@Jackal19851111 Yes, the weapons not showing is disappointing but I can imagine the clipping involved with all the weapon mods.

The weapon mods have their maximum sizes, it's just a case of positioning. It will be done, no doubt about it, seems alot of folks are annoyed about it too. Would be nice if Bethesda saves modders the trouble of doing it themselves but I reckon they got their hands full ATM first stabilising vanilla and then optimising it as well as releasing the GECK next year. Would be a while... unless a miracle happens like -> someone finds a code or something.
BTW, remember how I said I loved ghouls?

Ordered an artillery strike on them straight after, was glorious! ![]()

Well that puts things in perspective Peregrinus! Good points all 'reound - I hope things pick up for you soon.
It's summer temperatures in spring here at the moment and let me tell you- Alaska sounds amazing from where I am sweating lol!
I expect everyone's first venture or three into game development is less successful than they would have hoped, it's much like writing a novel, best seller or no seller finishing the damned thing is an achievement in itself. You've done something most of us will only ever dream of so it can't possibly be a failure.
Here's a pic of Akira on Howloeen to cheer you up!

OMG this track!
Especially at the 1:20 mark, hell you feel so heroic, almost have tears in my eyes just listening to it! That's normally my "hero cue", to start injecting stims/med-x and charging in the fray!
Also this one:
(Think those 2 are boss tracks, don't here them in standard combat, only with boss enemies)
The exploration tracks are also great, so relaxing I end up with hours just building up settlements or exploring.

It's official, Inon Zur is now my favorite game composer, especially with works like Dragon Age Origins and now FO4, his style is just so epic.
Anyway Luna show us your character! ![]()

If I show you mine you have to show me yours Jackal lol! ![]()
This is him in the creation screen

Being dark and moody

And after I discovered the console command to remove the HUD lol!

And before his 'refreshingly irradiated' swim.

I quite like him, though as soon as I find a surgeon I'm tweaking his eyes- the bug me somehow lol!

Was up to my throat with my loot, so decided to go to Diamond City... a guard goes "ho ho ho", then I walked in to see THIS:

... checked the date, it was indeed Xmas day.

And this is vanilla FO4!!!

You character;s lovely Jackal! Is it not the MOST amazing character creator you've worked with to date? It was so much fun to make my guy, I'm looking forward to the next one already lol! He's had a haircut sinced then- now he's gone a bit wasteland crazy and has the sides shaved to skin... I'm thinking he'll progress to the full floppy mohawk in a bit then slowly get saner and grow it in till he has a full head of hair once he and Danse hit it off...What's that? Overthinking? Whatever do you mean? ![]()
And now I'm sad that there are no xmas decorations in my Diamond city! I was just there last night.
Maybe today!

It's only on 25th of December - game time. So if you miss it, you'll have to wait, another year! lol
That's why I'm surprised, little details like this is modder's turf, Bethesda hid alot of work under the surface
Alot of little details in this game. Looks like I'll have to keep an eye on other holidays, maybe they have Easter?
The attention of detail in FO4 is making it a serious GOTY contender for me. I thought TW3 for me would never be challenged.
Yeah the character creation system is awesome! Easy to fix too, like my character went through tons of revisions on the fly, unlike in DAI where I had to restart the game like 50x to get a decent face - and even after you made a decent face, lighting makes the character look so different!
I'm really happy with her so far:

Deadly too, with 8 perception and gunslinger perk her enemies end up always at her mercy:

Even a random Mirelurk Queen out of nowhere last night:

Heh, actually I found it easier to kill the mirelurk queen on foot, need the speed/mobility, and the poison eats through your power armor anyway.

And just some more shots of her looking good:

Anyway, I put on Diamond City Radio for abit and hell the DJ is so confident now, he really progresses. I read some reviews saying "radio DJ is uninspired", pffft, they only scratched the surface.
The direction they took with FO4; leaving alot of surprises underneath, it's the best direction in terms of gameplay, but dangerous as most reviewers won't see half the content by the 40 hr mark.

My date is concurrent with the actual date... how did you get to Xmas day so fast Jackal ?
So I had to move the main quest along in order to move the BOS side of tings along... so decided to sort the Kellog issue out. I already had the key so figured I was at least halfway through. So, under this illusion I found Valentine and figured it would be doable in a reasonable time frame (we had a big storm last night so the pc was unplugged til 9 waiting for the lightning to pass)... yeah, right. Midnight rolls round and I had just finished the quest lol! This game is so Big! It's HUGE I tell you-- HUUUUUGGGE!!! 30 odd hours in and I've barely scraped the surface.
I have no idea how anyone could find the DJ 'uninspired' Jackal- he's great! Totally out of his depth and obviously very damaged by something, I'm pleased he is given a story line and can't wait to have his character fleshed out when I find it. Every time I hear 'We're Gonna DIE!' it cracks me up. ![]()
This is game of the time between DAO and now for me! ![]()

@Lunafancy The game is insanely huge. It might actually turn some people off because things do start off fairly slow. I think folks are used to game that are under 25 hours of total gametime. I tried some more town building. It's fairly awkward to use. I"m guessing it's not required to finish the game?
#5938
Posté 30 novembre 2015 - 03:48
I find it awkward too Peregrinus, I'd never play a game like Mincraft so I think part of it is just that I'm not that into it really, but as far as I know it isn't necessary for the main storyline- it's more of a survival in the wasteland drag the one game out forever thing I think.
If you have the local leader perk you can build supply chains etc, but I figure my dude is a bit more interested in the main story than building settlements for now, when he finds out a bit more (if things go the way I think they will) he'll like lt need tome time out to regroup, so we'll get into the building stuff then.
It is insanely unco (as in unco-ordinated in case that is inscrutable aussie slang) controls wise and drives me nuts after about five minutes. I have one two story workshop up and that is enough for me lol! It would be better if you could level ground and stuff...feels a bit unfinished to be honest. But for me it's such a minor part of the game I find it hard to care about the shortcomings of it.
I long for campsites myself! The ability to build a fire and cook stuff up on the go- now there is a mod I'm looking forward to!
But I'm happy enough to play it through vanilla, which is amazing in and of itself!
I'm so glad that they only copied the dialogue wheel from Bioware (and I quite like that myself) and not the wartable. Actually, the spectre of the wartable will loom large over every new AAA RPG for me for quite a while. That was bloody AWFUL! I'm sure they'll ruin ME:A by having one

The game starts in October 2087, not that long till Xmas, you sure you didn't miss it?
The game IS huge, and Luna, you only JUST sorted out the Kellogg issue? That's barely 1/4 of the way through lol
I won't spoil it, but know that it's bigger than even I expected. That's why I said, move the story along. The main questline is more of an... introduction ![]()
Right now I'm stuck in indecisiveness, you'll see when you get past the halfway mark. Hard decisions...
It doesn't feel like a vanilla Bethesda game, more like a modded-straight-off-the-bat game with its amount of content.
I like the dialogue wheel in FO4, Skyrim PC dialogue was very, very weak and only a few lines/options. Have no idea how people forget that, DAO's PC silent dialogue was very extensive, so I too was pissed with the conversation wheel on DA2. But for FO4, coming from Skyrim, it's a good thing.
Settlement building is quite fun but it takes a while to get used to the controls and ingame tutorials aint much help. I mostly build simple settlements just enough to put crafting stations/cooking/traders and supply lines in the game. I pick up alot of junk so I need to store it often - having supply lines means I can drop off my loot anywhere in the map. I have a supply line from Sanctuary to the Castle atm ![]()
Before that I was always fast traveling all the way to Red Rocket Stop to drop off my loot, which I need for THIS:

Have 2 T-60 suits at home (pictured - Hot Rodder / Atom Cat suits), 1 T-60 (BOS suit) at the BOS, and my original T-45 (repainted with Minutemen colors) parked at the castle. Plus one frame I stole off a raider while he was out of his power armor hehe. I had to repaint over my Vault-Tec suit though, still looking for more power armor pieces.
Here's my home (Red Rocket Stop):

It's very simple, I mostly added to it rather than create a whole new settlement. Only thing on the outside are turrets / windmills on the roof. It's my home too so I don't have a recruitment beacon.

Whao guys, guess what I found?

A gauss rifle with 340+ damage!!!!!!
Rare ammo though, but looks like it's going to be my big hitter ![]()
#5941
Posté 30 novembre 2015 - 02:49
My "normal" big hitter is a .50 cal sniper rifle. Build off of a unique hunting rifle that has +25% damage to begin with, then outfittet with the .50 cal receiver and all the latest modifications + a long range recon scope. Ammo is not as common as 0308, but I use it only when I wanna leave big holes.
I have a regular .308 sniper with a silencer for common medium range kills. ^^
Just in case some, my companions usually carry something for extreme situations. Starts with a rather regular missile launcher, ends with the fatman. ![]()
Here's my character btw, it's an older screenshot where the sniper wasn't fully upgraded:

Heh good o' sniper rifle, I normally switch out the .50 and .308 receivers depending on which ammo I have of excess.
Here's mine:

![]()
Don't think you can really suppress a .50 cal like that in RL but anyway hehe...
And here's the stats of my "B.F.G.":

![]()
Kinda overkill... I end up one-shoting legendary enemies with it, so the 50% limb damage is abit of a waste till I find another one.

Big weapon there. I'd go for some roleplaying with that, probably. Meaning I would only use it together with power armor. Speaking of it, I really like the implementation of power armor in FO4. I'm not using it often, just have some of them maintenained at some points around the Commonwealth for special missions I guess.
But I'd wish there were some drawbacks on using it. Things like...not being able to sneak, at all. Enemies should see and hear you coming over much bigger distances. And maybe your agility should suffer. Would only be fair, since your strenght goes up. And some weapons should either be only usable in power armor (the really big ones, like fatman, mini-gun, gatling laser and yeah, maybe even the railgun) or at least loose considerable accuracy when used outside of power armor.
Make it a fighting vehicle through and through so to speak, but only that. Way it is now it is still the go-to piece of equipment which I'm not liking. It should something for special occasions, like when you wanna blow a town up... ![]()
Well I guess I will get that sooner or later...because mods!!! ![]()

@GODzilla I find myself not using power armor whenever possible. I'm playing the sneaky recon type so I avoid using it. I only have 4 cores anyhow. I do like the very Stalker like combat gas mask and drifter outfits. Right now, my main weapon is a customized pipe bolt action rifle with long barrel, suppressor, and the works.
#5945
Posté 30 novembre 2015 - 07:08
I agree, though I would make heavy weapons usable on foot but make you encumbered (unable to run) so you can still pick it up and shoot (but with crazy recoil), would make heavy weapons FEEL like heavy weapons that you need power armor to use effectively.
There will be probably 5 or 6 versions of this mod soon lol
I'm already roleplaying that way too, I never use heavy weapons without power armor, and for me, the weapons go along with the armor. For example, my Hot Rodder flame suit - whoever wears it, gets the flamethrower (pictured):

Here's my character and McCready suited up for action!!!

Travelling in style of course...

... Yet after all the investment in fusion cores and ammo + vertibird...

... THIS is what I get ?!?!
#5946
Posté 30 novembre 2015 - 07:09
Fusion cores...that's another thing I'd like to see fixed by mods. Although I have yet to really get into the main quest and even the faction quests and also mostly avoided visiting places without getting a quest to do so (I remember Skyrim, where free exploration caused some quests to break) I ended up with something like 20 or so power cores. ![]()
I sold many of them, locked others away in a safe. Hopefully they can be made very scarce via modding...

Heh I play both, depending on the mission / faction quest, general exploring I go on foot, equipped with my sniper rifle and 10mm pistol. Heavy combat or clearing? power armor + heavy weapons + vertibird ![]()

It was December 1 last night in game Jackal so I'm just really REALLY far behind it seems lol! I only get to play for 2 or so hours at night so that might account for it. The fact I spent most of last night's session trying to get out of the Fort whatever it is that Kellog was in until I turned off collision and walked through a fence to reach stairs that looked like they led out might also play apart. Bless Bethesda for their open consoles on release...
Looking at all the juicy weapons on display here just pushes the point of how slow I am home- I'm still jizzing myself (figuratively) over getting an 80 damage sniper rifle last night haha!
Like I said- I am never going to finish this game lol! My obedience buddy- I think he must be in his fifties or at least close to that- and I were having a laugh that this game would 'see us through' the other day. ![]()

It's one hell of a stable release as well, I only had 2 CTDs, one because I TGMed just to fast travel home with loot, cheats are a tad buggy - but it's the same as Skyrim to this day. The other was through Monsignor Plaza but a simple reload fixed it.
I started off dubious about the game thanks to being ripped off with my retail copy, having to download 20 GB of data despite buying the disk, no more full priced retail copies from Bethesda for me. I have unlimited internet now, but before I was on a download cap. I can only imagine how pissed I would have been if I didn't switch ISP.
Then no guns on back... it started off as 6/10, now if I was to give it a score now, it's 9/10.
It loses a point from me mainly for the retail ripoff, so I'll still have to give it to TW3 for GOTY. Game quality is top notch, Bethesda's great, but thanks to its corporate idiots... FO4 is my runner up, but in the end, still going to be a game that I'll be playing for years - until the next Bethesda game of course. Modders will keep me busy till then!
