Even better. Okay, here's the plan: Mad Max trilogy on BluRay, then Mad Max Fury Road on BluRay. Puts you in the right mood, then you get the game. :D

Lol thanks but no thanks, don't really like the whole wasteland stuff, in fact I only got into FO3 and NV as it's Bethesda (Also NV is one of Obsidian's all time gems). Wasteland 2 the game is great but it's tactical (I'm a sucker for tactical games).

An open world Mad Max action game... I dunno

What else is out?

You're out...of your mind. ...just kidding. :D

Well...difficult. Metal Gear Solid V maybe? Very special case, you really have to be into the whole franchise. If you're clueless (like many) there are only two ways to get to know the stuff:

1.) Play all the old games. :P

2.) Invest 36 hours of your game into watching "Metal Gear The Movie" of all the Metal Gear games on Youtube.

I did the latter and honestly...still pretty much clueless. Guess you have to be an original fan (or become one by playing) to really appreciate it. ^^

Anything else? Don't think so. Do you have a "back-log" maybe? Meaning some games you always wanted to try - maybe even have them sitting in your Steam account unplayed because something else always came up? ;)

But yeah...gonna be a loooong month until FO4. Good news is that I had ten days of holiday left for this year and needed to spend it. So now I have from November 10th to November 23rd (weekends don't count into the holidays) to play the game and think of my poor collegues at work every once in a while lol. :) Gotta hang on until then. ^^

Heh not to mention it's a Japanese game, and I'm tired of console ports. So no to MGS5 too...

Guess its a dry spell for a month then till FO4 :(

Oh well... *looks up Skyrim Nexus*

Well, "steel bikini" mod, never ends!

Nah, think the old games are overkilled too... been looking at Civ6: Beyond Earth for a while, but from all I've heard it's not a spiritual successor to Alpha Centauri at all, so giving it a miss - I already have Civ5 for Civ gameplay. I'm waiting for the expansions first.

*sigh*

What to play...

Maybe a quick look into my back-log can inspire you. ^^ Only the more prominent ones...

  • Alice Madness Returns
  • Castlevania LoS (have yet to finish this) and Castlevania LoS 2
  • Batman Arkham Origins
  • Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons
  • The Darknes II
  • Darksiders 2
  • Fear 3
  • Gods Will Be Watching
  • Life is Strange
  • Metro Last Light Redux
  • Shadowrun Dragonfall
  • Singularity
  • The Vanishing of Ethan Carter

...yeah, too many unplayed games, I know. <_<

Heh none of those interest me it seems... I think I'm one of the those picky gamers now.

Maybe I should just jump back into Arma 3 and make/play some missions (another reason MGS5 doesn't interest me - I already have a large open world set in the modern world with tons of vehicles to drive and fly). Overkilled Xcom long war recently too, was going to try Xenonauts, but my alien-defence-tactical-urge has been depleted.

*sigh* I was hoping Xcom would last me for another month. After 200+ deaths on my memorial in my latest game with Impossible difficulty I now have 3 full squads of genetically enhanced psionic super soldiers - master sergeants all with mind control, plasma weapons and archangel armor. In other words, already invincible. Was one hell of a struggle though.

But now... bored :(

Problem often is....when you want for a game, you only want this game. Yes, there are other games. Yes, they might be great games. But no, you want the future game, now! :D

And then there is also another stupid habit I have: They say, pleasant anticipation is best (at least that's a proverb here in Germany). For me it really is and then when the game is out...for some inexplicable reason I procrastinate. I have it installed, it is there, I'm thinking to myself "yay, I could play it anytime now if I wish..."...but instead of actually playing it I'm still indulging into the pleasant anticipation...so stupid. :D

But it usually goes away after a day or two and then I start the damn game. ^^ It will probably be worse for FO4 though, because of the whole two-weeks-holiday thing. So much time...to waste away. ^^

Heh yeah the hype, been goggling "Xcom 2 news" every few days even though its a 2016 release.

I don't wait to dig into a new game though, I jump straight into it and I don't go to bed until I played at least a few hours of it :P

Just read some news on Star Citizen, looks like they are getting alot of heat recently, first refunds and what not, then Derek Smart (lol - one of the biggest losers in gaming it seems), now apparently ex-employees are defaming Chris Roberts' management style.

Quite frankly I don't believe in alot of the claims, ambitious games take way more than just 2 or 3 years to develop. However, if CIG is operating with a hostile work environment with an autocratic micromanagerial style... it's worrying. I worked for owners like that before, with no clue of the industry, no clue of the trends, and husband and wife sharing authority in leadership? Hell that brings back memories... bad ones! Chris hasn't made a game in 12 years, despite his past success with Wing Commander and Freelancer - so yes I believe he should heed the council of those who have been in the industry during his time off.

Also not saying all H+W teams for business are bad, Taleworlds started off a H+W project but generally from what I've experienced as a manager in my own industry, I wouldn't want to work in that environment. Please one boss, the other yells, both with something to prove when I just want the job done. Decision making is slowed and hampered with over-rulings. It's not good...

I worry for Star Citizen, and would be a shame if it cakes, not to mention it would severely damage public faith in large crowdfunding projects in the future.

On the other hand they react quite twitchy to any kind of opisition and some of their fanboys are acting like rabid dogs. ^^

Fanboys will always be fanboys!

The whole thing is quite amusing. I don't get the controversy when it comes to the development though, it's only been 2-3 years, games this size takes alot longer, and as for the scrapping / redoing - Xcom by Jake Solomon went through YEARS of revision and scrapping to get to the final product.

I have to admit though, when comparing its early access features to other crowdfunded titles, most early access games focus on the gameplay first, the art/visual/audio assets tend to be included last. SC seems to be the other way around.

I wouldn't describe the fanboys as rabid dogs or fanboys necessarily they are simple backers who follow the project and know it intimately inside and out like me, and when a journalist or somebody like Derek Smart shows they have neither the skill or talent to make such a game or even a basic grasp of the project or any familiarity with the project we state that they are wrong and don't beat about the bush in doing it.

Could that be perceived  as being "rabid fanboys" sure,is it ? nope as for the article a few bullet points:

1)The "Journalist" a "GG Darling" with no prior experience of qualifications based her 2 pieces of a exceptionally tainted source namely said Derek Smart his motives for SC's failure are pretty self evident.

2)Accusations of  The CEO, his Wife(Sandi) and the HR department committing Federal offences were printed and yet only the CEO was given time for response/rebuttal a clear violation of basic journalistic ethics which automatically waives any "sources" right to remain anon.

3) The Journalist claims that employee id cards were used in vetting her "sources" claim of being past or present employees and that their name on said id was "blacked out" despite the well know and obvious fact to anybody familiar with the project that CIG does not use "ID Cards" they have only RFID cards and they do not have a employees name on them anywhere. The journalist is now backtracking on her Twitter now it looks like she either lied or was duped.

4)She later appeared on The Escapist podcast episode 199 in which she and other escapist staff reiterated these allegations and stated more, stated that they knew of Derek Smart's history of failed game development and penchant for being dishonest and exaggerating and then said that despite this that his opinion should not be discredited or his claims dismissed that was in between bouts of childish giggling and showing their unfamilarity with the project by saying that the company name had changed back and forth from CIG to RSI and back to CIG even a basic check by the uninformed shows that the company has always been called CIG and that RSI is the name of a in lore fictional spaceship manufacturer lol

5)Then there's her twitter connection to "bandit" who appears to be the one who doxxed Chris Sandi and their young daughter publicly posting their home address on the internet a despicable tactic if ever I seen one it is implied that her and this bandit are either "close" or one and the same person.

I'd also recommend you see the OP of this redit post it lists most of the major flaws in the escapists case:

https://www.reddit.c...ces_uncovered/

This also shows why Derek Smart is not qualified to have a opinion on the matter:

Happy reading and apoligies if this came off as "ranty" was not my intention

Funny thing was it used to sell on steam for nearly $100 with $145 of DLC,understandably nobody bought it, so he made it free while still retaining the $145 of DLC and you can count on 1 hand the number of people who downloaded it, if i recall the total number of people to have "played" is listed as between 1-11 kinda speaks volumes when the game is free lol.

I actually played a "redone" version of his game (BC millenium) when it was released on freeware few years back, I was shocked it was even published lol. It's not a game at all in fact, I don't even know what to call it.

I never bothered with him since until he started his SC feud which I always found curious considering the quality of HIS games VS CR's lol

LOD MMO is a great laugh especially when he's trying to promote it over SC

Escapist is a fool to use DS as their poster boy, and their other sources for their allegations are being discredited pretty quick. Still I'm waiting and watching, it's quite a drama!

... that's quite disturbing coming from the escapist! Good of you to point that out...

Currently the ball is swinging towards CIG's favor it seems. CR has always done right by me, and he's one of the pioneers of gaming. My favorite game of his has to be Freelancer... still I do have fears as this is his first crowdfunded game, first game in 12 years, and it's a different dynamic. Also I reckon he should focus on gameplay first, then art assets later, but that's his call.

He has released AC and other modules to get feedback on the alpha sure, but balancing and making the game fun can be a long process, and end up with a sh-t ton of revisions (also why so many Xcom prototypes was scrapped by Firaxis until they found the winning formula which took the world by storm and revived the TBS genre)

I would hate for it to fail, considering my belief that crowdfunding is the future, gives indies the opportunity to develop games that clueless publishers are too afraid to support. Mount and Blade by Taleworlds was the first I remember back when they called it "shareware" lol, and that game sucked 1000+ hours of my life, and I STILL play it!

I remember back in 0.751 beta (when I picked up M&B before it was released), the formula was already there though. I was hooked within 10 minutes, and I knew straight away - this game is going to hit it big. So far I can't see any with SC. So I remain reserved with it, compared to M&B where I threw money at them and bought multiple copies of their game.

Liz also deleted this tweet and look who crops up in it Why its Derek Smart :

https://archive.is/J9lDY

And she says he wasn't a source even though the whole story is based of his accusations I find it hard to believe that he is following her tweets on the matter and that they haven't at least corresponded in advance by email/phone/skype or other social media. She even frequently links him in most of her tweets on the issue.

Small side note I'm in that linked Tweet (Disturbed Jim 83) with the "she's been sitting too long on the Derek wire" in response to somebody else liar liar pants on fire tweet XD

Another thing that puzzles me is that if the "sources" had real concrete evidence of the allegations made why didn't they go to the authorities direct, instead they all went to a online publication and a third rate one at that and to top it off they went to a contributor not a staff writer.Granted my $700 invested in Star Citizen and my love of Freelancer(stil play it) doesn't exactly make me impartial but something certainly doesn't add up here.

Well for me personally, the ID tags being the biggest "OOPS" I've seen from Escapist's so-called sources. Really damages the credibility of their claims.

Quite frankly I don't get why people are AGAINST crowdfunding, sure there are some mishaps - like Derek Smart - prime example (and he's the escapists' poster boy? seriously? lol), but games like M&B or D:OS or POE will never have been made otherwise.

Do people actually want publisher-based games to be a monopoly? So gaming will be reduced to rinse-and-repeat sequels and shameless cash-ins? Sheez... my agenda is for crowdfunding as a whole, rather than just SC, but that also means I do voice my skepticism as well.

SC hasn't done enough to warrant the belief for me that "SC will crash and burn" - yet. The allegations are serious but after reading it further from both sides of the story, quite disappointed with the Escapist. But I'm still wary, I'll wait for SC to be alpha - persistent universe module especially, when I can see the formula of the gameplay experience myself, not just the flight mechanics.

It wouldn't surprise me if Mr Smart had some behind the scenes help from publishers if Star Citizen proves that you can have a quality product totally crowdfunded, with very open development and where the backers have a say.Big Developers and Publishers and their shareholders might very well panic if they can't get away with yearly releases that are mostly iterative tweaks of last years title with content cut only to be sold as DLC.

Developers,Publishers and Shareholders would panic if for no other reason than their loss of power having to answer to their customers,Gaming Editorials under such a new method would probably find it hard to get exclusive interviews or scoops since most of the info would be public already never mind the free swag they usually get from such company's.

its unlikely granted but not totally impossible.........

Nothing else seems to explain the hostility towards crowdfunding to be honest, I'm getting the impression as well, and it's quite sad.

There are so many less holes in gaming now with crowdfunded games, and many holes are being filled. I still remember for YEARS before M&B caught my attention. I was always going "there NEEDs to be a game where I can just mount a horse and be a medieval warlord"... hell I still remember picking up Joan'd'Arc the game because it had simplistic mounted mechanics. Then Morrowind's mod... mounted combat... I was like "WTF?! FINALLY!"

But then M&B... and I was like "... this... is... a... dream..."

And like many M&B fans, we started calling Armagan - ARMAGOD, as in "I'm A God" lol

Still remember as a kid too, I always wanted a game where I can just walk around, jump in and out of spaceships, land on planets and walla - Star Citizen. In fact it is this desire that made me pick up Mass Effect after Bioware went all console on me years before. The crowdfunding scene is exciting and full of life, innovation, dreams being forfilled - why people have an agenda AGAINST it... pffft!

Yuo might want to give this guy a listen in the video he blows alot of holes in the defense of the Escapist and Derek Smart all in a very logical way :-)
