I usually buy the card that gives me the most for my money but I have to admit that I kinda tend towards Nvidia. While I don't like their narrow-minded approach to technology and exclusive support for certain software and effects, I do admire the result.
PhysX! It began in Borderlands 2 - unfortunately the only game with truly impressive and widely used PhysX-effects to date. I started playing with an AMD Radeon 5850, a good card that I used for almost a year at that time, but obviously incapable of supporting PhysX. Then I saw the effects in a video and, well...I totally fell for the advertising you could say. Meaning I bought an Nvidia GTX 660 Ti and played the hell out of Borderlands 2. I really love the game and the PhysX effects are simply astonishing.
It still sucks that they guard their technology behind a technological iron curtain, but if you have an Nvidia, you're good. So it only sucks for everyone else. Tehe. *duck & cover* ![]()

There are no dx12 compatible cards on the market because there is no dx12 and no dx12 games.
But there will be. New cards will arive but the Titan will of course not be "upgraded" somehow...
Mhm...am I wrong? Did Microsoft announce something like...dx12 being backwards compatible? ![]()

Yes too bad DAI was designed for the consoles
And the consoles use AMD and Frostbyte favours AMD Mantle
Too bad Bioware does not want to give their codes out so modders could fix the game for them and Nvidia could pump out a great driver for it :-)

Thank you, he will be turning 1 year old pretty soon. He was a last chance rescue kitten. I can't believe nobody wanted him. He talks like a tribble and follows me around like a dog.
Post pic of kitten when you can. I love cats.

I'm fairly sure you are correct but I do remember seeing an article that stated that Maxwell based Nvidia cards well as Mantle capable AMD cards will be able to take advantage of DX12 features. I'll see if I can find that article.. I was actually hoping that Mantle would be widely adopted by everyone since it's an open source software that AMD is sharing with everyone including Nvidia. I think offloading the workload to a powerful GPU instead of utilizing pure CPU power is a good thing for everyone. Low to high end can gain good performance from this technique.

I agree with you Dx12 is supposed to do the same as Mantle, it is just an API :-)
So for those of us who will have the Titans we can swing both ways :-)

Ah...okay got it. ALL dx11 cards will support dx12, but as of now it us not sure how much of the actual software architecture is supported by dx11 cards.
Well it would be reasonable to assume that there wont be a full dx12 support for dx11 cards. That would only work it Nvidia can see into the future. I know the news say that they worked with Microsoft for years together on dx12, but for a full support Microsoft would have to work FOR Nvidia, catering to their hardware architecture of 2014 and 2015, which will probably not happen.
It also should not happen because I hope they make dx12 as fast as possible. Graphic card developers than have to build the hardware to support it. It has always been this way. ![]()

Not to worry we do not want to confuse the gaming companies too fast now with Mantle and DX12.
Hell Bioware took 2 months to give us a walk toggle :-)

Intel actually showed some DX12 demos running on DX11 hardware and DX12 can add up to 50% more performance for those cards. Developers so far have not shown a great interest in fully utilizing it though. The possibility of DX12 and Mantle is very promising but it feels as if the support for them will be extremely fragmented.

I agree with you, but the way the gaming industry is going pretty soon PC gaming might be dead. The console market might overtake us PC gamers.
The reason why I have faith in Blizzard and Chris Roberts and small companies who will remember who made them rich when they first came out :-)

MatrixGirl,
I don't think PC gaming will ever die especially due to strategy RTS/TBS games not agreeing with game controllers. I think we can thank games like Civilization V, X-Com Enemy Unknown, Company of Heroes, and Total War series of games. Also, there is so much amazing content being made by indy developers specifically for PC. Lot of old PC veteran programmers and artists are also going the crowdsourced route. Thank goodness for that because EA, Ubisoft, and Activision have pretty much abandoned the PC gamers that got them where they are to begin with. I'll note some amazing stuff I've had the pleasure of playing through indy/kickstarter. Divinity Original Sin, Shadowrun returns/Dragonfall, Wasteland 2, Bastion, Grim Dawn, Deadlight, Trine 2, and Mars War Logs.
Oh, I almost left out Witcher 3. Far as I'm concerned , CD Projekt Red is the new Bioware for RPGs.

I am looking forward to Star Citizen from Chris Roberts who said it will be PC only and never consoles.
I agree all those companies were put on the map by U.S. PC gamer and now they laugh in our faces.
I too look forward to Indy games :-)
Blizzard loved Diablo 3 I am still playing it, but they managed to make one for the console and it is probably bad on the console because of the type of game it is :-)

I guess it depends on your age and what you really want. Me I'm content with 4 years before I have no choice but to replace a GPU. I can get by w/o full DX12 support for a while as long as what I want to run doesn't require full DX12.
Yes the Titan is true to it's name - it does it with brute force but, it does out perform anything else Nvidia has and, I am not an AMD fan at all so, for me it is the way to go.

Peregrinus,
Grim Dawn is my "go to" game of late.
Are you playing the PoE beta?
Other indie games of note:
Age of Decadence
Deathspank
E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy
Legend of Grimrock
Legends of Aethereus
Lords of Xulima
Starpoint Gemini 2
Tales of Maj'Eyal
Counting down to the beta for Darkest Dungeon ... 12 days.
Lot's of people don't like Steam for various reasons but I find it a great resource for indie games that we would never see in a store.
