Does it spawn only at the Hissing wastes merchant? Or can I get it with a chest farming method as well? I've been trying for hours at the hissing wastes merchant trying to get this damn thing but with no luck.

I just bought the Superior Prowler Armor from the merchant in the Canyon.

I am 100% sure it's because I used an Inquisition Point on the 'The Short List' under Connections. The merchant in Suleidin Keep also had updates after this.

It requires that you already have 'The Rare Stocks', 'Exacting Buyers' and 'Only the Finest' before you can get this. All in all four points.
Some schematics are not avilable without this perk. I wonder if this is one of them?

I don't remember if I got my hands on it otherwise in my previous playthrough.

The Short List Perk is a given. And I already have that. But 'The Rare Stocks', 'Exacting Buyers' and 'Only the Finest' do not effect stock in any way shape or form. They only make items cheaper and have merchants pay more for the stuff you sell to them.

It does spawn only from hissing wastes merchant, if you were looking for the mail/coat version, I'd recommend that you do the T3 farming in Emprise du Lion.

I'd recommend doing the merchant inventory reset from skyhold and then saving/loading. You'll get it from RNG eventually. Although I haven't been able to find that damn Superior Venatori Helmet Schem from that dang dog yet >.>

Got that. I basically bought ever recipe he sells until he eventually sells the one I am after. And merchant inventory reset from skyhold? I thought all you had to do was leave the zone, save and reload, and his stock would reset?

It's better to leave the zone, sell something at a merchant in this other zone (e.g. Skyhold). Save your game, close your game and restart it. Then, you have a 100% stock reset.

 

As some mentionend before: The superb. prowler armor is only obtainable from HW merchant.

I'm assuming that each merchant only has a set list of schematics to sell, correct?  I have the Short List perk and have been back quite a few times to the HW canyon merchant but he no longer has any schematics at all for sale.  Does that mean that I've already got all the possible schematics from him and need to move elsewhere to find the ones I still don't have?

I believe this to be true, yes.

Before; I tried just leaving the zone, save, exiting to the dashboard, and restarting the game. Did that about 30 times and not once did I come across the schem. Them I did the way that you described here and after just 2 attempts it finally popped up.

Thanks, Cody and Shevy. Have been stuck for days trying to get the Sup Prowler Armor at Hissing Wastes merchant.
Finally tried the method Shevy suggested - run 1 = Sup Venatori Helmet, run 2 = Sup Battlemage Armor, run 3 and 4 = nothing, run 5 = sup Prowler Armor!

I am now done with the HW merchant, and my poor horse thanks me.

I have tried every method on how to restock the hissing wastes A hole, and his inventory never changes EVER.  So pissed.
