Eh it's not something I need from the romances -- I'm perfectly happy with my Warden Amell being Alistair's "mistress" -- but I do understand that it is meaningful to other players.

I think mention of it would be appropriate for some NPCs. For example, Varric jokingly calls fem Inquisitor "Mrs. Rutherford" if in a Cullen romance. I think it would be amusing to tease Cullen about it and have him react in some way. Or maybe say something about him being "Mr. Trevelyan" or something.

WTF? So people want a fictional world based on medieval Europe to have same sex marriages or else they'll be pissed? What's next on the anachronism train? People upset there's no tanks and guns?

Have you even played this game. Literally, no cares if you're gay or not in Thedus unless your a noble who has to make a blood line. This is not mid-evil europe.

I asked Sera to marry me, She just laughed at my face. :(

And in a sexual way say you're crazy. That's not context for no.

That's Sera's way of saying "Yes please!"

I dunno about anybody else but when she said "You're a loony." with that look on her face, I almost creamed.

They even patched Varric calling an Inquisitor who romanced Cullen 'Mrs Rutherford' so that he doesn't anymore.

Did people actually find files for this? Blech. To the best of my knowledge this is a fan rumor but I haven't been around much lately. [EDIT: And by "fan rumor" I mean "urban legend". His last name only comes up for a fraction of a second in the entire game; even if it was in character for Varric to say something like that, which I don't think it is, I don't think they could reasonably expect more than 1% of players to know who the hell "Rutherford" is.]

I think the way the game does handle the idea of marriage in the Cullen romance is perfect--ambient dialogue in the Winter Palace indicates that it's on his radar, he explicitly says to the Inquisitor that he wants to stay with her after "all this" is over, and everything else is left to headcanon.

With all the effort that goes into large-crowd cutscenes, I can't imagine anything they could do to advance the story with a wedding scene that wouldn't be better done with a political ball or something that players who don't do the romances or don't like the idea of marriage could still enjoy.

This Varric calling the inquisitior "Mrs Rutherford" is like that time people on the forum claimed Varric will be horribly mutated if he kept the lyrium shard. Or that time they said he'd leave if Hawke dies.

Or how about that time you meet Sten. And if you're a mage Qunari he'll refuse an alliance. Or if you bring Iron Bull with you he won't even talk to you.

You'd think that after so many years of internet people would've learned it's full of BS. A breeding ground for liars.

I don't recall where I read about it, but it being a rumor makes more sense. Even if it is silly banter, it would be really out of place in Dragon Age since, as far as I know, we've never heard anyone referred to in that manner before across three games.

My current play is my second Cullen romance. Since I've got the whole ball thing down now I'll be able to better appreciate some of the finer details like that.

Other than the use of "Mrs" being out of place in DA, it doesn't seem too outlandish. Also, people know they aren't going to see all of the content in a single play, so falling for this one doesn't seem that bad.
