Ok I stand corrected. I had no idea that happens with Zevran. Like I said, I only romanced him a few times. First time I pushed and failed. Second time I just accepted the gift. I did sacrifice myself while in a romance and it did say he never loved again but with the warden alive I never got that part of the romance (him coming back to the warden and saying those things..which, wow, sounds really sweet I wish I did get that :P). So from what I saw and experienced I judged him as not marriage worthy. My bad, sorry.

As for IB in a dress. I lol'd at that he would definitely look...ridiculously funny. But who says you have to get married in a dress? My mom got married in t-shirt and jeans :P and plus marriage wouldn't work for IB with him being part of the Qun, even if he left the Qun, plus I think the dragon tooth necklace would suffice as for them staying together and considered "married"

Yup! As much as I love the characters of Inquisition, their romances don't feel near as fleshed out as the winding path to unlocking Zevran's heart was. I also miss Wynne, hauling me off to the side to give me a stern talking to about how Zevran is leading me astray with his wily antivan charms. Where is she now when I'm romancing Iron Bull? I'm sure she'd have a lot to say on that!

Maybe she'd give you tips.

Shhh. Iron Bull doesn't have to know that. Lavellan will silence anyone who says otherwise. There MUST be a dress, and it MUST be worn by the bigger of the two getting married, or else the whole thing won't work. (This is the only way I could get motivated for a wedding!)

Edit: Now, the problem would come if Bull ever met Warden or Hawke, and the two of them will have very different stories. For Hawke, the broody elf must wear the wedding dress, it's a requirement. And for the Warden, the elf with...an...accent...must wear it? ...Yeah!

Cannot get caught in the lie!

Indeed. Romance is fine the way it is. It doesn't demand expansion. The game itself, the story, game play, those demand resources.

Marriage should be like an epilogue thing. Unless you're a noble and you need to secure a alliance or something.

I really want to marry Iron Bull after I brought up marriage as a joke and he says "You *ARE* evil." It was so cute! I'm very attached to the Iron Bull character. I also told him that I loved him, and his reply was surprisingly earnest. That's what I love about the Iron Bull romance; you can roleplay a casual relationship and a comitted one, and, thank the Maker, it doesn't end in tragedy. It would make my Dragon Age experience that much more special, personally.

Marriage is a business transaction that is meant to produce heirs and aid in inheritance. Even if the codex on the subject didn't make it clear, Vivienne should have. That's why there are no marriages for the players. S/S players would be singled out. While there are S/S relationships among the nobility, those are publically accepted. They still aren't married.

So in order to have s/s content, my lifestyle gets singled out. Add that to me still not having any full true options of my sexuality and yeah this seems fair.

I disagree. The romances are not fine the way they are.

It isn't a relevant enough part of the game to warrant any more investments. I can play the game in full without having to touch romance getting the same experience. Thus it would make more sense to focus on those parts of the game.

No they don't. Some of your companions don't even recognize it as a marriage and mock the idea.

Imo it is kind of a marriage in name only at least thats how it comes off to me, and most of people you travle with in DA2 are on different levels of dickitry so them mocking that isn't surprising. Maybe if it felt more of an actual thing instead of "If I suggest this maybe she'll leave me alone aw crap that didn't work'' I could understand getting upset over it but poor Seb's romance is kind of lacking all around (even the Fear demon won't mention the poor guy like it does Hawkes other possible LIs) Just my impression on why it comes off as being mocked. Feels like a mock marriage in general imo.

As for marriage and kids and all that shabam for a DA game, why not? I always enjoy any chance to squeeze in talking about more 'normal' every day life stuff with companions and LIs so even if its just talking about it as a maybe for down the road I'd be in for that, I don't even need a cut scene I just wanna be able to discuss stuff like that in general with them adds another nice little layer of immersion for me.

The difference between Thedas and games like Fable or Skyrim is that BW's games are character-driven. So, something that significant wouldn't be introduced as a gimmicky gameplay feature. There are a couple characters you can suggest marriage to - one is more serious, another somewhat jokingly - but of course, when you're fighting an ancient Darkspawn Magister who might as well be the devil incarnate, marriage is likely not going to be a priority and would most likely be something notoriously hard to write successfully. Some characters would likely not be interested in marriage - others more receptive to it - and there's a delicate balance at play to make sure the gameplay serves the story, and not vice-versa. That's kinda why I like how they did Solas et al's romances; they fit that character's personality immaculately.

I could see it being possibly implemented as a post-game feature if it was ever entertained.

I never disagreed that the game doesn't need romance. I disagree with the notion they are fine as they are.

All the more reason for them to at least try to put a serious attempt in.

And yeah, I noticed that about it too. The only time it gets noted is by Hawke herself.

I'd rather them actually have it, but even a discussion abut it that isn't a joke or ends in ridicule from the other person would be nice.

Being married (in game) at least in some games , doesnt always mean 'let settle down and pop out brats' . Khalid and Jaheira were married for a long time and they never stopped working for the Harpers and doing good or Travelling . And never had kids either .

I would support this kind of marriage .

Well as soon as you make a proper argument as to why a significant portion of the fanbase should be alienated to pander to an extreme minority of the fanbase, maybe BioWare will entertain this.

You mean other than all sexualities should be represented and/or shown in media?

Plus let there be s/s marriage. Just because Thedas hasn't done it yet doesn't mean it can't start.

However, numbers for your statement please.

No, I mean why should marriage be included just to pander to a financially insignificant portion of the fanbase? Homosexuality may make up a smaller portion of the population, but they do not of BioWare's fanbase. But more than that, why should a more significant portion of the fanbase be alienated and excluded for a smaller one? Especially with something so minor to the story as a marriage scene?

Plus let there be s/s marriage. It can be started or a special case.

Well it hasn't, and so far there is no need to. When marriage becomes a means of expressing love, which won't happen anytime soon, then complain. Otherwise, there's no reason why anyone in Thedas would stress this.

However, numbers for your statement please.

I'm not going to entertain you by pretending I have numbers that express how significantly the fanbase cares about getting married before banging, but at this point, you already know you're in the minority, to pretend otherwise is kind of silly. Marriage itself being at an all time low in couples in our own world should be proof enough of that.

This part I was referring to sexual orientations and not lifestyle so can't really answer.

People in Thedas have married for no reason than love, for example Malcolm and Leandra Hawke, so that time has already come.

Then don't make statements with as extreme of terms as you have.

But yes, I know. That's why I would like to see my lifestyle choice at least be available in games since my sexuality probably never will be, but even that gets shafted and turned into a joke.
