@Peregrinus

Well will be putting another 980 probably in a few months, since I really want to put this 980 through it's paces:-)

Cool,  after our little discussion here about the hybrid crossfire, I think I'm just going to get a AMD R9 270 in the future and call it a day. As curious as I am about how it functions, the R9 270 would raise graphics performance by 100+ % vs up to 47%. It's a better price/performance overall.

Here is an interesting web page :-)
It is updated everyday, so it lets you know where your video cards compares to other and where it is on the food chain :-)

Love that mouse and with a warranty of 1 million clicks and 5800DPI got to love it :-)

I searched so long for a good gaming mouse and finally got the Logitech G402. Since I usually am "clawing" the mouse, the way most manufacturers position the third thumb button I can only reach it when I change the position of my hand. Not with this one. Perfect size imho. :)

Yeah, hard to beat the 5800 DPI, my Perixx maxes out at 1800 DPI.

Well, they had their problems, too. For instance, the Logitech G9 (the first laser mouse they had) was a very great mouse. I had it for two years, but eventuell it suffered some degredation. Naturally I wanted to get a new G9. By then it had been replaced by the G9x...which was of really bad quality.

Not only were the materials cheeper, but they also didn't bother to pack the second type of grip type the G9 had. And finally it...made a noise. The laser sensor to be precise. It was a high frequency humming sound. At that time I already heavily invested thought and money into getting a very silent pc...with the irony that this stupid humming mouse was cleary hearable.

I guess they put most of their money on the Proteus mouse they came out with.  :(

This is your card in comparison to desktop equivalent of what I have in my laptop.  Enjoy the laughs!   lol   :)

Well I am not laughing :-)
What is important is that you love your laptop :-)
And you have been able to play all the games you want, and that is the important thing in this situation:-)
Big difference between what they can pack in a laptop compared to a desktop unit :-)
But as long as you are gaming and having fun, I am all for that :-)
Plus if you did not have your laptop, I would have never had the pleasure to chat with you on here :-)
I say that is a big bonus in my opinion:-)
Keep on gaming :-)
We have a great bunch of people here, and I am super happy to know you all :-)

First you need a real PSU :-)
And I am sure there are plenty of dealers over the pond that sells them :-)
Might even have better prices there :-)
Unlike us in Canada our currency took a bit of a beating :-)
So prices here are dictated by how well the U.S. dollar is doing compare to ours :-)
Mine cost me close to 1200 dollars and I installed it myself :-)
Mine is the Asus Strix GTX 980 Direct CU II :-)
I stick with Asus because I love their products, their reliability and the construction, it does not feel like a plastic card, it is nice and heavy :-)
But be aware you need a case that can fit this card it is quite long and heavy at 2KG and around 24CM long :-)

You broke my heart. :(   :P

Getting one at the end of this month or early next month. Good thing that I postponed the purchase. We can see if your retailer is onto something with his intuition about falling prices...

And maybe Nvidia gives us some more infos about the 960 Ti or 965 Ti. A card almost as fast as the 970 with 3GB would suffice for my current pc, especially if they make a fair price.

You might be fairly happy with the 960 series as long as your resolution doesn't go above 1920x1080.  it's achilles heel is that it's not great for 4k use.

I know you mentioned you didn't really care for the AMD side of things but AMD R9 280 is really solid choice.

Yes supposedly the 960 is quite fast for the price and the reviews I read were quite positive :-)
And it can do real well at much higher than 1920x1080 it will do ok at 4K :-)
And if you SLI two 960 you now have a 980 at the fraction of the price of a 980 :-)

But since Nvidia screw up the 970 my dealer tells me that the 960TI will be coming soon and it may be just a 3Gig card but maybe 1% slower than the broken 970 :-)
And that is probably how Nvidia is going to fix the 970 debacle:-)

@Peregrinus
I would not but AMD their drivers are not that great and Mantle is not as improved as Physx from Nvidia:-)
And the 900 series from Nvidia are DX12 cards :-)

Also they claim you can Overclock the 960 to 1565Mhz without changing the card voltage :-)
So that is quite a bump since it runs in the 1250 range and boost in the 1350 range with no Overclocking:-)

I really don't think 2 960's equal a 980 since as you said in an earlier post. SLI/crossfire does strange things in a lot of games. 2 gig x 2 also doesn't equal 4 gigs unfortunately. Your concept of bigger is better really does apply here. :) You might as well get a 980 instead of 2 960's but if budget is a concern, I suppose it is a good option.

As for AMD, I use an APU so I use the Omega 14.12 drivers which are the latest official ones. Very solid drivers but I haven't had any real issues with their drivers since their 13 series.  It truly is unfortunate mantle is not getting the support it deserves since it's not a card specific API. It's something that both nvidia could use on their cards too but opted to use their own subset which fragments the market even more.  I'm not sure if that was such a great idea because it really benefits no one.  The DX12 argument is somewhat invalid since AMD cards that are R7-R9 are also DX12 compatible.

I won't even get into the whole Physx thing. Another example of Nvidia trying to make things more proprietary which is annoying.

960 Ti or 965 Ti would be better. There ought to be some noticeable raise in performance compared to my 760 or else it wouldn't make much sense.

And well...manual overclocking...I don't do that. With all the talk going on about the Frostbyte engine being super sensitive about overclocking I don't think that's a good idea tbh. ^^

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend the overclocking at all with Frostbite engine. I actually tested this by oc'ing my APU and sure enough, the damn thing crashed on me fairly quickly.  I haven't heard a whole lot about the 960 TI but it'll certainly be a step up from specs but real world performance is questionable. Your 760 is based on Maxwell chip also so I'm wondering what the real difference would be.

Dual 960 will give you nearly the speed of a 980, not exactly a 980 in memory, but in performance it will be quite close :-)

And they claim by many reviewers that it is a real nice card for the price and it did real well in benchmark for DAI BF4 60FPS plus, and for the price you get a real good gaming card that will come close to the 970, at least the 960 is not broken :-)

AMD says DX12 compatible,Nvidia sells the 900 series as DX 12 cards :-)
Now different wording :-)
But then again we were told DAI was made from PC gamer for PC gamer :-)
It is all in the wording I guess :-)
