Man, that sounds like an awesome firefight Jackal- you're playing on Survival right? I'm on normal and having a hard enough time sometimes lol! :D

Just accidentally completely spoilered Danse for myself looking up ways to get him out of his annoying power armour. Ah well... at least I know it is doable. :D

Argh, told you to stay away :(

Hope the main quest is still spoiler free for you

Yeah I'm playing on survival, any other difficulty is a little too easy with god-mode stimpaks for me. Besides it forces me to play tactically, positioning, fire and displacement. Love it shooting from one end, reposition, watch them waste ammo laying down suppression fire on your old position, then shoot them in the back from another position hehe. But all that goes to hell when you are dragged into a fight... thanks companions! Or the enemy's dogs... damn the hounds, sniffing you out.

With deathclaws they can kill you instantly on foot, even at a high level so can't even backpedal, have to turn and run, hearing it coming at you from behind, bloody spine tingles. Then again my character's strength and endurance sucks (she started off with 2 STR and 2 END heh - I speced her for guns/sniping/stealth), also why power armor is needed for all out assault missions.

Oh btw, there are more legendary enemy spawns on survival, like at least 1 per 2 battles, meaning I get lots of awesome gear :P

Nice! Okay I have been trawling reddit and have found a way to get Danse out of the power armour via console commands! :D Have only just found the step by step my feeble brain needs but have found images that demonstrate why I want him in 'normal' armour

AjAfxZv.jpg

He's gorgeous, just like I thought he would be! :)

Here's a link to the reddit thread that contains the step by step guide. It's a good one because it provides the codes- I have found a page with all the console info but it's nice not to have to hunt them out.

So, we know what I'm doing tonight lol! Lord I hope it doesn't go wrong haha! Edit : Yay! It worked! Now I need to get him Kellogs armour  like in the pic above. Right now he's crusing Diamond City at night in a Greaser jacket and jeans lol! It's so nice to see him being a real boy and sitting down etc lol!

s7Dj8Bih.jpg

The reddit poster said they cleaned up his face but I have no idea how, when I tried in the showlooksmenu it didn't look mlike any grime etc had been applied.

Also, because I took my little dog Akira to have his photo taken with Santa (don't judge!) and just got the photo, a pre-emptive Merry Christmas to you all!

Thanks for the headsup, and you can use the looks menu on NPCs too? Oh the possibilities! :D

You sure you want to go through with dressing Danse up? Errr... somethings can not be unseen... just saying lol

Ah, the joys of PC gaming with working console commands...

I just also found/made my character some gear for covert missions:

Hell I miss the stealth suit in FNV...

I also very much doubt EA has that kind of buying power since Bethesda Softworks is part of Zenimax and they are not exactly a small company.  I'm fairly certain Zenimax is in a much better position financially than EA.

As for epic moments, I wandered into a hospital full of raiders last night and I was managing to survive until I ran into the deathclaw in the basement.  lol   Bethesda was pretty mean to put it in that enclosed space where you can really run around at all.

What do you mean Jackal? Sure he has his weird blob man moment when you get him out, but it's like 5 seconds if you follow the right steps. Then he's rather fetching in his BOS suit...and after that his tighty whities lol!

He does cool stuff too when you get him out of the PA, he prowls around all over the shop. I took him to Diamond City and he wandered over to the noodle bar and just started scoffing lol!

kpZ6Kkkh.jpg

Seriously though, the noise it made was sending me nuts- it was like having a companion in corduroy pants whose thighs rubbed together on a freaking loudspeaker. Couldn't take it.

I assume I'll have to put him back in it for the end of his personal quest if I want it to make sense... but until then he is free!

@Peregrinus

Haha yeah I think I know of the deathclaw you're talking about. I was running around the generator in the middle of the room trying to stay alive. He changed from clockwise to anti-clockwise a few times and I ran straight into his face too heh

I sure didn't expect to find a deathclaw down there either

@Luna

Lol

So I guess no more 1-ton behemoth clanking around behind you while you're trying to sneak. Blocking off doorways too...

I dunno, I might get him out of his PA later, if only to put him in one of MY own suits :P

Though, I can imagine he's much more flexible without PA, I normally dismiss him for covert quests because of his clanging about.

Ahhh, you understand my pain Jackal lol! And since I want him as my companion (he kind of reminds me of Kaiden- so earnest and mission focused, I've yet to see that if he'd be as great an asset at a trivia night as Kaiden though) well I had no choice but to ditch that racket. Remember that episode of Seinfeld where George bought a new suit for an interview and the inner thighs 'swished' as he walked? Well I only remembered it because of Danse and his power armour. :D

I tell you, this playing the game with concussion thing I've been doing the past week is problematic- I generally have had no memory of what I did in the session before (as in needed to look up where I was on the map and check my quest log every time I logged on) and last night I discovered that I apparently spread gear out all over the shop with no system at all lol! I think it is a plus that I at least remember that I discovered that last night though...

So, do I have Kellog's armour stashed somewhere? Did I not retrieve it? WHO KNOWS? I can't find it in any of the numerous stashes I have at Sanctuary- do I have others elsewhere that I can't remember? Probably lol! I think I shall take further advantage of the console again and save myself the headache- which is never far these days lol!

Right. Worked out the face change, got him Kellog's gear and Be Still My Beating Heart...

BjqIiBUh.jpg

*swoon*

I think he already has the hots for Mr Jayden too...tell me this isn't the look of true love in the making...

gXt8EMjh.jpg

Jayden's cracked and shave his head completely, he is ripe and ready for some Danse healing right about now...

I am SO glad I don't know any of you in person... I doubt I could live this level of crazy down IRL lol!

Haha I'm sure towards the end of 2016 we'll be seeing animation mods and what not, kissing (and more of course lol). I just hope they release essential mods like guns on back first.

Honestly though, I find the flirting in the game rather awkward... except when you formalise the relationship at the end. I normally pick the normal responses right until the end to confirm the romance. Maybe because I'm playing a female character, and I like her to play hard to get.

Different case with Danse, he seems like the type of guy who my character would really go for, the alpha male, so she flirts with him every chance she gets. Right now, Preston, McCready, and Cait are all hitting on her. She friend zoned all of them for now - except for Piper because of her sweet voice.

Lol! Jackal, it seems I am not alone in my craziness...Awesome!

Well, after two sessions with him as companion I can heartily recommend getting Danse out of his power armour and bringing him along. He is quiet, doesn't get in the way and is incredibly effective with his weapon. He doesn't even ruin your stealth! He cracks me up too- just randomly pulls up a chair and has a coffee when I'm in a house scavenging lol! He's brilliant. :) He even takes great travelogue pics!

Pcsbdl2h.jpg

Because Bethesda are apparently obsessed with teddy bears...so maybe I should be too?

I've only had one 'flirt' option with him so far and it wasn't too bad, just telling him I care too much about him to just go and disappear on him. We shall see how things advance. Jayden's growing his haiur out now though- since Danse didn't knock him back he feels happiness is possible again for the first time since leaving the vault...

I hate Piper so much that once I have no further use for her I am opening the console, typing in setessential 0 and shooting her in the head. So you lost me there I'm afraid lol!

I haven't met Cait or MacReady yet nor have I had enough to do with Preston to get the options up. I do enough Minuteman quests for Preston but he's kind of abrupt to me so far. Maybe because I never took him along? I should I guess, then I could get rid of that hat and coat- which I am sure are a major reason I haven't got close to him.

Apparently I'm one of those people who only really likes one or two NPCs in a game. In DAO it was Zevran, Shale and Alistair, ME was Kaiden and Garrus DAII just sucked but I liked Fenris well enough and DAI...well everyone was so bland I didn't really care.

Anyway, maybe I'll meet the rest of this gang and like them! So far though, Codsworth and Danse are the only ones I can tolerate as companions.

I dunno, I only ever use Danse on BOS missions, and on BOS missions I'm always in my BOS suit that I store in bay 3. So haven't felt like taking him out of armor yet. Maybe later :)

Piper does get annoying, but I still like her voice. She's stationed in one of my settlements where I visit for the "xp boost" heh, but I no longer travel with her unless I have ammo to spare; her pistol is too weak compared to other companions. Danse is a beast in combat by comparison.

I like swapping companions based on what feels right, last night been helping the railroad so been using Deacon (he's freakin hilarious!)

I need a good companion because I am really really bad at shooters lol! I'd probably be better at this one if I was playing kb/m but it's the kind of game I like to chill with and WASD annoys the crap out of me so controller is just more comfy. Those thumbpads are horrid for aiming though... but I have VATS and VATS enhanced armour bits and now a kickarse companion in my unshelled Danse lol!

I am looking forward to meeting Deacon, though.

@ Peregrinus I spend far too much time fiddling with the console and prefecting shots- the screenshot ops are endless in tte game lol! I have been taking pics of him standing in front of billboards, like he's taking an ironic trip down memory lane... he really is a bit cracked is Jayden. :D

God I love this game! And I know TW3 got GOTY but for me, FO4 is game of the last ... however long ago it was DAO came out. Only I think I like this more than DAO.

@Lunafancy  I can't say I blame ya for doing it. I used to do that in Fallout 3. I think I had a collection of about 300 or more screenshots at one point. :)

I personally dislike bringing companions because I generally like to be stealthy but also because I took the lone wanderer perk.  I'm not too great at shooters either but the new VATS is growing on me. It's not as unwieldy as I originally felt.

Also, I felt CD Projekt Red really deserved that GOTY.  The game was pretty amazing overall, but it's their attitude towards their audience that really made them stand out. I do hope other companies see it as an example to follow.

BTW, about the lone wanderer perk, you might wanna know that dogmeat doesn't count into that perk, meaning you could still take him with you and get the benefits of that perk. This might be a bug (hence there is already a "fix" in mod-form, look for the "Simple Bug Fixes" mod), but I like to believe that this was intentional. From all the followers, dogmeat is the least...annoying.

Doesn't talk, also doesn't stand in the way most of the time and when he stands in front of an enemy (in the line of fire) he's small enough to still shoot that su**er into the face lol.

I really enjoy having him with me, seeing him actually move ahead of me, it's cool. I do like many of the real companions, but every once it a while it has to be the dog. :)

Oh and...a tipp: I too play very stealthily. If you wanna do that, just park your companion. Probably not a hint at all since you know you can do that, just wanna say that stealth can work perfectly fine even with a companion on your side. ;)

I think almost everyone thought TW3 deserved the award Peregrinus, but I personally didn't like it. I think most of the people who didn't enjoy it were women from what I've read. I really don't want to go into the gender politics thing here but IMO the game was clearly written by men, for men and as a woman it was just a real turn off. For me.

I'm sure some women loved it but I'm not one of them. Trust me, I wanted to love it- the griffins alone were reason enough to love it- but... no. At best I think I might give it another go down the track with the voices off - I can skip written dialogue easier than voiced- just so I can see all the monsters. :)

I agree that the company has a great attitude towards their [male] audience though and should be commended but I was really looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077 until I tired TW3. Now I'm not so excited though. Hopefully it was just the fact Geralt had to be male that led them down the path they took in TW3.

Fallout 4 on the other hand feels rather gender inclusive in it's direction and that's a good thing. The graphics are really not up to scratch for a GOTY contender though, I'll agree to that, and the mechanics in the building are *headdesk* frustrating for me so I'm not throwing a fit that it didn't win, but for me it is the best game since I don't know when.

But they need a new engine pronto.

@Lunafancy  Yeah, they do need a new engine.. I think the duct tape is just about empty.  :)   I can see them using something like Unreal engine 4 to do the next Elder Scrolls.

Aye, CDPR, one of the very few consumer-friendly game devs out there now. Bethesda has its modding community but hell putting 5 GB on the retail game disk and then forcing people to download 20 GB of data?! WTF?! Nah, that nudged it off the edge for me. CDPR remains the superior dev especially with their impressive Red 3 engine.

TW3 IMO deserves it wholeheartedly, even if I am enjoying FO4 just as much... if not for the engine issues.

Anyway, companions in FO4 do get annoying in the game, they keep running into my line of fire, you're right Godzilla, at least Dogmeat doesn't. Still, it's nice to have someone to take mosquito bites for ya... damn I hate those things. Waste of ammo to kill and they pack a serious punch especially on survival difficulty.

BTW check out Dogmeat mods!

http://www.nexusmods...ut4/mods/2795/?

Paladin Dogmeat haha :D

Anyway Luna, I can see what you mean with TW3, and you could be right that it's tailored for a male audience. Cyberpunk 2077 will apparently have both male/female PCs so highly likely they will cater for female gamers too.

BTW the building stuff is much less frustrating with this mod:

http://www.nexusmods...ut4/mods/1267/?

Unfortunately it uses Cheat Engine but based on experience from DAI, it's quite safe.

Speaking of CE... haha, Godzilla do you remember this same time last year? We needed to mod in - a freaking WALK button... a WALK button for crying out loud. Hell it's INDUSTRY STANDARD!!!

Also, speaking of Bethesda and engines, remember that the modding community is very established and experienced with Gamebyro as well. If they use a new engine, it needs to be just as robust, and CK familiar enough for the modders to pick up and work with. UE4 just won't work, it's better if they develop a new engine in house.

Yeah, I didn't think about that. Although I can't see UE4 not being accessible to modders.. I imagine there is more of a learning curve with those unfamiliar, well as having to deal with Epic which I can't see Zenimax or Bethesda doing.  I guess there will be more duct tape added to the Gamebryo.  heh

If they want to keep using Gamebyro, it'll need to be an engine rewrite. At the very least, they need to fix the damn problems with the ugrid format, it's too inefficient for the level of detail required in modern games, graphical enhancements especially shadows also need to be finally rendered by the GPU not the CPU.

In fact I think they made it worse this time around with texture streaming, I tested an ini setting in FO4:

bUseTextureUpgrade=0

Which removed all stutters looking around in heavy areas and improved performance exponentially. BUT - it seems the game depends on it now to render the high-res textures instead of just loading the high-res textures from the start.

Oh well, hopefully they'll patch it and if not, modders will fix it. The amount of work Bethesda puts into their games, it deserves a better foundation than a 13 yr old engine with duct tape.

@Jackal  I wonder if that texture streaming is something they needed to add for the consoles to run the game properly.  I have noticed some texture draw in on the console. It doesn't happen often but it's noticeable.

Aye, consoles themselves tend to have a higher CPU > GPU setup, the streaming helps with that. Same with UE3, still remember the first Mass Effect, the console port that it was. UE 3.5 for ME2 however, hot damn, like a whole new engine.

Still hoping to find a way to disable texture streaming, would save me spending $1500 for a new PC (AMD seriously dropping the ball lately, will need to change MB and go Intel) just to achieve a consistent FPS instead of drops in heavy areas.

Well, that was an interesting session. First up Danse friendzoned me! Boo! I'm sure he's just kidding himself though because he was harping on and on about me not walking off the edge because 'the brotherhood' doesn't want to lose me. Yeah brotherhood of one, you big faker. Ha! I upped my charisma when I levelled- we'll see who's playing hard to get next time Dansy... mind you I'm not talking to him for now, still miffed.

Anyway, at great risk of peeling back one too many layers of the onion that is my crazy... we were in Atomatoys and I saw the BIG Giddyup Buttercup in the showroom and I... I just had to have it.It's so big and lovely...I'll put it in my house and marvel at it daily... *ahem* Of course I had too much stuff but hey, I'm just going home, what the hell- put it in god mode and carry that sucker right on out of there.

Anyway I stopped in at Fairline Hill Estates because if I could find a workbench I wouldn't half mind making it home base... So, I get distracted by the big building just down the hill and wander off to have a looksee- and get ambushed by three, that's right THREE  suicide supermutants lol! But I'm in god mode, right? I lived through three simultaneous nuclear hits - and what an intense experience it was inside the irradiated inferno lol!

And now, once again I am up waaaay past my bedtime. *yaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwn*
