The show gradually gets better and better as it goes along, but the first few episodes are one of my favorites in the show due to it focusing on Cao Cao's rise to power.

Cao Cao's welcoming behavior and treatment toward Guan Yu, Xu You and to a degree Chen Gong is really priceless. I was like :D at those scenes! I've seen he is done similar treatments to the other men of higher talent with minor roles too.

Yeah, the show has its fair share of incompetent players "pre Three Kingdoms time". It is after Ep 33 if I recall correctly that that the show gets really interesting when the nation is divided into Shu, Wei and Wu.

Lu Bu is basically China's very own Chuck Norris.

PUHLEEEEASE Chuck wishes he was Lu Bu. if that Rattle snake bit Lu Bu it would catch fire from the awesomness.

End of episode 18.

Just fantastic.

"If the price of being gentlemanly is being oppressed, trampled upon, destroyed or even killed, I'd rather be a crafty villain who can realise his own dreams and aspirations.

The greatest traitor has always resembled an honest man, and the greatest falsehood come across as truth. Righteousness and evil cannot be discerned by their appearances..."

Cao Cao love forever <3

Glad to hear that you managed to pick it up again.

And yes, Cao Cao is amazing. Then again that goes without saying.

My LOTGH had me more than distracted.

Plus it would've been an overdose of politics for me between reading The Prince, Kingdom, watching LOTGH AND TK2010?

I might have come out a senator in the end, complete with bribe money and one expensive suit n' tie.

Next on my book list will be either Discourses on Levy, World of Ice and Fire orrrrrrrrrr the next Witcher book.

I recommend Discourses, if you still have a mind for politics. Prefer it over The Prince, since it offers a more substantial analysis of his preferred type of government for the long term, along with other aspects that gets a larger focus, including historical comparisons (the Romans).

KoP said the same thing...

creepy....

But yeah, it really depends on what I'm itching for when it comes to those three.

Might just go for World since it's shorter and I can gush over it with Geth.

Last time we talked about crappy Kings and how Ned wasn't that bad at all.

But knowing Geth I'll get into it and he'll just talk about sentai.

God dammit.

Wish I did read the Prince earlier tho'

I could have called BS on all the times somebody called something Machiavellian when that character was doing the exact opposite of his teachings.

Like Macbeth.

Jeez.

Dammit KoP! Stealing my swag!

But cool, World of Ice and Fire sounds fun. And yes, I definitely share the opinion regarding "Machiavellian".

Cao Cao is my fav character along side Liu Bei.

It's nice to have a contrast like that and every time they're together I can just feel that tension.

Errr...

19, yeah.

Awesome, love the fact that Cao Cao decided to check how many support him in order to evaluate the risks of ascension.

Other than that, I'm liking that the Emperor is not a total dunce and is going to start his own retaliation.

No doubt Cao Cao will squash them like flies, but I think this'll prove interesting.

Power struggles are great and all, but I certainly love that extra layer of depth when it comes to internal struggles within  a faction.

For me its Guan Yu.

DW wise its Ma Chao.

Yeah, Cao Cao is hands down the best character in the show. Character ranking for me would be as follows:

1. Cao Cao

2. Sima Yi

3. Liu Bei

4. Lu Su

5. Zhuge Liang

There are plenty of others that I have high respect for as well.

For me its Guan Yu.

DW wise its Ma Chao.

He has quite an entertaining fight with a certain character within the show. Though never myself played the DW games.

Not gotten to Sima Yi yet.

IRRC he instigates a pretty awesome coup, no?

Or was that something else altogether?

He does a lot of awesome stuff. That is one of many things that the dude schemes up. But he appears much later in the show.

I'm at Ep.42 and haven't encountered Sima Yi yet. Finally the war with the south happened in this episode.

Zhuge Liang is the most genius of them all, but I like Lu Su more as his personality resembles mine...

Can't say who are my top 5 in any order, but OK take this:

Guan Yu

Chen Gong

Lu Su

Zhuge Liang (Kangming)

Zhou Yu

Both Cao Cao and Liu Bei did something unlikeable, so I don't put them in my top 5! Also that Xu You ... *facepalm*

I also like to write the list of perished talents. Maybe later.

Battle at Red Cliffe had Cao Cao make some pretty ludicrous moves. Hadn't it been based on history, I would argue that what happened was just to favor Zhuge Liang, cause they were that out of place (some factors were impressive, and some made me go "lol wtf!?").

Alright, y'all have piqued my interest.  I feel like I need to give this a shot.  Where can I find this show?  Netflix and Hulu aren't helping me out right now.

It was actually Zhou Yu and Zhuge Linag's success in planning tactics for war and neutralizing treats.

Then both did a questionable mistake...

The first half of that episode my eyes were nearly bleeding for a reason!

Though that whole ordeal with collecting arrows and Cao Cao so easily falling for it was just dumb. I can understand making tactical mistakes due to pressure and so forth, but several boats with bushels on them and just shooting regular arrows, made me shake myheas in disbelief.

Also, I give most credit to Zhou Yu during Red Cliffe. Zhuge Liang was impressive as well, but Yu did most of the acts IIRC (also that wind thing Kongming did was just dumb).

After Red Cliff the series goes to Liu-Wu rivalry and how Liu Bei is geting some power for several episodes. Its military expeditions are cool, just like Lu Su. Not much Cao in these episodes.

I really like that sad/despair theme and the romantic theme of this series. But I can't find them. Anyone knows links for them?

Yeah, after episode 45+ (or something) the focus on Cao Cao starts to dwindle in favor of other characters.

As for Cao Pi:

This game ate up SO much of my time back in the day. The Custom characters were great.

Romance_of_the_Three_Kingdoms_VII_US_fro

I wish there were more games like that one. The DW: Empires spin-offs gloss over the actual strategy aspects.
