I have a RAID 5 setup. 4TB. It has an Intel Matrix manager that never needs defragging. That's probably why I have few if any graphics issues. UI sucks and controls are obscene tho. It definitely decompresses everything as it wants.

Time will tell if disk problems appear I guess

Welcome to the group!

So, I was considering doing a video review of a tactical god-sim I found on steam awhile back to coax you guys into playing it. Would/wouldn't watch?

Hello everyone! Surprised by the invitation, surely this needs a proper introduction but for certain i´m going to make a mess of this :P

My name is Ivan, i´m from Argentina (m i the only spanish native speaker around? Just courious) I´m 28 years old, work as a freelance translator and i´m a writer. Poetry mostly. Have one book published and close now to get a grant from the National fund for the arts, that´d be amazing and a life changer for this type of career, allowing me to do research jobs and publish a proper bilingual book, since i can manage decently both spanish and english. Also the chance to travel all around the globe doing what i love.

K, nuff of that.

Been in gaming since my... well, memory is fuzzy, but i remember playing randomly and get definitely amazed by videogames thanks to Metal Gear Solid narrative. I saw there what videogames were capable to deliver. So i started playing all kind of games with deep and strong stories, etc. Then my brother found a new game that just mesmerized him. And me. That game was Dragon age Origins. Since there, all my attention was on the RPG gendre but always looking for experiences similar to what Bioware delivered. Fan since then, played all their games and expanded to RPG in general. The witcher franchise, Dark souls, Diablo, Bethesda games, and a long etc. The only console i had was the PS1, then moved to PC cause all the beautiful anarchy in his community. Free (well, not entirely, but you know what i mean) of big companies leashes, a community always helping and making extra games from the existing vanilla ones, with graphics vanguards, innovative ideas, and a long list again. So, here i am.

Nowadays i have a a not really great rig but well, is what i have for now. Upgrading soon i hope.

Aaand... that´s it? Idk, i feel like i wrote a lot but didn´t introduce properly. Well, we´ll get to know each other i guess, so, just glad to be part of the sect  :D

Love and peace to all of you! Just leaving this here cause Cormac McCarthy is my favourite US writer now and this movie was at the level of the book and cause random stuff is just cool

The RAID is useless to use for 1 single HDD, right? Just wondering.

Same here, as Cyan would say.

Test the banter fix last night in hinterlands, doesn't work for me. Then again I'm still using patch 2, and my savepoint is just before the siege of Haven. Wonder if it's a condition there that stops banter during that period I don't know, or if banter is exhausted for now.

Jackal, I asked on the page before: What is this fix and can you please link to it? Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Well...comes bundled with the actual cheat table. That's pretty much a downer for me. And since my banter is okay-ish I think I'll leave it be. ^^

It is quite hard to tell if all the banter is working :-)
I wanted to play this game in story mode :-)
I did hear some banter, but not sure if it was all the banter:-)
So who knows how much banter we are missing :-)
Kind of like reading a book with some pages missing:-)

Are they ever going to fix this game?

Any news on a patch yet?

Maybe they will have it working by this time next year :-)

Damn Bioware for selling us this piece of garbage and not fixing it :-)

Makes no difference to me playing DA2 also with The Witcher :-)

DA2 has lots of banter at least, to make up for the lack of different dungeons:-)

No news of a new patch afaik.

Today I explored the last "bonus" map and have slain the last dragon. Despite the lack of story, these maps are fun.

The only downside is when I think about a replay. I don't see this happening anytime soon and while I'm usually not the fast-replay-type anyway I think it'll be worse for DAI because of those huge maps.

It was fun exploring them for the first time for several reasons: Getting to know their architecture, finding lore, finding gear, battling dragons. But now I know almost everything. A good story can be told multiple times but this...not likely.

Yeah, once you've seen all the areas, the replay is not there.  Nothing really changes the outcome anyway.

But it is not a great story if you are not sure if you are getting the entire story :-)
As in the banter bug :-)
I do not know if I had that bug, but after 7 hours of doing silly side quests and watching my team bouncing into each other like they were drunk that kind of turned me off :-)

Watching my magic user act like a tank and getting his ass handed over to him was comical:-)

And how many rabbit looking creature and those big Bulls do I have to kill?

I do not know but the beastiary of this game is certainly not a Dungeons and Dragons inspired :-)

What happened to good old evil goblins and skeletons and all that stuff :-)

To me it felt like a hunting game with a bad rifle as in keyboard and mouse, no keybindings and even 5 years old games you could keybind:-)

Just a nice looking junk game with no story :-)

Reminds me of a Ferrari with a moped engine under the hood maintained by a carpenter:-)

Gad! It's such a chore of a game! I spend so much time trudging around 'exploring' that the entire point of the main story is lost. At least with Skyrim you have enough freedom to do something with your character that the openess of the world is empowering. With Inquisition there is still a very linear story, so the immense amount of time you waste building power and travelling through a beautiful-yet-utterly-monotonous-in-its-emptiness world sucks all the urgency and point from the plot.

It's reminds me of reading a self published novel that drags on for 600 pages when the story is just interesting enough to make you hang in there but you know that a good editor would knock it back to 400 and make it a gripping read.

I want to finish it, but it's just so... so...ugh!

I lasted 7 hours before I got my refund and uninstalled this game :-)

Amazon fully refunded me, but the game still belongs to me, since it is still in my Origin game profile and I own the CD key :-)

So if in a year from now they fix this thing I just download it back again :-)

As I said before thank you Bioware for the free game :-)

But it is like thanking the garbage man for dropping garbage in your front lawn instead of picking up the garbage :-)

Oh, well done! I thought about taking it back to the store and asking but the store in question is a small local place and in my neck of the woods retailers like that are under enough pressure to keep their doors open as it is. They probably would have refunded me, but it most likely would have been them bearing the cost and since over the years they have supplied me with many bargains I figured I might as well take this hit for the team. *shrugs*

This is, however, the last time I pay full price for a game from a physical store. If I ever pay full price again (and bear in mind that this is the first full price game I have purchased since the first Assassin's Creed lol!) it will be from GOG (30 days moneyu back guarantee!) or like you, Amazon.

Because, Boo! Hiss! This has been a very hard lesson well learned.

Sales are fair game, of course -  I'm currently d/l The vanishing of Ethan Carter, half price on Steam right now. :P

Yes GODzilla put me up to GOG :-)

I downloaded The Witcher and The Witcher 2 :-)

I am playing The Witcher right now and when I am finished will play The Witcher 2 and i pre ordered The Witcher 3 coming out in May :-)

Cannot go wrong with CDPR these guys make PC games only and they are a Polish company.

They are small unlike EA and Crapware and they are not greedy like the 2 I just mentioned and they pump out an amazing product :-)

If you want The Witcher I have a gift cd key for it on GOG :-)

It's a great RPG :-)

Oh wow, that's very generous of you, but I already have TW 1&2 from the GOG end of year sale. :) Got them both for $AU30 which was awesome. Thank you for the kind offer though. :)

Have you seen Origin has them at the moment? I lol'd, why would you buy them from origin when you can have them DRM free? (says she who bought TVEC from Steam, but it was $10 cheaper there than at GOG and frankly I have spent way too much on games trying to rid myself of the bitter taste of DA:I of late).

Speaking of DA:I, can someone who has finished it please tell me if there is any plot significance to the Dog

In The Sky?

Because WTF? Is it an Ancient Aliens (or Elves) thing? Will I have to finish it to find out, or is it just another pointless bit of scenery?

Yes started playing DA2 also to get rid of the bad taste of DAI :-)

Maybe the dog is who programmed the keyboard/ mouse interface for DAI and also wrote the story :-)

Oh I never finished DA 2 either lol! Got about halfway through the third act (on my second attempt at playing) and just stopped caring.

Much like I stop caring about 1/3 of the way through DA:I - this is my fourth? attempt to play it now, the other three times I thought it was the character that put me off,  but now I have a character I love but am still bored as hell. Conclusion- the game sucks hairy goat balls, end of.

Well for me it was 7 hours and watched my team bouncing around like idiots and watched my Mage act like a tank and got his ass handed over to him and there was no way to tell to stay back :-)

AI sucks, story sucks, interface sucks that equals the entire game sucking :-)

But it is a pretty game.

I would have preferred less pretty with a great story and a great interface:-)

We got screwed we bought a console game for our high end PC :-(

But I feel better that I am 90 dollars richer :-)
