So I've done a few of these now, mostly just trying to get better and faster (without resorting to bee grenades), thought I'd share a bit of insight.

The biggest obstacle to Champion solos is that periodically the dragon will decide to "hop" away, breaking the link on To the Death, and thereby resetting your damage bonus. From what I can tell this triggers when the dragon is consistently attacked at it's flank.  So if you stay at or around it's front, it will be content to stay near melee range, allowing TtD to continue to stack, drastically speeding up the encounter.  Decided to make a video demonstrating this, as well as including spec and gear stats in the video this time.  Enjoy =D

sounds silly but if you want to do this faster add in charging bull because sometimes the dragon will leap twice so you charging bull and link in a lunge and slash to close more distance without TtD! breaking

because it will be a short leap TtD still active then another TtD broken.

if you were charging down with CB that gap wouldnt have happened and you'd have shaved off 20s~ off of the dragon kill

on top of which with gore and trample you would need those 10% and 7.5% less stamina masterworks

you could use hidden blades/walking/bomb/**Horn of valor** on shield and armor instead especially since your stamina regen rate actually stays the SAME or SLOWS down when you use reduce cost masterworks. It's actually better to use the added stamina masterworks because of the regen rate!

anyway

NITPICK NITPICK NITPICK

good vid enjoyed it :3

Yeah, it was my first toon way back when I didn't realize that stamina masterworks were shite lol.  I'm on my third playthrough and just wanted to dust him off and try for a faster time. I might make another champion at some point, but right now finishing up my KE and Assassin playthroughs.

Depending on when you knock him down you can sometimes avoid the phases.  Some of my other solos have adds, some don't due to lucky timing on phase transitions.  You'll notice things like the 4 second or 20 second Tempest and Assassin solos don't have adds either.

Nothing says Ravager dies like a tempest with might potion, regen potion, health potion from fall damage, flask of lightning, poison weapons, stealth and thousand cuts

True.  That's my only mental justification for using Jars of Bees on my champion, "If Tempest and Assassin's solos count with Offense potions, Champions should count with grenades."

I'm curious when that rogue would actually use a regen potion. :D

Even an assassin - who lacks Thousand Cuts - utterly steamrolls a dragon if they swig a mighty offense tonic first. I suck at combat, but my terrifying rogue inquisitor melts dragons before they can deal more than one kick to her head. I'm not even joking, I check her potions tab after each fight, and sometimes she hasn't even used any. She hunted down a dragon 3 levels above her and only used one.

It's very impressive to see a champion do it, I certainly wouldn't have the skill for a battle of that length. Only way I solo dragons is through Mighty Offense + my inquisitor scares me send help.

You can do it much faster as a Champion if you use consumables too.  I just wanted to see if I could do it without them. ;)

use it at full health after the health potion because of the tempest skill that gives you STACKABLE DAMAGE when you use potions and elixirs

also i screwed around with Mighty Tonic + Cloak of Shadows with the entire party....

DEAR GOD

Cole -> cloak of shadows

Inquistor -> might tonic + Mark of rift
Solas -> Mighty Tonic + Static Cage + Firestorm/blizzard depending on dragon type

Sera -> Have here move to point blank range with the bow of the griffon and have her pop mighty tonic, regen potion and lightning flask

Light flask + cloak of shadows is a fire works show

Ah, clever. A health potion wouldn't be usable at full health, but a regen potion is.

Tempest bursts get a 10% damage boost at the cost of one elfroot

seems good to me
