I don't know if any of you have Amazon Prime but if you do, don't miss out on "Man in the High Castle" and "Bosch".   Awesome stuff!

i do most of my non-food shopping at amazon, though i don't see myself paying... um, what is it $80/per month for the privilege of using prime.

as for mass effect, in me2-3 i look at thermal clips and the first thought is rather blatant, thermal clips just make no sense at all, even their "reasoning" behind it sounds like bs. though my second thought is: where do you load them? i see no ports, most of the firearms don't even look big enough to hold them, they're just to sleek and slender. and who decided how many rounds can be fired with each weapon? as several have so few shots they seem almost useless... if you're an infiltrator and you're stuck with a mantis you're kind of screwed with only having a maximum 10 rounds on you at anytime. who the hell thought that was a good idea?

i know the lore says it's not actually ammo... however, if "no ammo" flashes when you run dry i'll call t-clips ammo.

i've just had a windows update that completely messed with my settings, one thing that really pissed me off was it set my display to run at 30hertz (was @59), it took me about 20 minutes of me completely freaking-out over the massive drop in performance to figure it out... why i didn't think of that first, idk, i guess i was just too busy having a heart attack. so, just a heads up to any of you guys still hanging around.

I've been having a bear of a time with Unity.  One of the tools I use requires logging in online and due to updates to Unity 5, the access is unavailable which has stalled me out this month.. I feel like I've accomplished nothing.. *sigh*

It's not coming until June, still I'm happy I can avoid the Steam platform as much as I can.

 

Valve recently removed the compulsory updating whenever I'm online - for like a month, only to make it compulsory again - which has been the one major issue I've had with steam since I first installed it. Not happy!

 

I have to also unplug my cable for the internet whenever I play steam games, otherwise even on offline mode it'll decide to "call home" and make several games unplayable without updating - sometimes in the gigs. Worse when I play modded setups, and everytime I do go online I go online with the knowledge that all my other games will be made unplayable not just the one I want to update.

 

Honestly I don't know why people support it, even Origin from EA was a more user-friendly client from an offline gamer's point of view.

@Jackal  That's really odd since I have steam offline all the time and it does not update unless I tell it to when I go online.. 

 

Origin is actually much worse about updates since you can't even play games offline without getting authorization  for the game and also updating to the latest client versions.  

 

The best is GOG since you have full control.. Steam is still much less draconian in comparison to Origin or whatever they call it these days.

That was years ago, now try playing a game once Steam realises there is an update available online; even if you are on offline mode it calls "home" as long as you are connected to the internet, then renders the game unplayable until you update, including games that you specifically set "auto updates" to off. Only way offline mode seems to work on Steam is by unplugging the cable so it can't call home.

 

If you have a way of dealing with this without unplugging my cable whenever I game tell me! Steam is really driving me nuts!

 

The last time I used Origin was with DAI, the client didn't give me any headaches, updates optional and offline mode fully functional. Has it changed?

once upon a time i used a program called skyrim unplugged, it basically forced steam to keep it's grubby little hands off skyrim, worked till a steam update a while back, though maybe there are similar utilities for other steam games, and if there are, they might be updated somewhat regularly... so i have no idea, i guess. but you might get lucky if you look around, maybe utilities at mod sites?

So what happened to FO4 while I was playing DDDA? I've finished the game and am in NG+ now so figured I should at least finish FO4 before the DLC hits so I jump back in and... where did my smooth as butter performance go?

 

Laggy as hell (as in I have a headache after 15 mins) loading screens that take forever...WTH?

 

What update fried the game? Certainly put the brakes on my DLC enthusiasm, that's for sure! Back to DDDA NG+ for me!

 

I was excited to see NMS on GOG too, though I am less excited by NMS than I was last year thanks to all the false starts. Hopefully I will re-enthuse myself by June but no pre order for me.

Yeah but that has to be individual games one by one and can glitch up the exe depending on the method used to bypass Steam. Not to mention they'll probably ban you for solving your own problems that they refuse to. Sad... sad...

 

I only bought 3 games recently, FO4, XCOM2 and DDDA. I saw the news that the new Hitman game is out but... ONLINE ONLY FOR A SINGLE PLAYER GAME! So, no buy and franchise is now dead to me, a pity, I played since the first game.

Yeah loading times have seriously increased in FO4, but performance wise after loading it's smooth as butter for me especially after my minor upgrade.

 

As for pre-ordering from GOG there's really no risk, 30 day guarantee isn't it?

Jackal, my other cat just had $500 worth of tests (apparently nothing wrong with him) after a hefty round of upchucking so I'm officially broke lol!

 

I kind of got over it after the dead end hype of last year, I may be interested when it gets closer... if I am better off financially then we'll see.

 

Why is my Fo4 suddenly suffering performance issues then? Is it payback for deserting the game for DDDA perhaps?   Ah well, maybe when I've finished NG+ I'll sort it out, the GECK will have been out for a bit by then too.

I got bored in new game plus for DDDA, probably because I'm level 170 and I'm 1-hitting everything even on hard mode lol

 

Heck as soon as I started NG+ I ran all the way from Cassardis naked to kill the drake in SW gransys which I did in 10 seconds lol, just ran straight up to him, grabbed his chest and hacked away haha (I'm using the 2nd highest DPS daggers in the game so). Might use some other daggers just to balance up the game, right now I'm too OP.

 

I'm surprised at the performance issues for FO4, I only got a minor upgrade with my R7, but I'm running almost everything Ultra 1080p even with Godrays with 60+ FPS in most areas, my shadow distance is on high, and the FX-6300 is faster than I thought, was going to get an 8-core but all sold out and didn't want to reinstall windows for Intel. Must be a driver issue, or mods?

No mods on FO4 as yet, nothings changed from the last time I played it AFAIK other than whatever updates came along. It's just a bit 'grabby' as I run around... maybe I'm just used to the fluidity of DDDA and the contrast make sit more noticeable. Dunno.

Does anyone else have the FO4 season pass?

 

I wish I had the luxury of being bored in NG+ but sadly in a moment of 'I shouldn't play games when I'm nodding off; idiocy I hit continue when I delivered the 20 wakestones rather than taking the option of enjoying an extended jaunt in post dragon Gransys and missed all the awesome of the new critters and exposition that goes with it. So NG+ I must do until I take out Grigori once more. I'm only level 51 (finished Everfall @ 52 from memory) anyway so BBI is still going to kick my butt. It's all a bit easy though and I have a second STEAM account linked up through family share so I might start that one soon and borrow my own pawn. Just have to let the friends I have free pawns with know so they can friend that account too... I'm rather attached to my two freebies now lol!

just out of curiosity, is anyone here playing the DA:I DLC these days??? I actually refuse to, throwing more money at that mess didn't sound like a good idea, even if that dlc doesn't start breaking things. well, back to my point... does anyone know if Bioware/EA actually sold the "real" ending to Inquisition as DLC? or is it more like the Which Hunt DLC from DA1?

Well, I haven't played DAI for a year now, and the DLCs seem to be $25 each with no bundle, in addition to reports of being very short and limited gameplay value for its price. Combined with being disillusioned with EA's direction and the DA team's resentment towards fans, not sure if it's worth trying really, but that's my opinion and not to mention I haven't played it.

BBI is nuts, even at lvl 170. Death is still impossible to beat.

 

I made a mistake as well, I thought I made a copy of my savegame prior to delivering the wakestones (I wanted to finish the story and see what happens, and then go back to my older save) but I didn't - so I can only either go back to lvl 160 (my post-daimon save) or continue with NG+... annoying! I'm giving it a break until I make a decision how to proceed, the one-save-only thing is very annoying.

 

And yeah, performance wise, DDDA is just solid, but that's bc it's an old game, not next-gen.

I hear  Throwblasts are the bomb (pun intended) when it comes to Death Jackal, or so the redditors report anyway. I'm thinking I might head on over to BBI around 70- seems to be the recommendation over on reddit anyway.

 

I guess I'm trying to work out whether the smoothness of DDDA is just making me notice things I didn't see on FO4, or if the things I am seeing there now are new...I 'm just not sure if was always like this and I just didn't 'see' it before.

 

The contrast in the colours and scenery could be making things seem worse too- I'm running a super pretty ENB on DDDA and it looks really lush. It's a stark contrast to the post apocalyptic wasteland scenery which might be affecting my perception as well, if you know what I mean.

I don't normally use consumable stuff, probably have like 1000 of them at storage by now haha

 

One thing about getting into FO4 or any other action game after playing DDDA... hell the movement is so clunky. DDDA handles movement of the environment so freakin well.

Yes! This it what I'm thinking might be the issue Jackal... I'm finding the animations really clunky. I fear DDDA has ruined me lol! Plus I just really enjoy the game. How amazing was the Grigori battle? Epic.

Heh yeah Grigori was fun, Ur-Dragon even better, but I found the fire-drakes/cursed dragons much more challenging than the high dragons, bc their heart on the chest is very hard to cling onto.

My one encounter with the Ur Dragon was prior to finishing the game, I think I was level 50? Anyway I used two wakestones before I worked him out and then just as I had him almost dead the bugger flew off! Grrr! I had to earn those two wakestones back too lol! Haven't tried him online as yet.

 

Does anyone actually understand the FO4 DLC? I mean is it a new questline or just making robots to fight each other? I still have to do Bunker Hill, but I've kind of forgotten whats going on, having had three months of DDDA addiction...

Ur Dragon has to be fought over multiple encounters, he flies off after a while - just rest in the inn and go back lol

First time I killed him took me 3 encounters. At lvl 170 it took me 2, I got him down to 0.05% health before he flew off!!! I thought I would have nailed him then!

 

No idea about the FO4 DLC, its not out yet right?
