Nah, different one then lol!Or my memory is off- it's been a long time since I played it on ps3... I'm sure the one I caught sleeping was a baby... :D

As for Everfall- are you mad? Gah! All those zombies and skeletons and the tentacle monster in the dark freaked me out way more than a dragon lol!

Yeah but zombies and skeletons are easy to kill and that big ape thing was easy to climb, and I just sprinted away from the tentacles (as you're supposed to lol) :P

Think I'm only on the first stage of the quest however as I haven't fought the tentacle monster.

Besides the assassin block skill (which I have on my RMB with my primary skill set - YES, blocking with mouse buttons!) is awesome for enemies that can't be knocked down and staggered by my relentless biting wind attacks. Rank 5 strider and rank 7 assassin now, I need to level up my strider vocation however it seems, I need that "arm-strength" augment if I'm going to take on that dragon in the future!

But hell going to miss all my cool assassin moves for a while! (Though yay, I can use ensnare and downpour volley again!) But I'll switch back once I level up strider. I need that augment!!! My first pawn, Kai, is rank 9 fighter now, going to switch her to sorcerer/warrior to get those +50 defence boosts from augments, then switch her back.

I really like the flexibility of the class/vocation system and it's surprisingly deep for an action RPG. Upgradeable gear although not on par with FO4's exceptional crafting system, is great as well. Having alot of fun, thanks for the headsup, just hope you understand my caution before as this is a rarity as far as JRPGs go - an actually decent PC port.

I read in some reviews that when DD was originally released though, Capcom immediately threw DLC in your face. So yeah... still cautious with the publisher. Glad they didn't fk DD:DA up regardless.

Holy crap, just rode and killed (finally) a GRIFFIN! That was intense!

In one instance he got a pawn under his claw and I dashed in to save him but then it tried to take off, so I grabbed his tail! And LOL what a flight! Slipped, lost my grip and dropped to my death...

Then more attempts, and after several more intense moments of climbing up his neck in freakin' MID AIR struggling to hold on so I don't fall and die - finally got him grounded, then as he was swipping his beak against me I grabbed his head as it was trying to kill me, was in a perfect position once I got a grip and sliced away at his eyes and brain!

Great fight! Level 30 character now with Rank 6 strider... only one more rank to that rank 7 augment - was really tough holding onto that thing!!!

Haha! Awesome stuff Jackal! I'm still looking for a griffin *sadface* I managed to stumble into Soulflayer Canyon tonight...yeah the name says it all lol! Was attacked by harpies as soon as I entered it then couldn't find a way down from the point I came in from so I saved...and jumped to my not quite but close death lol!

Scoffed some herbage and then was attacked by more harpies-only these ones were much MUCH more powerful, good indication that there is no way down from where I was for a reason lol! I dies several times but not before I shot an arrow or three into an ogre on a distant rock bridge causing him to fall to his death! Decided there was no way I was crossing the canyon floor at my sad level 19 so went back out and ferrystoned back to Gran Soren to sort out my gear - I thought I was suffering a mysterious fps drop when I first started the game, only to discover I was, in fact, overburdened lol! Not before I'd restarted and googled I might add. *smh*

There was a fight with some bandits that was gate crashed by a chimera, which was especially awesome seeing as an enemy mage had blinded me lol! Swirling purple smoke and health bars was all i could see haha! Yeah, I died in that fight. :P Changed my tactics to fight the bandits closer to cliffs (so I could pick them up and throw them off when they went down no less ) and didn't see the chimera again. Tomorrow night I am looking up griffin locations and heading out with a mission in mind! I think I need to put in more time on the game, two hours a night is insufficient - you're streaking ahead of me! Saturday is offically set for sacrifice!

I'm really glad your're enjoying it so much Jackal, it's really great to be sharing a game I love with a newcomer and seeing your excitement at the discovering the mechanics is reminding me of the thrill I felt the first time too. It's making an already thoroughly enjoyable experience even better. Cheers!  :)

I caught a break ;) Work doesn't pick up until February for me, which is abit annoying as Xcom 2 is coming on the 5th.

Never been to Soulflayer Canyon yet, but yeah I agree there's alot of great moments, I'm surprised you haven't fought the griffin yet, it's circling overhead outside the main gate of Gran Soren after accepting the Wyrm Hunt quests. Whatever you do, just don't try what I did - grabbing his tail lol - way too slippery for a grip.

Also speaking of ogres falling to their death... I was back in Everfall again to get the badge token there which I missed - I'm just exploring now, taking my time. And the ogre there was back!

So I climbed on his back with my new augment allowing me to climb all over him without losing too much stamina - and he was going hectic, swinging around trying to throw me off, then I climbed onto his head while he was right on the ledge and started slicing non-stop until he tipped over! With me STILL on his head! And we fell alllllllllll the way down to the bottom of Everfall! It was so epic, and I thought I was going to die BUT...

As he fell to his death he actually broke my fall too lol so I survived! That's one way to get to the bottom - in style on a monster's head haha! I couldn't stop laughing when it happened :D

Having so much fun with DD:DA, I decided to look up on a potential sequel and well...

http://www.gamespot....-/1100-6424908/

*sigh* Even though it is multi-platform, it's going to be a F2P MMORPG with microtransactions. It's like KOTOR and TOR all over again, the latter I don't own as it's MMORPG.

Oh well, looks like DD:DA's PC port will be Capcom's one-hit-wonder for me. Will have to wait years for a real sequel it seems, unless someone else please copy the bloody large-creature combat mechanics.

Yeash, I haven't had the wyrm hunt invite yet- I've been  messing about too much not progressing the story...I know, I know it's  hard to believe of me isn't it lol! I'm also running south west exploring, which doesn't help matters since there be no griffins in that direction. I'll do that story progressin thing today in my dedicated DDDA daytime playtime.

They released DDO at the end of August but it's Japan only. :(  There is chatter that the west might get a look in if the pc sales are good enough. Hopefully, if they do release it to the west, they'll understand it's a different market place and do an ESO switch to a pay to play model with zero micro-transactions. But it isn't as if you can't avoid the micro-transactions if you want I guess...

Reviews for it are pretty good- albeit vague since the reviewers by and large don't speak Japanese and as such have NFI what is really going on lol! The fight mechanics are the same and the monsters are amazing and you can play it with your mates- all in all it sounds pretty good. Now we can just hope for a western release.

This guy has the rather recent English patch that translates the UI at least.

A sequel would be nice but is years awy, DDO in the west would fill that gap at least. I've read that the original game was heavily cut due to budget constraints so there might be enough idea left out for a sequel- apparently there was hang glider flight originally! Then again I say I want a sequel- and if it is agood one, I do. But really I think a decent retexture of the original would do me just as well- hopefully some modder will be able to do that now it's on PC.

Yeah well, not the MMO type, I tried it before when I was bored, didn't like it, not to mention unreliable internet. For SC I'm more interested in its Squadron 42 as well. I still have a copy of WOW sitting around in one of my boxes that I never opened. So very uninterested in the genre. I hope they will make a DD2, or that someone else will finally use this innovation in large-creature combat in their own game.

In DDDA You can actually ride and fly harpies by grabbing them BTW, alot of features are beneath the surface, hence alot of surprises for me. Griffin riding, using ogres to break your fall lol, I'll never forget that. You should try it the next time you're at Everfall haha

I'm the same way at heart but I keep telling myself I should try to break free of the anti social thing I have going on... posting here regularly is actually a huge step for me lol!

I usually pick up one mate from mmo type games when I play them- had one from Monster Hunter ps2 days that lasted through a couple of games on xbox live even...made one or two on ED even, but yeah I feel like I'm missing out on some sort of life experience so I keep trying.  I picked up a copy of ESO when it was on sale not long before FO4 so I figure that will be the tool of choice for 2016. Who know, I might even get caught up with a group that doesn't annoy me for once. I have a low tolerance for humanity in general.

Man, those harpies in Soulflayer Canyon were snow harpies- big enough to have all four of us ride them they were lol! Harpies freak me out too much to try to grab on...I just pick them up when they're wounded and throw them off cliffs.

I don't think we've given enough love to the 'throw your enemies off cliffs' mechanic Jackal. True, it isn't as much of a thrill as climbing and stabbing or riding and stabbing, but how satisfying is it? And the fact that you noone is safe from you? Genius. Throwing annoying NPCs off cliffs should be in every game. Don't you agree?

Today is dedicated to DDDA so by tonight I hope to share stories of griffins, dragons, manticores and god knows what- have you seen the Bestiary on the wiki?? There are some I haven't even seen from my first semi playthrough! And I promise to try to ride the ogre down the cliff in Everfall- I'll even try to shadowplay it haha!

I can't even begin to imagine that to be honest, 26 mls of rain is about as close as we get here lol! I do envy you the cold though...maybe because it's 34celsius+ here today and 5 celsius is about as cold as it ever gets so I don't know any better though.  ;)

It's not the social element that annoys me with MMOs (though it does get annoying) it's the generic questlines, endless grinding and farming (though yes, with DD's combat system it can get away with it), lag, disconnects, pay-to-play model that locks features behind paywalls when I'd rather just spend $100 and get a full game. Not to mention unlike single player games I can't just pause and continue later.

I was so bored and annoyed in my first and last MMO once I got a high level character I went griefing once lol, I still remember a crowded farming spot that I went to and there were a bunch of KSers or kill-stealers. So I logged off, and went back in with a high level character and killed everyone in it haha (was a PvP server).

All the annoying kids were crying, then a few of them logged off, and logged back in with their high level characters trying to find me haha (they were actually the nice ones lol - but I killed indiscriminately heh), then after they gave up looking for me (I was invisible), I popped out of the shadows and killed everyone again lol. It was funny while it lasted. So I do have a dark side especially when annoyed...

Yeah the picking up and throwing them off cliffs mechanics is great but in the end, the real star is the climbing of monsters for me, cause I haven't seen it before :)

My god! I spent the last two days trying to get from Gran Soren to the fortress beseiged by goblins... and wah an arduous trek it's been lol!

Firstly- Jackal, are you sure you didn't encounter the tentacle monster at the bottom of Evenfall? Because once again I had to run the gauntlet of it's slimy, teethy tendrils and it was No Fun At All! I want to know your secret!

Okay, back to the saga that has been my weekend... goblins, hobgoblins, chimeras, cyclops and dragons- I've encountered them all on the journey and died without saving to boot which added god only knows how long to the experience. I did see the small dragon in the rocks- after a long winded and circuitous exploration-  and had my arse handed to my by it, subsequently realising I hadn't saved for quite a long time....

I retraced the more direct route to the dragon (since I had to go that way) but encountered a chimera this time (on top of the ubiquitous goblin packs) so by the time we'd ealt with that it was night time... which is when we ran into the dragon (or more accurately Drake, hence it's small stature). That encounter went no better than the first and we ran... straight into a pack of goblins AND a cyclops! lol!

Also, after this I added mods!

I did an ENB, one to stop the lantern from blinding me, one that lets you jump 1.5x as high (awesomeness!) the watermark remover, added the theme from the original DD 'into Free' into the game and one that makes a riff from 'Into Free' the music for imminent victory lol!

I had a play with them to see and the lantern one is a must have imo! I'm thinking about the multiple saves one too.

Huh? The tentacle monster for me only showed up

Spoiler
.

And LOL you took the LONG way to the fortress, and met the dragon like me! I found out you're actually meant to go westward from Gran Soren, there's a Quarry there, a shortcut that bypasses alot of the horrors in South Gransys including the dragon.

Also, I noticed your style of fighting is very different from mine, here's what I use for Strider's melee (note that two of them can be used by any class that uses daggers):

Primary Skills (Daggers)

LMB - Biting/Cutting/Shearing Wind - ESSENTIAL combat skill, dash forward and strike repeatedly at an enemy at all sides, very useful against shield guys too as you get them in the back and stagger-lock them. Good for evasion as well as closing the distance quickly too.

RMB - (Class dependant, evasion/block/CC skill)

E - Scarlet/Hundred Kisses - VERY useful for large enemies as it's the only dagger skill you can use when climbing, and if you keep tapping it, it's constant DPS without the stamina drain as long as you keep slicing. It does ALOT more damage than simple light or heavy attacks.

Tip: When climbing enemies I get to a weak spot first, and then go crazy with scarlet kisses slicing non-stop. More DPS that way.

Another tip: Get the core skills that improve your light/heavy attacks, they stagger much better.

BTW, Magick Archer vocation is sooooooooooooo.... OP with homing arrows and ability to lock onto multiple enemies at once! And that dagger-shockwave skill is so awesome.

Now that I'm confident with the mechanics I actually restarted the game on hard mode, but the hard mode was like NG+ so it used all my equipment and xp... I didn't want that - so I started a new game, and then switched to hard mode which meant I'm playing hard mode starting lvl ONE :D

Stepped outside the village and got one-hitted by a goblin! lol

But now lvl 15, rank 6 strider and just reached Gran Soren, gameplay is more unforgiving of mistakes sure but I like it :)

Surprised there's mods for Dragons' Dogma, just checked the nexus... and what do you know, there's a nude mod... of course! lol

I might upload a battle myself later.

Ha! That quarry is just as hard- I've been there before. Wall to wall goblins and bandits. I was avoiding it til I was a higher level so went off exploring my way there.

Annnd you've managed to suck all the fun out of sharing.

No offense, but I play the way I like to play and remember the bit where I've played the game before and introduced you to it? I'm set up for how I play and I'm using the highest level of ALL of those dagger skills anyway plus have all the core skills I could afford at the time, I'm level 21 atm-  maybe it's different to your style but it is how I like it. ;)  Also, I don't do magic ever- I don't like it at all and my only concession is having a healer along.  And this one is shite but the only healer I could find at the time which was as annoying as hell but still better than none. Sorcerers everywhere!

I'd assumed you went down the Everfall for Lure of the Abyss when you said you'd not met the tentacle monster was it before that then?

The mods are coming... someone's even doing a re-texture!

Only sharing what I found when playing a Strider, I find it interesting that we could play the same class and have such different styles! I do like the combat system in that way, you can really tailor it.

My normal game I played until lvl 40, Strider/Assassin/Ranger/Magick Archer

Now I'm planning a Strider/Ranger/Magick Archer > Sorcerer > Mystic Knight > Warrior > Assassin cross-class hybrid, and it suits the story I have of my head of my character starting off as just a hunter and fisherwoman, finding magical talent, then using it to bolster her physical prowess, and ending up being a deadly assassin at her peak :D

I went down to Everfall first during the quest, but after running away from the tentacle monster I could go back there just fine with only the undead/ogre to deal with.

It took them a few patches but Bethesda finally fixed the texture streaming issue with patch 1.3.47

Areas that used to run really bad for me like Boston Commons and Financial District run at a nice steady pace now.   :)

Oh, they also added HBAO+ for those that can use it.  And physics enabled clutter for folks with nvidia cards.

Really? They fixed FPS in Boston Commons/Financial District?

I was using ENBboost to get the textures to actually stream in, instead of the LOD bug where it's low-res everywhere after a while. Now are you saying without ENBboost it's actually working? Still waiting on guns on back though argh...

yep, it seems to have fixed it for me. I am using the mipmap fix still in the .ini though .   I saw the difference almost immediately. It's generally a horrific slideshow for me right around the Swan lake but now it's smooth.

I have no idea. lol  But if it's running smoothly for me, for the most part.. I can imagine it will run fabulous for everyone else.  Yes, it's a beta but very stable.  I've run a new character with mods installed for several days now with no issues.  I have 83 mods in total but only 48 of those are actually mods. The rest are retextures.

Unsure if the mipmapping issue and the texture streaming are related issues though.. The game most definitely runs much better for me but I do still get that mipmap bug  where textures don't look like they have loaded in completely, especially on things that are closer like clothes but not as often as before.

Have you tried sprinting around Trinity Tower and then to Boston Commons and then around Goodneighbor's entrance (especially after you moved the

Spoiler
to near Mass Fusion)? That's usually what I use to test CPU performance. It spikes heavy during that sprint.

Not sure I want to get back into FO4 yet, for me right now with DDDA's shields on back, bows/daggers being holstered/unholstered on the fly it's just so immersive to the point the lack of guns on back would be too much for me to swallow at this point if I go back to FO4. At least until I finish DDDA, but by that time I'll be busy with Xcom 2

NEXT WEEK FOLKS! X COM TWO!!!

@Jackal  Let me put it to you like this.  I used to dread making my way to Goodneighbor because how horrible it was making the journey there from anywhere else.  Trinity Tower actually wasn't so bad but right outside of it was once again not a happy place for me.  With the new patch and not even using the mipmap fix .ini,  my fps are stable in the entire financial district/The Fens area.  Suffice to say that I'm very pleased at what Bethesda has accomplished with the patch.

Nice! How about vertibird drops into Boston Commons? :D

I'm going to check it out once the patch drops out of beta, I have too many mods already so I'm cautious with patches.
