Dog looks like a glitch.
Having played it through once, I realized that none of the side quests/fetch quests are relevant. If you only get enough power to only do main/character quests, the game is actually enjoyable. Of course you'll will be skipping a lot of scenery I imagine the NPC idle movements are borked just like some of the banter since they do run around like complete idiots like MG was saying. So if you skip the filler, the game is actually around 40 hours or so in length and I think I would have been fine with that.

But the dog seems to be part of that mountain:-)
Sure does not look like a glitch to me :-)
The dog is the writer and director and PC porting of DAI :-)

There is relevance to the Wolf , but I'll let you find that one out on your own.

If I play this game in a year from now, that is if it is fixed by then :-)
I will stick to the main plot :-)
But at the beginning of the game you have to conquer a wood pile and do a bunch of side quests in order to get out and have the dancing buffoons with you :-)
And use that silly sonar crap :-)

EA has been laying off staff / "restructuring" from its studios ("Maxis" is gone for example) and from looks of things we're left with a very limited team at "Bioware" now to fix the game for PC - so I'm not holding my breath.
Even with the banter fixed/PC controls fixed, the game is very linear with its lack of RP options (which makes the side quests all fetch quests) - its forgivable for me in the first playthroughs but it becomes a chore on later ones. Only a small portion of the game are the main quests.
With Ray and Greg it seemed Bioware was rather semi-independent of EA's decisions, however now with "Bioware's" restructuring of staff, limited post-release support it's obvious the 'bear-hug' is coming down hard in the absence of old Bioware faces.

Haha! Dancing bufoons indeed! What is with them stomping about like hyper kids anyway? It's all I can do not to screech 'stand still' at them like a frustrated mum of three brats in the checkout line lol!
Ahh Peregrinus, Ancient Elves it is then! I have to say, the graphics in TVoEC (Unreal engine) is actually looking to be superior to DA:I. ME3 was Unreal wasn't it? Looks like they'd have been better off sticking to that engine, taking the funds cut from EA and absorbing it in the man hours gained not having to struggle with the idiotic FB3. Because it gained them nothing but a borked game in the end.
A borked game I am determined to finish- main quest and companions only- eventually. But much as I would do with the aforementioned tedious and long novel, I will play it in fits interspersed with much better games to sooth my irritation.
I am looking forward to the ME Next release, there shall be much entertainment to be had from the smugh 'I haven't bought it and won't for at least a year' sidelines. ![]()

Yeah, I actually made the same notion very early on in the forums. I think money would have been well spent using the Unreal engine again.

It was the Unreal engine and I did love those games :-)
I would have preferred they used that engine in DAI and give us the same interface and story, than giving us those pretty graphics and a garbage story :-)
I may be a graphic snob and everyone here knows why :-)
But I want to immerse myself in a game, not yawn and say yayyyyyyy I just conquered a wood pile, but it was a pretty wood pile :-)

He obviously wasn't much a team lead since the game is so all over the place.

I actually wouldn't mind a deep story with okay graphics then incredible graphics that my pc apparently can't handle well with mostly filler mmorpg type quests.

Oh wow, that's very generous of you, but I already have TW 1&2 from the GOG end of year sale.
Got them both for $AU30 which was awesome. Thank you for the kind offer though.
Have you seen Origin has them at the moment? I lol'd, why would you buy them from origin when you can have them DRM free? (says she who bought TVEC from Steam, but it was $10 cheaper there than at GOG and frankly I have spent way too much on games trying to rid myself of the bitter taste of DA:I of late).
Speaking of DA:I, can someone who has finished it please tell me if there is any plot significance to the Dog
In The Sky?
Because WTF? Is it an Ancient Aliens (or Elves) thing? Will I have to finish it to find out, or is it just another pointless bit of scenery?
@Lunafancy, it has a lot to do with the plot, i kinda wanna explain it but i´ll be spoiling much... Is the image of Fen ´Harel, the dread wolf. I´ll copy paste some of his wikia thingy so you can know about him and don´t be spoiled. (also i´m too lazy now to write it down ![]()

You know what I really don't get? All there huffing and puffing re the graphics and then they have that hair and the ridiculously shiny armour, not to mention the weirdness around the outline of the characters. The graphics really aren't that great for the system requirements.
Edit due to cross posting:
Thanks Sutree! I saw it hanging there in the mountain and was all "WTH?" last night lol!

I have to agree here. though they did sort of fix the plastic hair, so I guess I have to give them that...

I was watching a pax live thing on youtube and the shiny armor thing is an engine limitation. it's either shiny or it's not. As for the hair, it's not really fixed. if you put it on anything but high , you get shiny hair. very likely a another engine thing.

NP! I was also wtf all the time with statues and decoration in general, but in the lore is almost everything explained. I think, didn´t read all that.
I think the system requirements don´t match at all with the graphics cause is all about how Frostbite behaves. Or its limitations, as @Peregrinus said.
Also you can see beutiful stuff all around but is all like... plastic. I don´t know if they did the right call using Frostbite for RPG. Maybe was EA´s idea. Dragon Age and Battlefield crossover coming soon.

I think a strong and stylish art team can overcome most of the issues created by a game engine if given the time and knowledge. It's plainly obvious that it was simply not ready when playing the game. There are some really nice vistas, some great characterization and then the rest of it so generic , it's forgettable.
#2125
Posté 12 février 2015 - 04:11
True. I think it matches more with Mass effect style tho. I remember Mass effect having that "plastic" (i don´t know how to call it, lol, sry) characterization, as well as the textures mapping and the vistas and the enviroment. Or maybe i´m just thinking in plastic cause of the faces XD
But yeah, in due time i think the engine will pay off, if is properly mastered.
