I finished the tutorial and went walking into the town and I am hearing lots of people talking away.
Does that count as banter :-)?

 

You mean NPC-chatter in Haven? That's not banter, no. Banter is when companions in your 4-man-group talk to each other.

 

New Nvidia driver just released

I guess I am lucky did not get stuttering yet, but not far into the game :-)

 

I got the impression that every driver after 344.75 was mainly optimzed towards never cards like the GTX 970 and 980. I read many threads in many forums, trying to get an idea whether the last driver (there was already one after 344.75) is good or bad for DAI for certain graphic cards. I use a card from the last generation, a GTX 760 and am very satisfied how the 344.75 driver runs DAI.

 

I will not upgrade unless a certain game needs it. That's also the suggestion I read (between the lines so to speak) from reading up on the newer drivers, DAI and my graphic card. ^^

 

So...it depends. Which card to you have?

But I did go to the war table and I have to go somewhere to find someone :-)
As I said do not have a clue what I am doing in this game yet.
But in the tutorial Varic and Cassandra did chat with me and they were chatting in the background:-)

I have an ASUS GTX 570 Direcy CU II using 344.75 and I am getting 40 to 60FPS
In the menus solid 60
In the cut scenes 30FPS
And everything is on high and a few at Ultra
Load time is a few seconds because of the dual SSD drives in RAID 0
Seems like the game is working for me
Will play some more tomorrow and will see if all is Ok :-)

Banter happens when you're just walking around with your gang. When you reach the Hinterlands, that's when you should hear your first bunch of banters. I think though also even before, during the tutorial. I even had an interactive banter, where they chat and then one of them directs a question at your player character and you can answer via dialog-wheel, while you can still walk around. That's pretty cool actually, but it's also kinda random. So if you haven't seen it in the tutorial, don't worry.

Yeah...with an SSD you're going Saiyan, but you wanted to get Super-Saiyan, didn you!

 

My next SSD will be aquired for space. Currently I only have a gaming partition on a single Samsung SSD 830, 164gb in size. I have another partition for "less demanding" games in my HDD. But I will probebly get a 500GB SSD which will put an end to all the different partitions. It'll be the only gaming drive in my computer then.

The opposition your movement gets from multiple sources is the spice of the game, makes it more interesting imho. And think about Inquisition movements in our real-world history and how much it was feared.

Let me know how it runs when you get to Redcliffe.  I know my fps dropped into the low 15's there.

Yes, and I'm in just south of Houston ... it's raining mightily here atm.

 

Just drove through SA twice over the holidays, out to California and back to see the in-laws.

 

It's been 10 years since I was through there last and my how it (SA) has grown.

Go for a pair of them, I did. Yes costly but, I guarantee you the GPU is not going to be the problem for a long time (well long time as computers go anyway.) I dreaded the cost of my twin Titans about as long as it took me to get this beast booted up and load a game - all regrets vanished. So nice to know any game I want to install will fly along at 70+ FPS (and if it doesn't it has a problem and, it isn't my computer.)

 

SSDs are also worth it, this beast of mine had dual 500 GB SSD and dual 2TB HD on top of that. I've got one HD filled with musiv, movies and photos already, the other for documents, programs that don't need the speed of an SSD, etc... One SSD is my boot/recovery drive, the other my gaming drive. (in case something in there really borks it up and I have to wipe the drive - rather not have to wipe the boot drive.)

 

Yes it's a lot of computer, but I dreamed of building it for at least 5 years, and scrapped and saved for three years to afford this beast. I wouldn't have it now were it not for an unexpected cash windfall, I'd be waiting another year to get all of the components I wanted for it. I wondered if doing my own custom rig was really worth it, the time, money, having to learn how to do a few things, etc... but, when she booted the first time, well you can't beat that feeling. "Wow, this thing is a monster and, I did it all myself and, it works."

I hate you.     Make sure your power supply is up to par when you get that monster.  It eats power like Godzilla.

I have a hard time playing a villain too. The last time I tried was Knights of the Old Republic 2.. I felt so putrid afterwards.

Let me know how it runs when you get to Redcliffe.  I know my fps dropped into the low 15's there.

Redcliffe was my low-point performance-wise, too. The lowest I ever got before was 30 fps (High settings with some Ultra settings), but in Redcliffe it even dropped blow that. Still playable and "fluent" by definition, but hardly so. "The human eye can't see more than 25 fps, stupid!" Yeah sorry, that was my split personality. He plays on consoles.

Definitely. I even read some of the novels, not yet finished with them though. I usually read them while playing, so....The Witcher 3 will probably give ample reason to continue until the last novel.

I have this problem, too. I mean I have played through Mass Effect at least 4 times completely, 3 times ME2 and 2 times ME3...and were never able to be evil.

I have a Cooler Master Gold 1.2KW Silent Pro
And I do not regret my dual SSD in RAID 0
I do also have 4TB external drives in ESATA for other stuff :-)
My case is an Antec P183 version 3 full tower Audio Video case it has built in insulation to nullify any noises from the GPUS fans and PS fan that is a super quiet case :-)
