@Lunafancy  Glad you're feeling better and back on here.   I had a wasted day trying to breathe properly all day.  I'm officially out of my prescription inhaler and I don't have $250 to refill it. I'm using a homeopathic spray I got as a backup.  It sucks not having medical insurance.  Anyhow, sorry to rant .. just having a bad week.

Sign of a good game is when you want to rage quit in the middle.  Darkest Dungeon.

Fallout Shelter is pretty cool for what it is but if you want to play it on PC.. You can either wait til Bethesda releases it next month or simply use bluestacks on PC to emulate android apps. It runs very well, and it gives you a lot of other interesting mobile stuff to play with.  http://www.bluestacks.com/

Sorry to hear about your health issues Pergrinus, I hope you feel better (and richer!) soon. ((hugs))

Here's some red panda cuteness to cheer you up!

Red-Panda4.jpg

Is Fallout Shelter the mini game they released leading up to FO4?

Counting down the days to Technomancer!

Also Steam Summer sale!

@Lunafancy Thanks for your warm thoughts. :)   Yep, the mini free game that 50 million people downloaded.   lol

Blue stacks software works really well on my laptop so it'll run very smoothly for everyone else.

this is actually better.   http://www.andyroid.net/

Just a heads up on these.  They are both ad-driven and that's why they are free.

sheesh, it was really easy to circumvent the ads.

Hey guys and gals

Long time no see. Sorry again.

Do you know of anybody within the Group or your extended group of friends and family who would be competent and motivated for doing a voice-over work on an indie trailer?

A friend of mine is looking for talent.

Two options are being considered : (i) female native English/Austarlian/American speaker, husky voice and (ii) accented, gravelly male voice à la The Witcher

Many thanks in advance,

Hugs and kisses

it's a few days to my surgery (something like 4 or so iirc), and i can't seem to pull myself away from 10 year-old pirate games. i guess i just have a thing for sailing... and cannons, definitely cannons.

i think some devteam out there needs to make a sandboxy pirate rpg, like age of pirates (but actually finished and well polished), or bethesda's 2002ish pirates of the Caribbean (ie the one not related to the movies of the same name), add in a TES like character creator (with lady pirates of course), high customization of ships, gear, clothing and an ai that doesn't crash your escorting frigates into rocks constantly when departing port (age of pirates i'm looking at you *eyes glaring at age of pirates*). though; on second thought... i doubt any publisher would invest the appropriate amount of time and resources... or even the vision to pull such a title off. so forget i said any thing.

Good luck with the surgery Invisible Man!

Talk about drama central- I've had the week from gamer hell, Gamer Hell I tell you!

Firstly, I upgraded two surface pros, two laptops and my gaming PC to windows 10 and out of ALL of them it was the gaming PC that devloped this revolting mystery speaker buzz issue that has NO fix. None I tell you. How do I know? I tried them ALL over the course of a week. So O decided to roll back to windows 7...yeah BIG mistake. Damned thing wouldn't restart and since I foolishly had not set up a partition for the operating system, I couldn't to a clean install without losing everything.

Thankfully one of my Elite Dangerous buddies lives close by and is incredibly generous -and has been itching to reinstall windows on this machine forever. So I strap the PC lovingly into the car and carted it off to his place whereupon he installed a new HDD (with OS partition) and got me started on moving everything over. Awesome guy.

BUT... we had a lot of wind on Friday night and a tree had been blown onto the phoneline and since my net is DSL... yeah no net. It's still down but I made the phone company spot me a 10GB 3G wifi thingy (we call them dongles here) and since I am in a spotty 3G coverage area it's fun.

It was enough data to download Technomancer last night though! Woo Hoo! So far it's fun, I've seen some reviews but I dunno, it's actually better than I expected combat wise and certainly no worse than FO4 graphics and animation wise so I'm not sure what the whining is about. Sure it isn't AAA- but I don't recall anyone promising that anyway.

I really like it so far anyway and I'm hoping that I can kill this damned first boss and get to meet some of the companions. It's an early call at this point but I think a diamond in the rough is going to be my conclusion. Their next game might be the one that puts them on the map but I think this is a step in the right direction for Spiders.

@Lunafancy

that sounds unpleasant (for the understatement of the year award), that actually sounds almost as painful as my surgery... which is actually tomorrow am (check in is at 5 :o ), i thought it was two days from now checking in at 7, but i suck with dates & times. so i'm going to be hospitalized for at least a week, probably wont be walking around for a while after that.

---edit
oh, and to top it off... my cat buddha was mauled by a dog about 2 weeks ago, he's healed up well enough, but now he has a bladder infection or something, so he's not doing too well... i'm more worried bout' him then i am the surgery.

Oh No! Invisible Man! Poor Buddah, I hope he feels better soon. When my kitty Isolde had pancreatitis earlier this year I did some research into diet and discovered that cas who eat raw food have a much reduced relapse rate for pancreatits. So I switched my guys to raw meat as well as a grain free kibble and they have never looked so healthy. Maybe that's worth a shot for Buddah?

I've also had animal woes this las week- my appaloosa Luna has had two run ins with a fence (neighbours horses picking fights with him) requiring vet visits on Wednesday and Friday last week. He took a big chunk of flesh out of one lefe (vet said it was as close as you could get to bare bone without actually exposing bone- looked like exposed bone to me when I called them up though. Good job it wasn't exposed bone for all of us!) Then on Friday he tried slicing his hoof off- once again almost bad enough to be really bad, but not quite. Luna is a bit of a master of the 'just this side of devastating' injuries... which is a good thing for him but horrendous for my bank balance since he is constantly draining it lol! But I'd be devastated if he went the other side of devastating so I guess I can't complain too much.

Anyway I shall be sending positive thoughts and energy to both you and Buddah, Invisible Man, hoping that you both feel good very soon!

Oh and I thought this guy did a nice review of The Technomancer, he's made me really excited to get into the story!

ETA:

Well I played for a few hours last night and I guess I've put maybe 4ish hours in now- still only level 6 and I am LOVING it. Like, seriously loving the game. I've already made choices I think are going to bite me on the arse later- and am already contemplating a second play through so I can see what happens if I make different choices at those points. The combat is HARD. Like early DDDA hard- enemies are OP and I am dying over and over, yet learning more and more about the mechanics each time. I love that you can switch between the combat styles mid fight. So far I like warrior (thye staff) and unsurprisingly for me, rogue- mainly because the gun is auto aimed lol!

The skill trees are deep, really deep and you have to think hard early on so you can maximise their effect. I am seriously gettinga DAO feel off the game so far, minus the brilliance of the dialogue of course because, well there will only ever be one DAO in that repect I think (well okay DAII was good for that too but let's not go there). Even Bioware isn't doing Biowaresque writing like that anymore.

So yeah the writing is a little...well let's just say I think they need a native english speaker to run over their scripts before they hand them over to the actors, but it isn't that bad really. And I mean - ME was kind of hinky in that regard anyway ... I just hope Zachariah doesn't dance lol!

So overall, it's pretty awesome and if the choices thing pans out the way it's promised I think it will be a solidly awesome game. Hopefully Spiders gets a funding boost and enough time to make a real impact next time around because they really could step into the fading footprints of the Bioware of old if they keep progressing the way they have been.

Here's a link to a review I think is pretty accurate from what I've seen so far.

ETA again lol! Here's a really, really good review of Technomancer, doesn't gloss over the flaws but I think you guys will relate to the reviewers take on the RPG factor and he explains the depth of the skill tree well.

Looks good. The reviews I read before this one had all been very disparaging.

I'm starting to suspect that US reviewers have a negative bias towards European companies and Euro-style RPGs.

I'll try it out then.

thanks, Luna!

Ashen, I'm loving it- lost track of time last night and was late giving hay to the horses then missed my pumpkin time and was VERY late to bed kind of loving it.

I'm not saying it's perfect, and I have NO idea how it will play with kb/m (I'm on controller and it's fine but there is a bit of a tendency to keep going a coulple of steps after you stop hitting the buttons, just as in the review) but it is really interesting and the combat is fun and for the life of me I don't understand the negative reviews. Unless of course the review sites are missing the $$$ that we all know change hands for reviews of the bigger games...

The dialogue is a little hinky- but seriously I think it's because they have used a translator rather than a native english speaker- the grammar is too correct for spoken english and that is pretty much what makes it seem off. Other than that it's no worse than most games- I mean segues into quests are a bit jarring, but aren't they always? Anyway, I find the dialogue much less cringey than TW 3 (which I stopped playing because of the dialogue cringeyness among other things) so again, NFI where the hate is coming from except the $$$ or an effort to keep a small but promising developer down.

The map is a bleeding labyrinth lol! But there are two map options and if a directionally challenged muppet like me can make them work I doubt anyone else will have problems. I've hit level 9 now so I'm not dying quite so often but a lot of that is because I've worked out how to use traps in mob fights- highly fun. I've still got the starter pack companions at the moment but I'm doing Lucky's companion quest at the moment so it will be interesting to see the fleshed out character dialogue. One of the starter pack dudes did launch into a diatribe about hating Technomancers when I prompted him though which was ...mean lol! :D I might dump him first!

The skill tree is fun and the crafting system is pretty cool too. Overall I would say it's very much a distopian sci fi DAO, and the combat is kind of like that too, which is probably why I like it so much. It's not as good as DAO, (because nothing is, right?) but it is very much in that vein.

I'm very happy with the $42 Au I paid for the game, I like it better than FO4 to be honest.

@Lunafancy " I have NO idea how it will play with kb/m (I'm on controller and it's fine but there is a bit of a tendency to keep going a couple of steps after you stop hitting the buttons."  If you remember from Mars War Logs, the same thing there.

Not sure why you find TW3 dialogue to be so cringyworthy. I could say the same for Mars War Logs or even DAI, for that matter.

I guess I didn't pay too much attention to the dialogue since the gameplay is what really shined with both titles.  But then again, I was fairly lenient towards Skyrim and Fallout series.. Some cringe stuff there too.

The gameplay I've seen so far of Technomancer seems really cool!  I really do like the title.  It's definitely much cooler then Mars War Logs.  I'm really liking the Spider developers.

Lol! Peregrinus- I vividly remember the moment (not the line word for word, but this was them cringe that could not be uncringed for me) that I said No, just No to TW3's writing and it was that idiotic moment where the older witcher and Geralt went all nostalgic over whatshernames Gooseberry and *something else I've thankfully forgotten* perfume. I was just like... Really? And turned it off haha!

Lord knows I've cringed my way through most games on some level or another but the whole 'search for his lost love B.S. premise was even more offputting than FO4's stupid baby hunt for me. But most of TW3 dialogue up to that point was annoying to me, just like the first two games, though nothing compares for the horror of the first one lol! There was a lot of stuff about TW3 that put me off, I know I'm in the teeny tiny minority in this and I'm okay with that, but I hated it. I can't pretend otherwise. :D

Loads of games have cringeworthy bits, but they don't always put me off, if the rest of the game is good I wouldn't notice it. DDDA has to have the most cringey dialogue and voice acting of all time but because it's also got the best gameplay (just in my opinion of course) of all time as well I don't even notice it.

And I'm not noticing it in Technomancer really- it's certainly 5x better than the MWL dialogue and voice acting anyway -  and the rest of the game is so engaging I'm just not finding it bad at all. But it's there and it does need to be acknowledged when I'm recommending the game to others.

I used the controller on MWL too, so I don't know how that played kb/m either, but I don't mind the controls now I'm used to those extra steps. I've put in another three hours (stolen real life hours at that!) and it's great. Wonky in places, yep, but I'm 100% in it for the long haul and am really intrigued by the story. I'm not really one for replaying games but this time I think I'd like to do a run through when I turn to what I think could be the dark side, as well as one where I am a saint- just to see. So far I'm playing my usual chaotic good route and it's fun but I think things could get very dark in this world if you go down that path and I reckon i'd like to see that.

Also, that skill tree just keeps getting deeper as you go... it's really great!

I hear it is on sale at GMG right now 30%is off or something?

Okay, I'm probably going to be offline until the 'net gets fixed since I'm already into 'excess data' territory on the pre paid thingy and will have to pay more (totally worth burning through most of it to download the game though, totally worth it) but I HAVE to tell you guys this- as great as the game has been... it gets So Much More Awesome when you leave Ophir (the city you start in). I don't want to spoil anything but the game really hits its stride at this point and just gets scary and complicated and morally confusing.

I mean my jaw dropped last night and I stayed up until 12.30 am, it was that good. This has got to be the most underrated game ever... the creatures are amazing- vampiric flying sand mantas ffs. How is that not ALL the awesome, right there? Weird shelly backed bird things with a face full of tentacles, and actual tentacles lol! And a mission to go out and hunt for beasties is going to ensure I see them all...

I'm into the fleshed out companion zone and OMG there is real depth to them and fascinating stories and links back to you as well.

And while the moral dilemmas presented aren't quite in the same ball park as Spec Ops The Line- they aren't far off. I've already things that sit ill with me because I was following orders, and it looks like I'm going to have to do some seriously effed up things to keep myself and my teammates safe... this game has a really dark underbelly and I think it's going to get a bit disturbing along the way.

It's brilliant, despite all its flaws. Just brilliant. Definitely filling the deep RPG hole in my heart that DAO has left and DA:I and FO4 just couldn't cover.

I officially love it so far.

Hi everyone. I'm just checking in from my hospital room. Basically the operation happened June 30 8am or so... lasting 6 hours, about twice as long as was thought to take, the recovery time was longer too... I'm just now starting my clear liquid diet. I'm still go get to be sticking around here for at least a few days.

Get well soon Invisible Man!

So I have proper internet a day ahead of schedule! Stock up on your preps guys, clearly the end is nigh lol! :D

Still absolutely loving the Technomancer to bits. The story is fascinating as it unfolds and you know all those annoying side/fetch quest things we all whinge about? They're actually interesting and enjoyable in this game. *waits for everyone to get back to their feet* I know, right? I haven't had to run and retrieve a ring or pick 50 flowers yet, believe it or not lol!

I'm pretty impressed with what Spiders has achieved on a small budget and for the life of me don't understand the harsh reviews its getting. Sure if it were meant to be an AAA game I'd slam it too, but it's a A or B game and all things considered it's brilliant for what it is. I only wish the AAA studios managed to pull off same things this one does with all their $$$$ - then we'd truly have the AAA RPG we long for! Until then I'll happily take the inevitable compromises that come with a small budget to get the experience Spiders is giving me with the Technomancer. I'm actually going to check out Bound By Flame when I finish this I think.

Oh and Peregrinus, I loved Spec Ops The Line too. Except for the white phosphorous bit, that still haunts me...

Peregrinus, that's what I loved about the game too- it still messed with my head though. :)

I'm still loving Technomancer - I've decided the thing I love the most is the way all the sidequests feed into the main quest- you're working through the politics of Mars on so many levels. it's like reading a really good sci fi thriller, you just want to find out. Not even DAO had that going on. I don't understand the bad reviews, I really don't. It's great!

And to move to an entirely unrelated topic- back in May I ordered a custom knitted fisherman's sweater for Akira from a lady in the US on Etsy (yes, I really did lol!) and she posted it out on the 23rd of May...and it only JUST arrived yesterday! I'd all but given up lol!

Totally worth the wait (and even the $$$- could have had a new AAA game for the price lol!)

it's me again... i've been home about 5 days recouping, strangely enough i haven't really been in pain. according to just about everyone (doctors/nurses/etc.) i should have been in pretty extreme pain and on heavy-duty pain meds from the day i was released (like i said earlier at least a month recovery time required). all i've had to deal with were minor aches. i just hope that's not a sign of something else going wrong... something worse.

Hey guys, been hooked on Warhammer Total War recently, a ton of fun!
