@Jackal  Congrats!  and welcome back.  :)    legs?  Ya know I didn't even think to shoot it in the leg.   Thanks for the tip!

Oh, and True Storms doesn't use less resources, it simply does more with the same. It also may make the game run better because the weather is a bit more stable.  When it rains, it lasts a much longer period, and same as the other weather conditions which feels a lot more realistic.

Yay for Jackal! :) Glad you're back on board, nice save there.

So it turns out that you can build the *ahem* for the minutemen and be a-okay with the BOS for now. I gave them the *cough, cough* after I used the *ahem* and was able to ge the *cough cough* back to take it to Sturges and finish off the quest. I did get a dressing down from Maxam for not building the *ahem* with them though lol!

The institute is visually amazing! Took a great screenshot...is a screenshot too spoilery for you Peregrinus?

As much as I love the game - and I really, really do love it - I have to say it's because of the world and the characters more than the actual story.  I'm just not sucked into the story like I was with Mass Effect, I have to say O preferred FNV for story but definitely FO4 for every other aspect (except for no weapons on back damn you Jackal).

I pre ordered Dragon's Dogma today...it has a sweet pre order package with an art book and music, plus I wanted to show them some love for doing the port they swore they'd never do. :) I am unreasonably excited for this game,m to the extent that is has knocked a bit of the gloss off FO4 for me. I'm kind of marking time now, which is a shame considering I was hyped to get sucked into FO4 for an extended stay. Ah well, after end game it will be okay to be a part time wastelander I guess, until the first DLC and CK mods come out that is.

Soooo Cyberpunk 2077 is supposed to be out next year some time, is that going to be the next one we all play or is there something else I've missed?

Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen, FFXV, Firefly Online, Cyberpunk 2077, 2016's going to be an amazing gaming year for me, especially if Squadron 42 gets released on time as well. :D

@Lunafancy  I do believe Cyberpunk is due out in 2017.

You guys can discuss whatever you like..  You do know that you can put a spoiler tag so I can't see unless I click on it ?   right?    :)

I thought it was 2017 too until I saw it as 2016 on EbGames 'coming soon' list- they are the aussie Gamespot- they are usually pretty good about things like that and there have been mention of a 'rumour' of a 2016 release date in PC Gamer... time will tell!

There's a new Deus Ex one coming out in 2016 too, isn't there?

I have no idea how to do a spoiler tag I'm afraid!

Thanks guys, I'm very happy to be back, got my UPS installed so no more fear of power surges exploding my PC again! :D

Playing it safe though... like, everything is working but I don't know if the surge could have still damaged a few components, don't want to stress out the PC too much with FO4 yet, at least not tonight :)

And Cyberpunk coming in 2016? That's... too good to be true! =/

@Peregrinus

Very interesting, might give it a go :)

And yeah - any melee enemy or charging enemy - aim for the legs. Works very well against high hitpoint legendary enemies too, as once they are limping around - they become just meatbags to kill at your leisure, no matter how many hitpoints they have.

@LunaFancy

Ah then you're all set :)

As for the story I don't think Bethesda can really compete with Bioware's old games like ME and DAO, and I don't think they should. I found Bioware's stories are more linear, where Bethesda's stories leave alot of room for your imagination to fill in the gaps yourself. Both have their own strengths. Still, I still reckon IMO that FO4's story is Bethesda's best thus far.

And yeah, the institute looks great, hope you didn't shoot *ahem* in the face as soon as you saw him heh (seriously, some people did apparently, and glitched their game!)

@Lunafancy  Yep, New Deus Ex in 2016.  I think it's called Mankind divided.

Haha! Jackal, I tried to smack him one during the convo but nothing happened, then I was curious to know what he said and I'd read some guides along the way trying to see how to keep Danse so no shooting. There may have been a number of dark and violent promises uttered though. :D

I've decided the Institute are vile because look how they live compared to the poor saps in the wasteland! Imagine the difference they could make if they weren't selfish elitist turds? I'm going to take great pleasure in ending them! Though really, forcing them to help out would be best... :)

I think the problem with the story here is that Bethesda have tried to force a linear story on us but in a half arsed kind of way to be honest. I lacks impact because they didn't want to go for linear 100% so you miss out on depth, but because they have locked you down with a heavily weighted purpose and backstory it just comes off as restrict5ive. Anyway it's still a great game, when I can forget the wife/kid thing- there was always this niggling 'should be hunting for Shaun' thought eating away at the fun you were having roaming around.

If post end game isn't as much fun as I hope I'll forget about Shaun once i have all three factions opened up and just enjoy the wasteland in the second run after I finish DD.

Cyberpunk does sound toio good to be true I guess but like I said, EB Games is usually pretty accurate, I doubt they'd put it up from a rumour...but I've been wrong in the past  and have no doubt I'll  be wrong again so time will tell.

Mass Effect Andromeda is slated for 2016 too...how do we feel about that? I'll be waiting and watching this forum before I buy for sure, but part of me craves a good old Bioware story... not that the good old Bioware remains I guess. We'll see. I'll always have Mas Effect I guess. *sniff*.

Some screenshots.

CAn't remember what I was doing for this one - I think I'd run the wrong way but liked the shot enough to stop.

True, but it's very difficult to balance the linear epic approach with the sandbox design overall, very difficult, especially since the sandbox design allows players to write their own story, which can in turn, conflict with their intended story. As such I can't hold Bethesda to too high of a standard, and have to congratulate them at the least for making a story that is ALOT better than their other games like Skyrim/FO3/Oblivion, though Morrowind's story was incredible actually.

If Cyberpunk 2077 is released this year I would be worried more than excited, as I want CDPR to take their time with it.

ME:A troubles me somewhat, on one hand after the disappointment of DAI and the practice of EA shuffling the whole team to the next project without bothering with post-release support... I decided to not buy the hype. Yet at the same time the ME team has always done right by me, sure ME3's ending made go "WTF" but they DID fix it IMO, and also released Citadel DLC which was excellent... so on the other hand I want to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Overall I decided to wait.

And yeah, the institute design is nothing short of breath-taking :)

Just have to be careful with spoilers, how does one use the spoiler tag?

Yeah, I hear about this spoiler tag but I've never been able to find it lol! Peregrinus claims knowledge though so I say front up a walk through for us plebs, man! :D

I think, for me, I'd have been happeier with a slightly less ... theoretically compelling focal point for the main story, because I don't care about the kid, but I know I'm supposed to on a cultural level and unless I wanted to relegate Jayden to the #1 position on some Most Deadbeat Dad Ever list he had to go find Shaun... it just made me resentful. He/she really could just as easily have woken up to a changed world with a cryptic clue that made him hunger to find out who froze him, you know? Would have fit in better with the play style. Like FNV, you know? You were going to find that chip but it could keep without you feeling as if you were morally reprehensible lol!

I'm in the same place as you re ME:A. I actually loved ME 3 and with the MEHEM (Mass Effect Happy Ending Mod) you don't even have to hate the end... and Citadel will always be one of my favourite experiences in gaming. But after DA:I... I mean I know it's a different team on ME:A but still, that bad taste lingers on.

I'll definitely wait and see before buying, but I am sadly losing the struggle against burgeoning excitement lol!

I missed this quest entirely it seems... I saw the Silver Shroud Radio but didn't click on it, no prizes for guessing what I'll be doing after I finish off the Institute quest I'm on.

I'll have o swing by Sanctuary and pick Danse up, I had him with me when I had to team up with a sunth and as I initated the quest convo I hear this voice from behind me "if that thing so much as looks at me the wrong way I'm ending it" lol! He went on to hate me starting the quest so I reloaded and left him behind. Note to self- park Danse before hanging with synths lol!

@Lunafancy  The Silver Shroud outfit is kinda awesome!

I would actually wear it everywhere if it had some radiation protection but it doesn't and can't be modified.

Heck, since CBBE came out, all the top files are all CBBE-related. Guess that can be expected... *sigh* where's my guns on back mod? :(

I'm like hoping there's this team of quiet modders secretly working on it... and planning to wow everyone with a surprise release - like what the CBBE team did.

Yeah, it really was to be expected. Those hormon-guided kids are all going like crazy for their pr0n-mods now. :D I'd like to say "it'll pass", but I'm not so sure. I am sure that the "good" mods are still coming, definitely. Just wait till the GECK arrives. :)

I'm fairly blah on the CBBE stuff but there is always an audience for that sort of thing..

I'm amazed by all the great stuff that's already available and without the CK.   I imagine that the "gun on back" mod will happen once CK is available, well as the ingame mod organizers, optimized/better loading textures, etc.

And hopefully the boy models will get some love eventually lol! Not necessarily wang related love, just nice tweaks in general I mean. :)

Oh and a big fat Happy New Year to you all, since it's like 8pm on the 31st here now. :D

Fireworks are here! HNY all :)

Glad I got my PC back just in time for new years too, with a free new AM3+ MB. It's brand new, working fine with my windows 7 setup - just plug and play! Making me reconsider my original plan to get a new MB+i7. Now that it's AM3+ a FX 8320 or 8370 would do fine and it's very cheap, and with the money I save on that might as well get a new Vcard, so mid-Jan should stop pulling my hair out at FO4's performance issues.

I imagine the guns on back mod would require GECK, as there will need to be a script to equip/unequip the holstered weapon. Still, I'm checking everyday for a miracle... lol, it's just one of those things. My character just ain't complete without her sniper rifle on her back.

But instead well, have to make do with the boobie mods, next there will boobie physics and stuff. Heck you know what would be awesome? Weapons on back WITH PHYSICS! You know - like the moving bag on the surveyor outfit.
