That's great!   So, what's in your new build?

PS : I'm still sitting in 7th place out of 548 overall!  Not too shabby I think. :)  Over 200 games got eliminated so far due to not following the rules, not running properly or other various reasons.

haven't gotten down there yet (going to today... as in when i go to bed and wake up), figured i'd shoot the s**t with some of their techies first. the only things i've decided on at the moment are... i'm spending around $4000-5000, intel processor/motherboard, asus geforce for a gpu, and likely going to be a single gpu setup. that's all i know at this point.

Xcom 2 is getting delayed 3 months until Feb! :(

Well makes sense I guess, competing with Fallout 4 for sales isn't really smart I thought

Exactly. There'll be so many good games until then, even some you might not have on "your radar", like Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition (coming Octover 27th). Enough good games for the rest of the year, and what a gaming-year it was. :) XCom 2 next year is totally okay with me. ^^

Might I make some suggestions based on my Current rig ?

Intel i7 4790k

Asus z97 Deluxe/Maximus VII Formula

16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400Mhz

Samsung 850 Evo SSD (500GB-1TB) as a main drive

WD Black 3TB-6TB Sata 3 Mechanical Drive as a secondary drive

Nvidia GTX 980Ti (MSI Gaming 6G/Gigabyte Windforce/Asus Strix)

850W-1000W PSU(Corsair/EVGA/)

Corsair 760T Case (I use a Thermaltake Core X9 but it may not be to your liking)

Corsair H100GT AIO CPU cooler

27 Inch or larger 2560x1440 Monitor

you might also be able to get a mouse and keyboard if you need them and be within budget, you might even be able to double the ram or add a 2nd 980Ti if your Budget is $4k-$5k

Do you really need to spend that much to get a decent gaming pc?  I think you can get a great boutique built pc for half that.

Hey Peregrinus good to see you back man,I'm doing good mostly playing TW3 and some World of Warships Public Test client, seen the new trailer for the next DAI DLC Tresspass mostly so I can finish the story of my existing Inquisitor's I just hope its a sizeable expansion akin to DAO Awakening and not 2hrs of story with 12hrs of resource farming.

Also noticed something oddly familiar in the trailer, the scene where your riding in on the horse looks like a scene from the original trainers only difference is your wearing Halamshirral finery instead of armour and the camera angle is different makes me wonder if this is cut content being sold as a expansion which is the sort of thing EA would do but here's hoping its not.

@disturbedjim83  I can see EA doing that.  I've given up on DAI.  Just way too much RL issues to deal with currently.   :(

Slow progress on game.  been playing Divinity Original Sin to keep my mind off things.

I'm seriously in consideration of rebooting my life with a purchase of a bus ticket out of the east coast. It's just gonna be me, my laptop, and my military duffel bag.  Where would you guys/gals recommend?

You could follow the current influx of other refugees from the middle east and come to...Germany!

...yeah sorry, bad joke. :D

I guess I don't need to spend that much, but the thing is I want to. They're checking their suppliers and I'll have an estimate tomorrow. Took so long cause of that long weekend.

---edit
there is something i forgot to add regarding my new rig, i think i'll be going with dual gtx 970s or 980s.

I'm rather happy with Arizona myself. Though the summers are a bit of a pain.

Nice but if I was you switch the titan 'x's for 980Ti's they cost less an perform better. The only way you'll get any benefit from the Tiatan X's is if you do content creation, put the money saved into more storage or even a third 980Ti

Pretty low end...for a supercomputer. xD I guess both you and the guy you ordered from jumped off the chair and yelled joyfully about the order. ^^

Not sure if those titan X's will benefit for gaming.. You might have been better off with dual 980's .

dual 980Ti's are the better bet more performance than 980's and while offering better performance than Titan X's at half the price the only reason Nvidia sells the Titan X as a "gaming card" is because the R9 290 walks all over it at double precision and compute so they can't market it to "creative professionals"

well, i've already paid the deposit like i said, & the parts are already on their way. so if i don't get the performance i'm looking for, i'll guess i'll just swap em out for a pair of 980ti in about 2 months, when i can save up the cash.

---edit
looks like i got the titans for a steal, $1450 for both. (as i just checked, they seem to run for aroun $1K each)

@Invisible_man I think we're just commenting on the excessiveness of the parts, more so then that the parts won't be good for gaming.  :)

granted it sounds like a good deal that being said though unless you watercool them you'll get worse performance than a pair of 980Ti's as with those reference coolers both will hit the 83C limit and will thermal throttle.

You'd have been better going for a pair of non reference 980Ti's from Asus/MSI/Gigabyte and you'd have still had a couple of hundred bucks left over you could have put into another SSD or some Mechanical archive backup like a 6TB WD Black.

I'm also wondering what the catch is because your right they retail at $1k each so how he's got one of them for half price I really don't know unless it one that somebody returned, I hope your system is coming with a warranty bro because somethings sounds fishy here.

it does come with a warranty, and i've gone with this place before. they specialize in making good, quality systems for a reasonable price. i just asked them to make a monster computer in the same fashion. take my current system, 6 years ago i (or rather my dad) spent $2800, if i got the parts individually i would have spent 30%-50% more.

it's a bit different. the cpu is a 3.5gh (unless that was a typo) i7, the ram 32gb ddr5, hard drive 2tb ssd, went with a larger size case that's a bit open internally (i don't know about the case you have listed though), with a lot of extra fans, as i'd have trouble swapping out the coolant in a liquid cooled setup, i don't plan on overclocking anything so it should do alright, if i find it's running too hot, i'll have a new cooling system installed and have the store refill it every few months. i have a hard time doing the delicate internal work with the damage to my left hand.

---edit
and just so you know how out of touch i am, i didn't even know they sell ddr5, well not unless it's attached to a gpu that is.
