Yeah I figured I'd go back when I was higher and it wouldn't be such a hard fight but then I finished the game accidentally and got caught up in NG+ and keep forgetting to go back lol!

FO4 DLC rolled out this week- Automotron came out on the 22nd I tried it out last night, got as far as picking up the quest then decided to change my guys face because he annoyed me...clutching at straws to find something that will restore my interest in the game I suppose. Maybe I should just give in and play DDDA until I'm sick of it instead. I've been playing ass a Magick Archer for so long now I have no aim in FO4 lol!

I'm getting cautiously hyped for The Technomancer, it looks and sounds like it could be sensational...or a massive fizzer. Time will tell I guess!

Well, you haven't finished DDDA yet, so it can be hard to get into other games. And yeah, Magick Archer is super OP. Its only weakness is that it lacks the Assassin's parrying ability.

First time I heard of Technomancer, thanks for the heads up!

Well, technically I have finished DDDA- but still missed a huge part of what I was looking forward to so I guess I haven't finished finished. I'll admit that it's hard to go through the NG+ knowing I have to if I want to see the post dragon Gransys, but only because I was an idiot in the post dragon Everfall... it is taking some of the fun out of the playthrough I guess. I'm sure it will be more fun when I stop kicking myself over the mix up.. And honestly FO4 hanging over my head is not helping.

I guess FO4 was losing it's lustre for me even before I started DDA- the story doesn't grab me... I think trying to romance Danse was the biggest draw in the end and now that's done the story is a bit ho hum for me so it's hard to jump back in after the time away. Add to that the clunky animations vs DDDA's fluidity and it's a bit underwhelming. I'm not sure if I should wait until after the GECK comes out and the meaty mods emerge or not though- the story won't be any more interesting to me then. Anyway I've found a decent walkthrough to get the neutral ending to FO4 so I reckon I'll push through over Easter and finish it, then maybe I'll enjoy hunting Deathclaws with Danse in the Glowing Sea until someone mods the settlement building into something I can enjoy.

Also, in preparation for the hopeful hype over The Technomancer, I found myself a $2.80 steam code for Mars War Logs on ebay...Technomancer is set in the same world so for that price I'm prepared to give it a go in spite of the mixed reviews... follow up report to come!

Yeah its a love it or hate it story with FO4, Bethesda took a risky route with its story approach compared to its previous games where you "write your own elder scroll" pretty much. FO4 for me is still an alpha project, mods still to come. There's an interesting one so far which has a 3rd person cover mechanic which I'm tracking, but without GECK it's still pretty buggy. Amazing what modders can do without the GECK though.

DDDA's combat does get boring eventually though, but that's probably because I've overkilled it lol

Been playing XCOM 2 mostly though, surprised at the mixed reviews because I love it! I will admit though, the difficulty is much harder than XCOM 1, but people are trying to play on hard difficulties and then complain that its too hard - that's not a fair judgement. I play it on the hardest difficulty and it's a pushover once you know the aliens' weaknesses, though I admit I did mod the timers of the game (its too tight sometimes!)

Everything gets old after a while I guess, even climbing on giant monsters. I just wish I'd seen all the p[ost dragon monsters before finishing the game! There are quite a few different dragons and I really wanted a go at another Cockatrice, I just didn't realise I could leave the Everfall before handing over the wakestones. I'll just have to push through and do Main Quests only I think.

I didn't end up getting around to FO4 over Easter after all- made a bunny suit for Akira instead lol! I will finish it this week though.. I really will!  :D

I played a little Mars War Logs last night...it's interesting. First, it's a 3d game from an indie label and it shows, voice acting not great, animation a little off, but not as bad as you'd expect really. I place it about halfway between FNV and FO4 in terms of animation and graphics. Not bad for a small label with an equally small budget. I'll have to play it a bit longer to have a real opinion of it but so far there's a lot of melee combat, apparently later on I'll get technomancy skills.

I think that next time I see XCom Enemy unknown on sale I'll pull the trigger- I'd like to see if I like that sort of game now.

Yeah watch the gameplay videos first, and make a decision then; if you get the feeling "yeah I want to play it" then yay if not, then it's probably not fun for you.

It can get frustrating in some missions, but in those that's when you have to pull back, abort mission, and get your soldiers out alive, even if it means failing the mission. Alot of people can't accept that loss so they save-scum themselves to frustration lol

I've seen some XCom gameplay vids, which is what has piqued my curiosity. It looks fun but really until I've spent 5hrs or so in a game I won't know if it's a style that will hold my interest. Enemy Unknown comes up for $15 with all the DLC pretty regulalrly in Steam sales so next time I'll do it. Or I might even cruise ebay and see if I can scout a real bargain!

FO4 Survival Mode beta is out- sounds brutal! No Manual or Quick Saves At All. Nope, none. Have to find a bed and sleep for an hour to save! Might make post game prowling the wasteland lots of fun. I couldn't imagine dragging through the story with it though. I think it will be a cool place to be once the settlement mods come out.

Yeah overall I think I still prefer Enemy Unknown - mostly due to the Long War mod though. Once XCOM 2 gets mods like that, it'll be a masterpiece.

I don't know about survival mode on FO4, the thing is, it doesn't have any death alternative.

In XCOM's "Ironman" mode, when you lose a soldier, you soldier on and finish the mission, if you fail the mission, you accept the loss and try to recover, so you accept the consequences of defeat, and the game continues.

In MnB's "realistic saves" mode, when you die, you get captured, lose gold / equipment / even stats but you accept the consequences of defeat, and the game continues.

In FO4's "survival" mode, from what I've read, there's no death alternative. You die, you reload - losing hours of progress.

The other features sound good, but without a death alternative gameplay function, restricting save files is just not a good idea IMO

Until someone mods in a bedroll you can hump around in your pack- sleep anywhere any time lol! Actually... that would be an awesome mod!

Meanwhile, I did the Battle of Bunker Hill (total fizzer if you're neutral- Booo!!) and went and found Father on the roof to have the chat that sides me with the Minutemen...and just as the cutscene ended and I was about to take aim and blow his head off- the bugger teleported out of there! WTF? I'm suprised you guys didn't hear me scream NOOOOO!!!!! over there in the States lol! Quite bitter I am over that.

Yeah that would be one of the early GECK mods once it finally comes out.

Heh I really liked that scene actually, but if you really hate Father, there's worse you can do to him - you'll see once you finish the game.

*Pushes aside cobe webs, clears dust* Cough, cough.

Where is everyone? I've started studying so haven't had much time for much in the way of gaming but this came across my Fb today and I thought I'd share.

I have to say my cautious optimism is starting to weigh heavily in the favour of straight up optimism... hype may not be far behind!

Lost 3 1/2 months of work due to software issues.. I've been depressed lately and haven't had anything positive to add so I've kept myself away.

Thanks, Luna.   dealing with the crappy height mapping system in Unity.   It's so bad that I'm considering switching engines.

P.S.  I've also noticed Unity simply runs horribly on my laptop.. I may have to move to UE4 or Cryengine.

i've found myself playing through inquisition once again... a few badly needed mods, and the... what, 12 patches released, and it's still nowhere near right. my favorite character class, melee rogue is still ridiculously broken *shudders*, i find myself thinking anyone on the dev team who thought this was ok to release needs... a lobotomy and a career change. and for sometime i've known bioware isn't bioware anymore, though the more i play DAI the more i come to realize that fact. so i doubt i'll be buying anymore new bioware titles. and that makes me sad in my special angry place. damn EA! i know they're not the root of all evil, but it sure feels like it, like videogame cancer or something. i know all this has been said, repeatedly... by me, even. but, i just felt like venting a bit, again ... like a vickers machinegun.

@Invisible man  well, most of Bioware did leave EA.  I noticed a lot of folks jumped ship from Blizzard as well.  I guess that is where we got the amazing Banner Saga from.   Now that I've had a chance to be on the developing side of things.. It's a lot of work and frustrating when you lose progress.  I can't even imagine the amount of duress Bioware team was under. That engine DICE uses is probably more complex than it needs to be.

i do get that, and i've even said as much... in pieces within several different threads (IIRC), but that doesn't change the fact that they should have expected as much from their loyal long-term fan base, releasing the game in that sad state. and honestly i think using the new engine at all at that point was also a major mistake. if the dev team had time to familiarize itself with the new engine before building a game out of it, the production time would have been vastly reduced, and the end product would have been of higher quality (speaking of which, where was quality control?), though i will admit that i am not a part of the video game industry (unless buying them makes me so), so i might be completely barking up the wrong tree, who knows...

I'm appalled at myself for the growing excitement I'm feeling for ME:A ...appalled I tell you, appalled!

But it's true... I find myself scouring youtube, checking out the forum here...After the horror of DA:I I can promise I won't pre-order, but as for my promise to never buy another Booware game for full price... well I can only hope I have enough grit to wait until it's been out a week and I've checked out some let's plays before I succumb to its evil siren song.

And yes, the shame burns hot within me right now.

I fired up Divinity Original Sin Enhanced edition again after not touching gaming for a while.  Waiting impatiently for the sequel late this year.

I haven't finished the original trilogy yet, figured I'd finish that first... though I'm still on the first divinity game. I keep getting insta-killed by those damn walking mines.

Never played any DOS games but I've loaded State of Decay YOSE onto my study laptop, makes for a fun way to break up the study...I'm rather bad at WASD driving apparently, especially on a laptop k/b lol!

Still haven't finished FO4...

Driving in State of Decay is kinda awkward with k/b or even controller.  :)
