I still can't fathom how Inquisition got Game of the Year. I know it was a BAD year for gaming. Ubisoft was front and center for 2014. A freaking card game (Hearthstone, which I am addicted to and love) was considered for the big award so that should tell you 2014 was a weak year. Steam's Greenlight idea was noble, but cunning jerks figured out how to profit over semi-builds and then abandon it. Yo, has the mafia found a way into the video game industry? Or is white-collar bean counters who used to run Enron? All I know is that the gaming industry is down to Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. Microsoft always grumbles about taking losses on their machines. Sony seems to be going through convulsions as of late. Nintendo Japan is not listening to Nintendo America. Just one of these guys ditching the market for a while could cause studios barely in the black to dissolve overnight. One Christmas, my parents bought me a Commodore 64 computer with a cassette drive. I had a Zenith Game System, Atari 2600, Colecovision and an Intellivision. They're all gone. Then the C-64 appeared out of nowhere and I was gaming again. I didn't buy another console until the original Nintendo came out. Even then, I still played on my C-64 (Infocom games, Gunship!, Strip Poker (after Mom and Dad were asleep)). I have bought a Playstation, Sega DreamCast and an XBOX. When the original Fallout came out, I bought a PC to play it. X-COM, Baldur's Gate, etc. solidified that for me, the PC was smarter, better and much more flexible. The video game industry is banking on consoles again. We really don't pay attention to history.

@Cyan Griffonclaw   Yep, the cycle is repeating itself. It's actually looping back towards PC again with all the indie stuff and kickstarter.  Console games have become too bloated for it to sustain itself. It's simply too much money to produce on it. I remember THQ saying that they would have to sell 3 million copies of their wrestling game just to break even.  You know where they are now.. dead.

Essorance, you could be in front of the camera?

If an Atlantic Ocean didn't seperate us I'd be on a camera with all of you guys, not just MG (personal prefence aside of course...)

I've been in front of a camera multiple times, mostly for gaming... not really shy, not keen on linking you those vids though LOL

I would LOVE to be on a gaming talk show, so much so that I've had ideas about the scene, setting, discussions, debates, guests... Not one of those typical "We're a gaming news website, we suck the balls of any dev or publisher" I'm talking about a hardline set of very difficult issues in gaming today. Competive gaming; games becoming too easy; golden age of gaming; DLC; microtrasactions; .... EA. Just to name a few.

Eh.

That is a great idea :-)
Actually telling the truth about games :-)
And not getting bought off by gaming companies :-)

EA has to stop treating Bioware like one of their other franchises. Bioware will join Black Isle in the Fade if it pumps out a fifth non-start on release again. As it is, preorder sales are not on EA's radar. They're counting on DLC and fluff crap for easy profits. Sigh.

The only competitive game I played, we'll never competed but played 1400 games was World of Tanks and that sucked hard :-)
Then I found out that the dev's were a bunch of crooked Russian gangsters
They were paying off people to have the best tank and to make people do micro transactions:-)

Bioware is finished now :-)

Too bad it is a Canadian company and being Canadian myself it is disappointing, since they are from my country:-)

Canada the country who brought you Bioware and Justin Bieber, guess you can put Bioware and Bieber in the same sentence:-)

But it is sickening that they sold out to EA and to the console market

I agree with you wholeheartedly. All the alpha and beta scenes from a year ago that I'm seeing before game release looks like it's an upgraded version of the modified Unreal engine from ME3.  The game looks different for the worst on Frostbite.

<snip>

OK, I shouldn't have watched that right after dinner.

Watching them compare DA:I to KOTOR has made me ill.

They probably compared it to DA:O too, but I simply couldn't watch any more after the KOTOR comparison.

Hey hey... First group, didnt really know what they were for.. Seeing some of the names, i tend to agree with many of the posts made by them..

Me: Origins Fan.. Less so of DA2, and really not digging DA:I..  I prefer ME1 over the 2, and 3.. ME 2 over 3.. Big KotOR fan.. enjoyed 1 more than 2.. NWN2 i liked.. Sadly i missed BG series.. Sank several thousand hours into Skyrim.. Dint like Oblivion, and cannot decide whether to play Morrowind or not.. I tend to be a graphcis snob, lol..While im more an rpg guy, The older Asassins Creeds, and Arkham series are also soem of my favorites,... Again AC1 was best imo! Not a Souls fan, though i gave Demons a fair shake! And i do really do many Indie games.. Again, graphics..

32yrs old.. Wife, 4 kids, mortgage, job, etc.. Poor as dirt... Gaming has become my "escape" for the last decade or so.. Though i did play alot in my youth.. Was a bad boy in my teens, spent some time in prison, then had some kids, and games keep me straight, and outve trouble!

Soooo.. Yea, thats a quick  Me :)

PS: i can come off as kindve an Ahole, its just my personality..Not deliberate.. Ive been told this many times over the years.. But am extremely nice/helpful to those who deserve/give respect where its due..

PS: Steam ID  Rizilliant     (Always)

I bid you welcome.

... Notice you had a visit from BioWareMod03 today.

I wonder if it's the company you keep ... ;)

Rizilliant,

With all the hours you have put into Skyrim I can only assume that you have it heavily modded.

Have you played any of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series?

Like Skyrim, or Fallout (which they resemble) there are hundreds of mods available for them.

I'm holding out for a fix to the recurring black/white screen crashes before I venture back into Thedas but when I do I'll be packing a bunch of these along too.

eek, still getting CTDs ?  nvidia?  did you try their latest driver?

p.s.  I just started playing Stalker Call of Pripyat again. I had forgotten how brutal that game was.  :)
