quite fun.

Yeah, I think a lot of people fall into that category.  Kickstarter, Indiegogo , etc has changed the landscape a bit though.  We wouldn't have Wasteland 2, Shadowrun, Pillars of Eternity without it.  They wouldn't exist without fans.

As for KOTOR related things.. It really was unfortunate that a MMO was made from Knights of the Old Republic universe instead of KOTOR 3 which I feel would have been money better spent, and a lot of old school gamers satisfied.. But as always EA burned out the franchise by turning into a MMO which ended up being free to play and of course the massive cost probably didn't help their bottom line.  They need some new execs who are little more game savvy then what they have now imho.

Agreed, I haven't touched TOR to this day, nor even WOW and a mate gave me a free copy, it's sitting in a box somewhere in storage. Just zero interest in it.

I still remember how KOTOR blew my mind away, at that time I thought Bioware went all console so I didn't pay it much mind especially when I was hooked on Jedi Outcast / Jedi Academy for lightsabre combat. I didn't even pick up JE until ME either, being console exclusives at first.

TOR is a PC exclusive but it's an MMO, like come on!

Anyway my problem with the MMO designs is that it's simply too casual and your power is based on the RPG leveling systems and limited input of player skill. In multiplayer - for me personally I prefer it to be skill based, like in strategy games or action games. Not saying to get rid of the RPG systems all together - that would be a disaster - but to blend it.

Mount and Blade for example, is an RPG, skill-based but it has its RPG systems in place.

i never really could find any point to playing TOR, knights of the old republic was centered around the idea that a single person, at the right time, in the right place decides the fate of the galaxy (regardless of jedidom or not). a kotor mmo completely misses that mark when you have thousands of such people running around, it's meaningless IMHO.

People ask me why I hate the "Origin" client..

#1 It hogs too much system memory for what it's doing in comparison to other like clients. (Steam, GOG.)

#2 It's advertising Titanfall to me which indicates that they have no clue what I like nor do they seem to care.

#3 Their promise of adding third party software didn't seem to go anywhere.. It's fairly ironic since they refused to put their games on Onlive or any of their newer games on Steam or GOG.  Karma is paying them back in kind now, I think.

...and despite being the second-oldest of the three big DRM-platforms (Steam, Origin, UPlay) it does not have a screenshot feature after all those years. Quite rediculous, since if you wanna take screenshots you have to use another overlay software which often clashes with the overlay of Origin. There are a ton of other features missing - not so many in comparison with Uplay, granted, but to compare it with Steam...apples and oranges.

No, even UPlay, the "late child", has already surpased Origin. It's high time for EA to admit defeat and to put their games back on Steam. With the whole community, guides, modding, forums there this will even add to the worth of their games, they'll probably sell better, too. I guess its misguided pride that makes them hesitate. <_<

@GODzilla  I didn't even want to  mention Uplay.. I can't understand Ubisoft's insistence of using it when their game is on Steam. I actually had to uninstall a Might and Magic game because it would crash due to Uplay being unable to update itself properly. I understand if I had purchased the game directly from them but Steam itself is a DRM, so why must we go through a second DRM software?  It makes no common sense to me at all.. I found a way around games not offering up a way to take screenshots.  I turn off all screenshot functionality from Steam or whatever else and use my personally configured Sweet FX files to give it screenshot, fps monitoring functionality, well as some added visuals and sharpness.

At the very least Uplay behaves rather unobstrusive. You start the game in Steam, Uplay starts, the game starts. It never gave me performance problems, the Steam overlay works and the Uplay overlay itself even supports making screenshots.

If you have to "value" it from a publisher viewpoint it also does a better job in advertising games. In comparison Origin seems to be this big, empty space, a waste of screensize with no redeeming features whatsoever.

I mean...sure all of them are kinda unnecessary and probably unwanted (though admitely I kinda like Steam...probably brainwashing by some hidden messages in Steam over the years )...but they are here to stay so I decided years ago to make my peace with them. ;) The alternative would be giving up on triple-A-gaming.

@GODzilla  It's taken Steam a while but it's pretty invisible now.. I know I don't even really think about it.  It's got a lot of functionality so it's actually a benefit , not a negative thing anymore.

PS  oh, of course it's got offline mode.

I never liked Steam, Uplay, OR Origin, always prefer GOG's old school way of install, play, yay!

Besides my internet is not reliable

Heh with MP games I found it simply breaks the immersion too, "OMG noob"!

that too. *sigh* i mean really... what were they thinking? a kotor mmo... about the worst idea, at the worst possible time. the only thing i can think of is that the suits at EA actually wanted to kill the entire franchise.

I did hear somewhere that Origin is going to be called EA launcher or something like that?  I always wondered why they named it Origin.

A bit stupid that one has to register there in order to vote. But well okay...

/edit: That was the quickest and shortest registration process I've ever seen. Not even with an e-mail activation. ^^

As far as I know there is a rollback feature. Or you might as well try and charge ahead, doing a complete fresh install of Win10. Should be possible now that you upgraded once, since your current hardware ID is now linked to Win10 and its activation. At least that's how I heard this works...
