You should have no troubles with TW2 at least, it was meant to run on modern hardware. TW1 not sure, been a while since I actually played it, but I know of no specific issues with modern hardware so I'd wager it'll run just fine. ^^

I tried that and kinda liked it, but it went boring pretty fast. I soon realized that I can have all this running around and doing sidequests in Skyrim, but better because of MODS!!! :D

You have to admit the combat in KOA was damn good.

True. Wasn't enough for me though. The quests where all "go there", "grab this", the level design wasn't very pretty and the graphics already outdated.

Admitedly, DAI is currently the same with its non-story-maps. But at least these are pretty and it is fun exploring them.

I actually didn't do a lot of side quests in KOA and I thought the main storyline was quite good.  I definitely had a better experience technically in KOA versus DAI.

Happy birthday:-)
If you wait for a present from Bioware you will be 90 before you get one :-)
They will never get this game to work properly in our lifetimes
Just got frustrated and bored to death and I give up :-)
I have patch 1.0.0.5 it is called uninstall this DRM filled crap software.
Was nice that Amazon said sure we will take it back :-)
I was talking to a friend who has it on a GTX980 and he is running it on medium and FX look like crap.
He is returning it also because he got it from Amazon also.

@Matrix  Well, GODzilla does have a valid point. The Witcher series will keep you occupied for quite some time.  I've spent probably 50+ hours on Witcher 1 and over 70+ on Witcher 2. They are without filler unless you count some of the mini games they in it which involve dice gambling, and fist fighting.

Kingdoms of Amalur the Reckoning is also very good. It also has three DLCs for that too.

Oh, almost forgot my previous recommendation.  Stalker Call of Pripyat.  Lots of graphical and difficulty mods on moddb.com for it.  I recommend Stalker Call of Pripyat Complete for initial playthrough.

p.s. You should be able to easily max out settings in Witcher 1 even with mods, Witcher 2 maxed out except Ubersampling.

SGM2.2 for the masochists among us ...

My sons preordered the DAI game for me months before it was released. that was very thoughtful of them. They are in college so buying Mom a game is very nice. That being said As it was pre ordered and was a box cd  I can not return the game to gamestop.  I did ask the boys to just buy be gift cards instead of a game from now on. I hate preordering.  I still play my favorite MMO called Fallen Earth, but I am trying Repopulation in Early Access and so far it is very fun.  I also enjoy Pandemic/Plague Inc.  Between March and October I seldom have time to game as its busy season where I work.  So any games that come out, I will wait usually until October to get and just game over the winter months.

I like more challenging, but to HAVE to eat and sleep in game is more challenge than I want.

Anyone has a review on
Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor made by WB
But I will start with TW1 and TW2 :-)

Shadow of Mordor was personally my GOTY 2014. It has its weaknesses and I'd suggest to carefully avoid them by following some rules.

1.) Disable all indicators (counter indicator, stealth indicator, everything off)

You'll need to learn to fight the orks, trusting your vision and experience. No counter-indicator will show you when to block, you will have to watch them.

2.) Never flee from a fight

Not only to raise the challenge - and it will be challenging, fighting 25 orks who surrounded you - but also to make you die from time to time. The nemesis system works best when time goes by. The next one will help with that, too.

3.) If you discover a watchtower and / or when you quicktravel using a tower, forward time

This also helps to let the nemesis system play out over time. The game is easily exploitable if you for instance, just kill all the bosses in one go. Instead, let them fight among themselves, grow interesting traits, make it more interesting.

4.) Don't spam the mass killer abilities

Yes, you get them. By the end of the game you will be maxed out no matter what. And yes by spamming these abilities all fights become cheap, even without counter indicators and whatnot. If you wanna make it interesting and diverse, don't spam the stuff.

I wouldn't say "hold yourself back", that is something that would break immersion, but there are some things one should do that make sense in the lore and just raise the challenge without playing cheaply or let the enemies win.

The core-point is to give the nemesis system room to breath. And if it does, things will work on their own. Interesting enemies will beginn to appear. You will probably get a nemesis who slips from your grasp, survives your supposed killing blows time and again, you will hunt him, yell at him...ah it was such a great game for me. :D

But it's really about choice of playstyle here. Yes, after a while you will certainly know how to exploit some game mechanics so good that the game becomes a cakewalk, repetitive, boring. But if you dcide not to do that you're in for a ride. :)

BTW: Best part about the game are the fighting animations. It's the system from the Batman games, but with swords, super-brutal and a joy to play and watch. Just writing about now makes me wanna install it again lol. :D

How is the community in Fallen Earth? I was gonna give it a try when I first saw it a while back but I was hesitant. I really didn't think it would last but hoped it would since it looks like a post apocalyptic  Fallout type game.  I may very well join you once I live where I have stable internet.  :)

I noticed you pushing Darkest Dungeon a lot.   :)  You think it's going to be that good?  I've seen some clips and I'm not sure what to think.. A turn based tactical dungeon crawl?

@GODzilla  Would you consider Shadow of Mordor an action rpg?

I think it's really going to be a matter of taste, and how well it works of course.

I'm a fan of Lovecraft and Mignola ... this looks like a good combination of them so far.

I'm just very hopeful at this point, but we'll know for sure soon enough.

edit:

After the disappointment that DA: turned out to be I try to keep abreast of what's coming from the indies.

Everybody know about Torment: Tides of Numenara, Pillars of Eternity, Star Citizen, et al. ... but there are some games that just slip by.

I didn't know anything about The Vanishing of Ethan Carter until I stumbled across mention of it Saturday.

Now it's on my Steam wishlist.

I don't want any of my friends who might like DD to miss it because I was too complacent to tell them.

I appreciate the links all of you post and try to follow to stay informed but if I'm being to much the fanboy I'll stop.

Hey Friends, I'm sorry I didn't post on the Group threads these last few days but:

- one of my aunts got another Big C announced on Sunday (thank you Chernobyl incident btw, it's a disaster in the south of France);

- my big deal hasn't closed yet;

- and I take this Group too seriously to post serious things while being seriously saddened, overworked and stressed.

On the other hand, pestering blind-sided 'Biowarites' and EAware and trying to be funny on serious threads amuse and relax me. :)

So, keep up the good work.  I'll be back soon.
