@Invisible man Can you do me a favor and see if my game still runs properly on your new system? Just download it from the IGMC site and see if it fires up okay. I'm not sure what was updated with the editor but I'm getting an error and can't finish up this project. I'll be making a website for it and releasing it as freeware if I can get it working properly again. Thanks!
It will be 20 levels total with soundtrack download separate.

The version I have works fine on my new rig, not sure if it's the latest one, will re-download when I have a chance. I'm currently in a hotel while our bathroom is being renovated. Could take about a week at most. Then going back into surgery assuming I kick this slight fever. Only be laid up a few days after that.

Be warned guys BTW, especially Aussies. FO4's retail DVD is only 5GB, you still got 19GB (24 GB total) to download. Anti piracy they say, the whole reason I buy games at retail - and at full price - is to avoid the bloody downloading. Day 1 patch = sure, acceptable. Didn't think after buying the disk I would be having to download 80% of the game.
Say what you will about Origin, but even Origin's servers here down under are faster than Steam. GOG the fastest I found, downloaded 30 GB of TW3 no problem.
If you want FO4, I recommend getting a cheap steam key or during sale, cause retail version just isn't worth it, no avoiding the days of downloading. Still keeping my copy, still looking forward to mods, but definitely will be the last full-priced physical product I buy from Bethesda.

Oh, that's stupid. I'll get my steelcase retail today, downloading the additional 19 gigs will take the better part of the day...my first free day of 14. Well, well, I almost anticipated this. At least we get something. Some developer only put the setup.exe on the DVD. -.-

Who isn't? ![]()
Well, I have two weeks holiday and a bit of a dilemma on what to play. Thing is, I haven't finished The Witcher 3 and if I start F4 now, chances are I never will. Which would be a shame. ![]()

Yeah, it's real deceiving. First disappointment even before the game is installed. Spend big bucks to get the physical copy that also makes uninstalling/reinstalling games less of a hassle (without having to redownload the whole damn game)... and then having to download it anyway!!! 80%!!!
Why bother then? For a cheaper price you can just get a steam key since retail is pointless.
Oh well lesson learnt. What's up with Bethesda? Skyrim had day 1 patch sure, but its patch sure wasn't 80% of the freakin game. The PR at Bethesda lied, I assumed when he mentioned "we've been doing this for a long time" that it would be like Skyrim, a few hours download after work is fine. Not pick up a game, come home after work and can't play it till end of the week because "oh noo, pirates! lets punish our legitimate customers, our most loyal ones, who buy on day 1 and full price too"
And Godzilla - you took time off for this release? Hell ... Bioware (before DAI) I can understand sure, but Bethesda?
I see Bethesda games as more a "build ur own game" package, not a game where I would take time off and have a bug-free balanced and fun gameplay experience - at least until a year has passed when all the mods and unofficial patches come out/stable.

Anyway Godzilla If I was you I would finish TW3
Based on the reviews FO4 seems to be what I expected really, buggy and shallow, like Skyrim's release. One review said: "Bethesda, Bethesda never changes" lol
Anyway despite Skyrim's release, to this day Skyrim sucked so many hours of my life and I have loads of fun, because = mods. Before modding though it's recommended to play through vanilla - so you know the game's strengths/weaknesses/what you want to mod/etc - especially which bugs are vanilla and which bugs are mods' so one doesn't end up flooding the modder's nexus page with timewasting comments.
Personally I don't expect to truly enjoy FO4 until months time, not like I did TW3.

I didn't took time just for this release, but I had days to spent before the year ends and decided to put it when F4 releases. Could've gone a few weeks earlier, a few weeks later. Don't have any elaborate plans anyway, just chilling for a change. ![]()

What reviews have you been reading Jackal, most of the ones I've seen have raved about FO4.
You know, I couldn't get into TW3 at all... haven't been able to finish a single one of the franchise to date so there you go, just goes to show it takes all types. I wouldn't say TW was crap just because it wasn't to my taste, though I personally fail to see how a game with such a corny and clumsily written story can be hailed by so many as great- but hey, whatever floats your boat.
I haven't come across any bugs at all in my five hours of FO4 and even though the typical Bethedsa animations and facial textures are still present to a degree, it's actually pretty awesome imo. My only gripe is being locked into the spouse and kid thing from the start, I much preferred FNV's PC having no ties at all. I think they've done a killer job with it so far though and I plan to spend many, many hours in the wasteland.

Will have to see for myself I guess, but would be a while.
I didn't like FNV's courier start to be honest, and the DLCs tell me stories of my character that I haven't even experienced - ruining my own imagination of the character. The FO3 start, from a baby to a vault and then released was the best for me. Still, FNV craps all over FO3 in terms of overall story, gameplay, and companions for me. Obsidian did one hell of a job.
Anyway all the reviews I read so far for FO4, including very positive ones mentioned lots of bugs and glitches. However as I said, it's expected from Bethesda, and it's tradition.
And wait you mentioned animations? I thought they finally made smoother animations in this title no? That's what I saw from the preview =/

Smoother, yes, a lot smoother but still noticeably Bethedsa quality, particularly the faces and voice overs. Hardly game breaking but in the interest of being unbiased and all... ![]()
Most people on reddit seem to be having as smooth a run through as I am so I really wouldn't say it's full of bugs and glitches. The odd person here and there has found one but it's actually really clean as far as I can tell. But then I never had any problems with DAI bugs either, just the crappiness of the game in general lol!
The character creation thing is outstanding, the process is amazing. Just once though, I would like the face of the character I spend over an hour crafting to be exactly the same as the one they sport in the game! It's not too far off, but still! ![]()

Sounds good then, looking forward to it, but now you just raised my expectations of it, so I'm more likely going to be disappointed lol
Hmmm, been downloading 'round the clock since yesterday, should be able to load it up after work today. Hopefully, been changing download servers stealing some other regions bandwidth... bah! Steam... *sigh*

Good to hear Jackal, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised to be honest. Though pack snacks for the cc... seriously enabling to creation OCD it is lol!
And because I'm quite nuts, here is a pic of the vault suit I made my Akira puppy to celebrate the launch- he wore it to obedience since there is another FO4 fan there and wore it last night during game time! ![]()

Because I can't start the game without an active internet connection, I get an infinite black screen when not connected.

I don't think so, just your regular steam game I thought. Have you tied setting Steam to offline?
#5845
Posté 11 novembre 2015 - 06:08
Yup, steam is offline, except the game doesn't load offline. I'll keep testing to confirm.
Lip sync and random facing bugs during dialogue noticed straight off the bat, somehow gets better after the first few scenes. Graphics... having problems with God Rays and blocky pixelated outline using AMD, ini doesn't turn it off, but it's acceptable for now. I like the new animations, smoother movement.
Annoyed that your guns/weapons are no longer on your back. Rather immersion breaking when playing 3rd person. Regardless, I'll wait for the weapons on back mod which is bound to happen. Though likely, modders will be working on removing apparel instead first heh.
Still too early for impressions, overall still positive -> going back in... ![]()

Weird, I'm running it on my lowly GTX 760 (admittedly on an i74790 but still) and it's been auto set to High and is running perfectly for me - no jaggies, nothing. Except the lip sync animations- which I did mention lol!
Here he is leaving the vault, I'm pretty happy all up with the graphics... I was worried for a little while there..

I hope you enjoy it as much as me, I'm having an absolute blast in Lexington at the moment. I recommend you take Codsworth when you can, as cool as the dog is, Codsworth has a flamethrower, a buzz saw and rather witty reparte. ![]()

Fixed the pixelated outlines on 3rd person, apparently its a Nvidia God Rays thing - I'm using AMD. And the fix - putting my preset settings on Low seems to make the graphics look... dated, despite jacking everything else up. Oh well... I'll wait for patch or someone to figure out a better fix.
So far, having problems, but game is still running, quests are stable so far, few FPS drops, one CTD on a quickload, but overall stable, no gamebreakers or showstoppers yet - which is good. But really missing the guns on back, trying hard to get used to weapons magically appearing in my hands.
Getting my butt handed to me bringing Dogmeat around, might switch to Codsworth like you suggested, the buzz saw sounds nice, a single radscorpion killed me and Dogmeat like 6x before I killed it.
My first impressions of the game is alright, definitely a diamond in the rough, just more polish and like other Bethesda games, going to be a real gem ![]()

Oooh where did you find the rad scorpion? Haven't seen any yet! There's a Deathclaw really early on and they are even nastier now and for the love of all things not irradiated- beware the feral ghouls! Thing 28 Days Later +radiation and you'll have the idead. *shudder*
I wonder if your issues relate to the game having the whole Nvidia Gameworks thing going on? There was much chatter about the possibility of it interfering with AMD cards. :/
It is seriously running smooth as on high for me with my GTX760, I hope a fix comes out for you soon.
There was much discussion on reddit re the lack of holstered weapons and there was speculation that the power armour is the reason they left it out. It does indeed seem like a strange decision otherwise. I'm switching between 1st and 3rd enough that it doesn't really bother me, but I do agree it would be better if the guns were on backs!
Just spent forever wandering around this huge factory trying to finish the last raiders off....FINALLY found where I needed to be and engaged themmm only to be taken out by a bomb! Shame I didn't quicksave when I found my way eh? lol! I have NFI how I got there hahaha! Going to bed now but gee, can't wait to do it all over again tomorrow lol!
Moral of the story- Quicksave constantly!
I'm loving this game, finally the itch left by DA:I being shite is being scratched!

Oh you do not want to meet a rad scorpion lol, I actually encountered it on the road randomly. It burrows into the ground - but worse - as it pops out right beneath you and attacks with its stinger/pinchers taking up to 80% of your HP in one go. It killed me in seconds, six times. I was sprinting everywhere to avoid getting jumped by it. Dogmeat didn't stand a chance.
Started using my .38 automatic "pipe" SMG with bayonet for the feral ghouls/close combat, and .308 modded hunting rifle (54 damage!!!) with scope for sniping, so far doing good especially with Codsworth and his overpowered buzzsaw too haha. Ever shot a feral ghoul's arms off? It still comes at you and headbutts you lol its hilarious!
BTW the power armor is so awesome too, I feel like iron man putting it on and going into battle with it. Need to figure out how to make/recharge fusion cores though.
One thing I like about the weapons is that it's very progressive in FO4, and the crafting is excellent. Overall I'm enjoying it, just argh... the missing details/AMD problems/etc. So can't wait for the mods and patches for this game.
