I can second that game. I own it and the expansion Dragonfall.

I wonder how similar it is to NWN + NWN 2 Toolsets. I made a few modules back in the day. I'll go have a look at it when I'm more awake. Got awoken by the kids(CATS) wanting their morning meals.
Like Jackal, I found the NWN (original--I never modded 2) toolset really easy to use. Made a few campaigns back in the day.
I have made some... morphs... with the DA:O toolset. I can use it, a wee bit. I'd rather not. It handles like a bull turning on breaking ice. I have nothing but admiration for people who have the time and patience to deal with its idiosyncrasies. And that's coming from someone who has fully kitted out her Sims 2 game.
ok, need some quick community help here. I just started playing Mass Effect 1 and need some help with the keybinding. I am trying to put movement on the mouse but somehow go it stuck on moving and shooting. I can't seem to get back to "none" as an option for secondary bindings. Does anyone have any good setups they would care to share? Also, is there a way to move without aiming a weapon all the time? and is there a way to solve the problem of alternate keybinds screwing up the menus?
Thanks in advance!
Yes there is a weapon holster toggle, should be a keybind in there I used it all the time. I've never tried to put movement on the mouse as it's a shooter however.
Hey. I'm Michael, from the Netherlands.
I've worked a couple different jobs past years (mostly because my health is so-so
).
Personally I started playing Bioware games with Neverwinter Nights 1 (or was KOTOR 1 first?). I always liked the games for their storytelling, humor and easy to use controls combined with setting the AI logic a bit / good customization options (it always had one of those two at least).
Dragon Age Origins is and was IMHO one of the best RPGs around, even if you factor in the slow combat. It has gone downhill since though
Mass Effect 2 was decent although it suffered a bit from overstreamlining, Mass Effect 3 was excellent till the point peer review got left out 'due to time limits' (the ending).
My other favorite developers are Obsidian (despite the bugs - I've slackerbacked Pillars of Eternity), Stardock and CD Projekt Red. Too bad a couple of my favorite devs got crashed into oblivion by bigger distributors or by Peter Molyneux... and some others have become totally weirdos (some indies).
Personally I'm currently developing an world setting (lore, map, etc) for something which I originally meant for a book I was planning to write. To do it right though, is a lot of work. I'm rewritten it a lot of times already *sighs* Sometimes minor, but often major changes. I've got a set story for the book too (that idea hasn't changed that much yet), but first getting the setting right....
Hehe, does anyone believe that we'll get a HOTfix for the shield bug on monday? I'm pretty sure if they insist on calling it like that I wont be able to not mock them for it. ![]()

'Tis already Monday here, so I won't hold my breath.
I will, however, beat you up and down with limp spaghetti for making Duran Duran's "New Moon on Monday" pop into my head and refuse to leave....

Everytime someone writes "'tis..." I read the following in Morrigans voice lol.
Anyway...Bioware is probably located in the "Central Time" zone, so it's around 5pm on Sunday there. They still have a bit time left for a monday patch I'd say.
And if they don't want their hotfix to be a frozenfix they better get their stuff together asap.
And...I did what now? A song, just by mentioning monday?
But there are so many more, like...
You're welcome. ![]()

I have it on steam. I might be able to game share with you . I haven't been on steam in a couple months.

That sounds about right. I remember compiling my scripts/modules and it would take over an hour to do it, and sometimes it would crash at 90% or simply lock up. Is DA:O toolset similar to NWN's in usage?
Game sharing on Steam is a bit rediculous. In essence: You need to give your account details (Username, Password) to the other person and disable Steam Guard for a short while, then each login into the account of the other one once. Then you can both enable Steam sharing for each other.
A bit late I realized that with Steam Guard off, and if it's just five seconds, Valve disables your right to trade and gift for two weeks so you get "in good standing" again. -.-

That sucks but it sounds like they tried harder then Microsoft in making it work. ![]()
Well, it is complicated but I guess it's secure. Of course the way it is set up it is obvious that you should do this with close friends and family only. People you know and trust. I think that's a reasonable approach to something called "family sharing". ![]()
I think majority of our writing is moved over to http://forum.bioware...writers-corner/
Lot of amazing writing for the group to enjoy!

^ this. It helps to keep the intro channel clear ![]()
We probably need another intro channel considering this one has gotten to 42 pages and most of it's "commentary".
Although I find this "unlikely", it's definitely an interesting article.
Clicky, Clicky.
Interesting article but it just feels like Microsoft is once again giving the PC community lip service again. Their idea of streaming Xbox One games on PC seems really backwards to me. I guess the good thing to come of this is that Windows 10 will get DirectX 12 released which apparently will allow video cards to perform better. Just like what AMD has done with mantle. Everything else they have announced sounds like they are going to attempt to compete with Steam again.
As for gaming centered back on PC, I don't think PC gaming has ever been on the sidelines at all. It simply has evolved into something different. If you look at the console market, it's at a point where everything simply costs too much money Casual PC gamers alone dominate the console gamers and if you add mobile gamers who usually end up being the same casual PC gamers.. The numbers simply do not add up for console gamers.
Days of keyboard/mouse gaming is very much alive regardless of what Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo think. Having said that, Using a gamepad should be an option, not the first choice.
Law and economics? Sounds like fun.
I'm about to dive into State Education legislation so I can write some units for a university course. Yay!
No. Not yay. Thank gods one of my clients has just finished a draft. Her stuff is so much more fun to go research.
ETA: Yeah, Jackal, I hear you. This year's been unseasonably bad, too. Down south I used to happily go and, say, take the horses out at 40 deg C (which sounds cruel, now that I think about it, but I used to take them swimming a lot), because, at least it was a dry heat. Anything above about 32 up here saps everything.
I mean, seriously. Went to the movies with my mum and 3 of my sons today (Hobbit 3, finally) and coming out of the aircon felt like being slapped in the face with a hot, wet herring.
Because of learning the aforementioned legislation (it's all new to me and mah poor brain processes a lot in dreams) I, of course, dreamed about it, all last night (at least, that's how it felt). Because of all these DA:I shenaningans, I had Alistair and Cullen (along with a char from my RL project) all trying to tell me how it worked. There was a blackboard and everything. I woke up and thought, "bloody hells, the least they could have done is take their framming shirts off" (seriously, what a waste. Thanks, brain. Not). Told my mum this today. Her response: "it's too hot to even want to dream about a threesome, is what it is. Also, your brain is bizarre."
I can't say she's wrong.
ETA2: I just opened up the file, and thanks for the offer, but... sheesh. It's boring, essentially. I mean, it starts with a bunch of spoilers in "Queen Cousland writes her history of the Fifth Blight" style [this was actually an exercise in trying to infodump for people I knew who didn't know the world--I did a fairly popular FFVII Reno fic back in the day that I had people who weren't familiar with the environment love, apart from the fact they felt lost in a setting they had no idea of] that essentially tell you how the story ends [She's Queen, so you know some of the game choices made], and then I go back and start when my Warden is... um... 8--the day Roland Gilmore arrives at Castle Cousland. Mostly self-referential for RP reasons, I guess. Then I switch to Alistair's VP (when he finds out he's going to the Chantry). And... Aedan Hawke's, at Lothering, the day he and his family move there. Although, interestingly, never Anders'... I wonder why... meh. If I was going to update, I'd need to add my Trevelyan girl at Ostwick, and probably Cullen. I'd also have to play that import for DA:I (and I was hoping for a KB&M fix before I do that one). And I do some alternates for in-game story, then fill in the 10 years after the Blight before I thought, nope, stopping that now. Bleurgh. Too much like hard work for Being Very Bored readers.
Although it does stand as evidence that I picked who Flemeth really was all the way back in 2011, so that's nice.
I like your brain and your mum's style, Bethgael
Thanks Peregrinus but I'd rather you sell the game by talking about the gameplay lol
It's only $40 AUD on GOG for both it and the expansion so I'm hoping for your impressions first before I buy. The tactical RPG combat is really tempting me already. How does the RPG elements compare to say, Divinity (High bar I know), or TBS elements compare to Xcom (Another high bar I know)?
I like to go in with realistic expectations.

It's very old school. It is a turn based tactical RPG, and it's not just telling you that to sell you the game. The story is interesting but you'll be doing a lot of reading. If you are somewhat familiar with Shadowrun , you'll be amused it by it more. It'll be good if you know the ruleset of Shadowrun since your characters use it. I found it to be more tactical as in you placing your party properly to win battles. I don't think the RPG portion is strong as Divinity but I can't seem to name anything that does. I hope that helps.
I'm not familiar with the universe, however I enjoy exploring a new story and world / new mechanics. Hows the story length? I read reviews in regards to its linearity - though I've also heard of its moddability.

Shadowrun returns is about 15-20 hours but has tons of mods available. I haven't started the Dragonfall campaign yet but apparently is longer.
