Unreal Engine 3.5 was a beast, highly optimised, very fast loading screens and great graphics.

I agree with you strongly here. I thought the art team had pretty much mastered that engine and would have been a great choice for DAI.  I think what might have hurt them here is that they didn't have all of the art team with them anymore since many of them left to form indies or left for other companies.

True. I think it matches more with Mass effect style tho. I remember Mass effect having that "plastic" (i don´t know how to call it, lol, sry) characterization, as well as the textures mapping and the vistas and the enviroment. Or maybe i´m just thinking in plastic cause of the faces XD

But yeah, in due time i think the engine will pay off, if is properly mastered.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean.  That strange glossy sheen on everything but Frostbite 3 engine is even worse when it comes to that.  At least the hair did not look like lego in Mass Effect.

So, I ju7st went and had a squizz (look for you non-Assies lol!) at some BF4 gameplay on you tube... tell me again why this engine is supposed to be the shizzle for graphics? Because that game looks plastic as well. None of it really exceeds Unreal looks wise. What's AC Unity and Black Flag running on, because I got BF ($15 woot!) to compensate myself for the disappointment of DA:I and the graphics are better on that game.

Okay I googled. AnvilNext engine. Someone should grab that engine (because parkour is fun, you have to admit it) and make a DAO x Dragon's Dogma game for pc only.

Tell me you wouldn't buy that!

Dragon's Dogma is a technical marvel ,game engine wise but Capcom has a long way to go in it's storytelling.  It's the same engine that Resident Evil 5 was running.  It's pretty interesting thing to see what a different art team can do with the same engine.  As for Battlefield or even Call of Duty, I've never understood why people thought it looked so great. It made things gritty I guess?  I'm not too sure since  I didn't find them very engrossing.  You want to try something that is truly gritty and graphically impressive, check out Stalker Call of Pripyat.

COP is great even vanilla, modded it is outstanding.

Too bad they went online MP for their next venture ...

SGM and one or two other mods even add maps from SOC and Clear Sky to COP.

There are several superb weapon pack mods too.

Ammo is always scarce so I tend to carry a full mod G36 and AN-94, just in case.

Have you ever gotten 'Dead City' or 'Valley of Whispers' to work?

(edit)

Do not forget to use the 'crow fix' mod!

Any chance Dragon's Dogma will come to the PC ... other than their announced F2P Dragon's Dogma Online?

I got it for my boys on XB360 and they seem to enjoy it enough.

Yeah, mods are pretty amazing for COP.  I personally use Arsenal overhaul but I stay away from the visual mods since I am playing it on a laptop. I may install them on the desktop. I generally rely on a SPAZ shotgun (heavily modified), and a sniper rifle of some kind. Rifles have a tendency to jam a bit too much.  I haven't tried the Cit of Death or Valley of Whispers.  Are they buggy?

I hear you re DD story, the dialogue is cringe-worthy too, those are the things I suggest we take from DAO. :) But all is forgiven when you scale your first monster...

Dragon's Dogma did fairly well on console so it's possible but Capcom has been hurting financially lately so it's uncertain. That would be pretty awesome to see it ported though.

I think there are many who wish fror it but to date nothing that I know of. I did not know about the F2P online version, interesting. It is a fun game.

Best kill shot ever in the game for me was against a bandit at 900 meters away. I was using a Dragunov SVU in crouched position. One shot , one kill.  :)

Been checking next gen engines: Unreal engine 4, CryEngine 3, Frostbite 3, Fox Engine, and the most impressive so far is, for me, Snowdrop Engine, the one that´s being used for The division (remember this will be an Arpg) I was just wondering wich one does better for RPG in general.

Oh god i just rememberd: RED ENGINE.

PD: Except for Snowdrop and Red Engine i saw plastic textures in all the others engines. What´s with the plastic thingy?

I´d give my one of my eyes for parkour rpg tactical frankenstein. xD

My current install is using:

Absolute Nature and Structures

Artifacts

Audio mods

Massive Simulation Overhaul

Realistic Combat Overhaul

Realistic Weapons

SGM

stalker_cop_1602_crowfix

stalker_cop_real_weapon_names_eng

Suit and Upgrade mods

better_flashlight_plus_1.1

wearyourgoddamnhelmetmod

Nowhere near the mods available for FONV or Skyrim and doesn't have HD texture mods of the same quality as they do, but is still quite good visually and the art lends itself to the setting.

(edit)

Nice shot!

A bandit, or one of the mercs in the sewage plant?

One of my favorite spots is the pipeline across the bridge there.

Affords a great shot into the sewage plant with an SVU ...

The Division looks promising ... but with the way "AAA" publishers have been rolling out turkeys here lately i think I'll wait a bit to jump on board that ride.

I may have to have a new PC just to run it anyway ...

Snowdrop engine looks very promising but I'm wondering what the requirements for that are, considering the steep requirements for Red Engine 3.

As for COP, I'm pretty sure it was a bandit. He didn't have a lot on him. I did take his bandages though.  :)

That's a lot more then I like to run.  I usually  run Stalker COP Complete with Arsenal.

True. Thinking about it, the game will be an online rpg, MMO, so that will make it more dificult to run. Online gaming usually is a performance killer.

Is already number 3? Thought it was 2. Dem.

Complete was good, but I wanted the "extra" maps in SGM.

Well I'm nearing the end of the game and I must admit that I'm a bit sad. Despite it's shortcomings it was really cool and a beast of a game. I'm speaking about size. Games this size are very, very rare.

Once in a while we are lucky to get our 24+ hour game, sometimes even a shooter like Bioshock Infinite (+ story DLCs). 50+ hour games like Mass Effect or The Witcher doesn't come out that often either. And when we dive into the 100 to 150+ hour sphere, we're probably talking about one or two in a decade. And DAI is one of these games. I'm currently clocking in at around 170 hours lol. :D

It'll be a while since another game that grande comes around. Maybe the next Fallout or the next Skyrim. The Witcher 3 could be among them. GTA 5...I guess it's more in the ~50 hour range.

TES games can be that long, most of my characters get to around 150+ hours, unless mods don't feel like playing well, like how it's running for me atm, the last 6 months I get a massive line of ctds after about the first 4 hours of play off a new character, and I can't figure out why... I didn't add anything to my load order, or move any mods around... didn't alter anything that I can think of. might have been that last skyrim patch though, or a cat update. too many unknowns.
