I should have posted my new gif sooner.

 

Anyway my next review will be after I finish episode 85.

 

Right now (Episodes 75-85) my top 5 characters are:

 

Lu Xun

Cao Pi

Sun Quan

Last Han Emperor had a dramatic death and it was touching. He didn't have much power to begin with, actually I think he was better than Mediocre, but became the emperor at the wrong time (age) and it ruined everything for him. He was the most unfortunate...

 

Zhang Fei's death was brought by himself. I didn't pity him.

 

Cao Pi was an unfortunate ruler. Despite Sima Yi call him sagacious he couldn't do much glory for Wei and his death was sad too. I almost cried.

 

Liu-Sun war spoilers:

Liu-Sun war was a difficult one. Liu Bei should have listened to the advise of Zhuge Liang and also used better advisers on the front line. Lu Xun did the best and I like his style of commanding. He achieved those victories in age 27. As a 27 years old he is a example for me now!

Liu Bei had a tragic end (going to win, but losing almost everything) and I cried for a few minutes for his death too. Despite he being a flawed character and not being the greatest strategist he was a likeable character and I can't forget his kind and merciful personality.

 

The fate of the Realm spoilers:

At first Liu Shang was a bad joke. But at least he listens to Zhuge Liang and is kind which make the Shu an OK state for now. Cao Rui on the contrary looks decisive and charismatic. But he isn't and without Sima Yi he screws up.

 

It seems all three sides are in bad shortage of good generals in post-episode-80 Three Kingdoms. Wei Yan is one of the few likeable Generals who's still kicking. The remnant of Cao generals are wussies. They can't make any good effort. I kinda missed what happened to Cao Ren. And Ma Su screwed up everything...

 

I know The Jin dynasty will be created by Sima Clan, I think the other son of Sima Yi pacifies the realm... which I assume won't happen in the series (the several episodes remained).

 

Zhuge Liang, Sima Yi and his son, Sun Quan and Lu Xun are the most reasonable excellencies now.

 

So it's been like this till Episode 89.

Have to agree on Cao Pi and Liu Bei passing. While not the most efficient of military leaders but still more than capable rulers, they were good characters on their own and it really hit home in how their pride ended up being both of their downfall. 

 

Yeah, the primary cast are basically dying left and right at this stage.

So at last it's finished.

 

the Episode 89-93 were mostly about the war between Sima Yi and Zhuge Liang as "TaDuDo"s.

It seems heavens really wanted Han Empire to set. Even the most genius of the millennium couldn't possibly win with all those misfortunes.

I can't judge him about executing Wei Yan though. His character was likeable but was kinda unreadable and he could be a great commander.. would he misuse his power? I don't know.

I love How Kongming invented one wheel cart, Chu Ko Nu and new tactics for war.

 

Episode 94 and 95:

After the last Shu ambush, war actually ceased and Sima Yi resigned from power to follow his schemes carefully. His late wife's death was a sinister move, he could have pursued the power some other way.

I had a good feeling about Sima Zhao. At the closure the narrator says how Sima Zhao and the little Sima Yan defeated Shu, Wu and usurped Wei.

Good fate for China under Sima (Jin) dynasty.

 

I'm looking forward to read Chinese History as a whole once my Term's exams are done.

Watching episode 5 now and really liking how the show deal with honor, respect and the social skills required to actually be a figure of importance. That and all the intrigues, loooooove!

I am quite certain the show will rise high on your list, considering how much it deals in aspects that you tend to enjoy when it comes to series like these.

Most likely. Even the ridiculous duels are amusing soly from how ridiculous they are. It's a quirk I can like due to the contrast it offer from the serious dialogue.

lol yeah, there are some factors that feels rather quirky. But if you manage to overlook them, or even find enjoyment in them, then more power to you.

You'll also have to deal with certain reused in cinematics and scenes (I think the "army firing arrow volleys" is the most used one in the show) but they are far in between IIRC. But other than that, excellent all the way through. Hardly ever stumbles in quality in major ways.

Yellow Turbans are my favorite.

Cao Cao was definitely ruthless, to say the least. The show in question portrays this on several cases. But my admiration towards him stems from his skill as a politician and a military leader, the vision he had for the era and the means he used to perfect it. The dude was certainly a bastard, but a magnificent one.

But do start the show. There are plenty of other great characters in it.

Most likely. Even the ridiculous duels are amusing soly from how ridiculous they are. It's a quirk I can like due to the contrast it offer from the serious dialogue. 

The duels improve in the show gradually. The actors aren't Jet Li (rookies!), so they can't learn all the awesome moves. So the director is trying his best with actors and camera to perform pseudo-fighting to look real. They definitely reached to a level of believable-ness in the series at some point.
