The problem with "master race" isn't that it associates you with Nazis but that it associates you with /r/pcmasterrace and their ilk.

Who in the world knows anything about r/pcmasterrace? Or cares?

That's like worrying about being on a Bioware forum when they have a horde of fans obsessed with romance.

For everyone calling yourself master race, don't. It makes you a potential neo Nazi according to PC Gamer and SJWs.

Maybe it's best if we don't turn this thread into that kind of discussion.

In an attempt to move back on topic, I'll just say a little bit about what drew me to PC gaming. I guess the main thing is that the kind of games where having a controller would be most useful were exactly the kinds of games I least enjoyed, because they demanded a lot in terms of reflexes, hand-eye coordination, etc. (For instance, I'm convinced that there are some NES games like Ninja Gaiden and Punch Out! that, due to my poor reaction time, I'm just physiologically incapable of ever beating).

By contrast, in the early days of PC gaming there was a lot of stuff that just didn't translate to consoles at all, like point-and-click adventure games, turn-based RPGs, space exploration games like Star Control, etc. Those were the gaming experiences that most drew me to gaming in general, and in spite of a lot of the crap you had to put up with back then (does anyone remember boot disks?), I've stuck around ever since.

i believe gaming become industry during these (holyshhh) 25 years.

and pc gaming was under influenece of console gaming for some time. which had negative impact on overall quality of pc games, because most of them are ports (like DAI, as example, or Witcher 2.) Even first person shooters (which is a joke to play fps on a console.) on a pc are suffering.

so basically pc gaming falling down into cloaka, unless indie would save us.

I just discovered today ( I know I'm dumb) which game sparked the master race meme, and I'm beaming with pride. It literally made my day that Yahtzee chose the the Witcher. Perfect choice, and what an ignorant wanker to start a meme off that.

I didn't like that review either, he didn't warn players about how loathsome 90% of the NPCs are in that game.

YOUR MOTHAH SUX DWARF CAWK

It is the better of the two, though, and Act 2 is by far the best part of the series (shots fired?).

The first "home computers" were consoles: Coleco, Intellivision, Magnavox Odyssey, etc. Many hours of fun were had. Consoles are still going strong.

Then the first true personal computers, which became what we think of PCs today, came along. Have been a PC gamer since. I don't feel like I'm part of a "master race", just a fellow gamer with a platform preference. Only thing we need to be careful of is when a newer version of a PC OS decides to reduce support for games. A big reason I'm sticking with Win7 for now; lets me run modern games, older games via DOSBOX or virtual machine, and emulators.

The only issue I have is when a dev/publisher tries to treat the different platforms like they're identical where UI and performance are concerned (more or less straight port).

That's easy. Because he has been our only ally. Really.

Microsoft, for instance, believes their XBox will do better if they can kill off PC-gaming.

Gabe is trying to combat this by publishing the steam OS. The only problem is that the Steam Os has no games(inb4 playstation joke). If the steam OS is succesful, the valve will have control over the platform and the application.

I like playing on my PC. Mods come out for PC games. Even if the game isn't especially moddable, mods come out. And the very best mods make the romances better. So I play on my PC.

Woohoo a whole dedicated thread to gaming community segregation.

The very first post nothing else than the alltime classic and most obnoxiously overused lame joke I ever saw in any gaming community: consoles vs PC.

Really?

Uhm..... Steam OS is just a version of Linux.   The main hurdle is that there are so many different kernels (I believe the term is) that some game companies may not wish to support it since you have to make sure a linux port works with all the major releases (Mint, Ubuntu, etc).

Plus some of the smaller publishers will probably assume that Linux users will run the game in wine or some other OS environment emulator.

Though honestly I hope Gabe's version is not successful as Valve/Steam are not very consumer friendly (Steam introduced End user agreements making it so the consumer no longer owns the product on top of no refund policy and giving developers free reign to remove negative criticisms) and even the creators of Linux have stated that Steam OS goes against the reasons they created Linux in the first place.

And you should wait until Wednesday before you determine MS's position on pc gaming.

The very first post nothing else than the alltime classic and most obnoxiously overused lame joke I ever saw in any gaming community: consoles vs PC.

Really?

Except it's not the first time such a thread has ever existed, however it is perhaps the first time someone has done it for the PC side on the spectrum. Hell when people talk about the next big game coming out and which platform people will be playing it on it's always the same 2 names, microsoft, and sony. So who's the real perpetrator of segregation here? Not PC, and not me for proudly proclaiming my PC Gamer status. If anything there should be more of these threads all across the internet until the stink of them forces developers to acknowledge the PC Gaming community more openly instead of building console games then waiting a year and seeing if their last title reached expectations sales wise and only if it hadn't try to haphazardly make a PC port for a few extra bucks. Why do we have to plead to top name developers who build their games on computers then design them for Consoles, to then port it back to PC?
