So I was watching last nights Saturday Night Live with Kevin Hart and there was a sketch where rulers of a medieval kingdom need to flee and find a new base because a dragon is attacking, and the joke is that they keep pausing to sing instead of running. I thought this might be a reference to the whole "Dawn WIll Come" thing. Might be a stretch, but one of them also says "Maker watch over us!"

You can watch the sketch here (if you have access to hulu): "The Journey"

Anyone else think its a reference? Or is it just me?

Either way, Saturday Night Live stopped being funny about 20 years ago.

Maybe as much about the TV show Galavant?  But yes, "Maker" seems like a shout out.

I lament what could have been. Metallica references; always take the opportunity!

its very broad assumption because many games in medieval settings have have dragons.

Why did I watch that? It's SNL...I should've known it wouldn't be funny.

But yes, "Maker" seems like a shout out.

Why? Plenty of settings& religions tend to call their 'main' deity Maker or Creator.

This is what I would think it's in reference too as well.

I agree that the sketch is mostly about "Galavant." Pretty sure "Maker" was a DA shout-out, though. We see this sort of thing from time to time; anyone else remember "Ass Effect" on Jon Stewart's show?

I don't think it was a reference to Galavant, because that show is already satirizing musicals. Satirizing satire is an obvious faux pas, even for this amateurish SNL.

In just think it was a bad, generic sketch.
