I'm going to be building (or have one built rather) a 2nd custom gaming pc in a few months, when i'll actually have a bit of disposable income to splurge with, them mom gets this one. i'm just fed up with ati/amd at the moment, really, really fed up.

I'll share my experience with the frankenstein AMD Kaveri build on here. The parts should be arriving tomorrow.

I've been extremely curious on this particular desktop APU , and it's ability to perform in games. All the youtube and other news sources indicate that Kaveri can indeed run modern games at good settings in 1366x768 resolution. This will work out well for me since my plan is to either use HDMI to output on my 37 LCD TV, or my AOC 15 USB LCD screen. Both with 720p native resolution.

Build details:  Updated from last post to Cyan.

AMD® A10 7600K FM2+ 3.1 ghz (3.8 Turbo) 4-core processor (very likely will overclock this additional 7% or so)

Discrete class AMD Radeon R7-250 (384 GPU cores, 720 GPU clock)

4 x USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit LAN port, 7.1 HD Audio,
2x memory slots  Hybrid Crossfire

External USB Wifi adapter (already have)
Kingston HyperX Savage 4GB DDR3 2133 MHz XMP Memory
250 gigabyte Western Digital® Black 32MB Cache 7200 RPM Hard Drive (already had)

24X DVD /CD writer External (already have)
Logitech® LED lit Soft Touch USB Keyboard & Perixx Gaming Optical Mouse (already had)

Windows 7 64 bit

Raidmax Smilodon Gaming Mid Tower case (already had)

EVGA 430W 80 Plus  certified PSU

I also made some budget build configurations.

Intel budget build: http://pcpartpicker....ge/saved/N8XFf7

AMD budget build: http://pcpartpicker....ge/saved/F7Zrxr

HTPC budget build: http://pcpartpicker....ge/saved/Vt4G3C

Witcher 3  build: http://pcpartpicker....ge/saved/yv3j4D

Kaveri memory scaling at 1366x768 resolution

                                                    2133      1866        1600         1333

BioShock Infinite, Medium    47.3fps  44.4fps  40.1fps  36.4fps

Hello boys and girls :-)
Guess what came in today ?
A nice GTX980 :-)
It is now sitting in my machine, and I must say, this is an amazing card :-)
Whenever I decide to reinstall DAI will let you know how it runs :-)
Right now DA2 with the texture pack and DX11 everything cranked up with Vsynch on a solid 60FPS :-)
Quite happy with this card :-)

Nice! I imagine it's rather quiet too?   I just got the processor, memory and psu in the mail. Still waiting on board.

Yes when the load is real small, as in idling , or just not moving in a game the fans shut themselves off :-)
Well designed card, and of course I got the Asus version :-)
So quite happy with it :-)
Next step get another one and SLI both cards :-)

Nice, your card is probably only kicking on the fans when the temps hit around 61c. I heard it did that.

Yep that is about right :-)
It also had 2 led one for fan on the other for fan off :-)
But that is nice if you have a case with side windows :-)
But the software that comes with it is real cool, and of course the card also has a turbo boost when it needs more horse power :-)

Yep she kicks ass :-)
Took me 15 minute to install :-)
Now running the latest driver 347.25, and it seems to be a solid driver :-)
And this card has a feature as if you play an older game it will clock down to adjust to it :-)
While maintaining a solid 60FPS if you have Vsync enabled :-)
All in all I am happy :-)
But I am looking forward for you to put your new rig together:-)
It should be fun :-)

Indeed. :)  It should be interesting to see what it can do especially since my native resolution is set at 1366x768.  I'm hearing it can do all medium settings on Battlefield 4 which is using Frostbite 3 at over 30 fps with mantle turned on at 1080p which is pretty much a new feat for something that is considered integrated graphics.  I'm very curious to see where AMD takes this Kaveri chip to next.  Right now, it's got 4 cpu cores, and 6 gpu cores.. I'm wondering if their plan is to take it to 8 cpu cores and 8 gpu cores next.

On a side note, I looked at some results of adding a Radeon R7 240 2 gig dedicated card to enable hybrid crossfire and it looks pretty damn decent. Overall improvement of around 40% in fps with crossfire. With mantle, that increases by additional 7%.  Not bad at all considering that card is listed at 60 bucks right now.  lol

Of course AMD will try to keep up with Intel and Nvidia as always :-)
But Intel has the Hexacore already, I thought that AMD also had an Hexacore already :-)
But that tech is quite pricey:-)

They do but not in the APU category.  The FX series has had Hexacore for quite sometime now.  I'm guessing that it will happen once they can reduce the size of the die more.

Well I am sure that miniaturization is soon on the way :-)
CPU and GPU sizes have been coming down in size for a long time :-)
But they have to make sure the onboard GPU can be disabled, in case people want to install a full size GPU :-)

Well when I bought my 970 the first thing that happened was my PC pretty much blew up... I didn't have MG so I had to carry my PC to the tech guys to get me a new case and power supply... wasn't fun.

Hybrid crossfire never works well, it can be done but not sure with an APU :-)

They always recommend if you have let's say a GTX 970, you have to SLI with another GTX970 :-)

It does not have to be the same maker as in GTX from Asus will SLI with a GTX from MSI, but they have to be the same series of card :-)

Hybrid crossfire is basically using one card to take a specific part of the load, it is not true crossfire or SLI :-)

And lots of the time you run into real weird FX in games :-)

Actually Hybrid crossfire is only done with APU and a video card that is compatible.  :)  It'll be interesting to see if I end up doing that.

The card had more power than the PC combined lol. Like sticking a V8 into a VW Beetle.

Well every little bit count when it comes to gaming :-)

But when it comes to DAI, lots of people who are using SLI or Xfire are having a real hard time getting this made for console game working well :-)

Weird Battle Field 4 is made with the same engine as DAI and they have it working well :-)

I guess the 2 dev left working on the PC side of DAI are probably too tired to fix that game :-)

They must go home at night and see codes in their nightmares :-)

You were unlucky because 99% of the time the PSU will beep and scramble before something bad happens :-)

Yea I had a 550 or 600 W psu. When the 970 went in it was fine for awhile, then slooooooowly started taking more and more power until everything load up DAI.... PC restart :)

d/l benchmark tool, start benchmark.... PC restart :)

But yeah in the end my PC got a well needed upgrade, just no DAI to play with because it's bad xD

Well they claim a big patch is coming end of February:-)

Might be worth playing it then :-)

But I myself will play many more games before I reload it, since I find it so boring :-)

But they are more concerned about the MP right now, that is where the micro transactions are made and they will milk this puppy until they can suckle no more :-)
