I hope the news I've read is wrong, being that the next patch highlight, out of all the player feedback, is to be able to go back to the player creation screen and change our characters appearance?  If that is so then you can take that patch and stick it you know where.

This was a feature a huge number of us requested. Just because it's not a feature you want doesn't mean it isn't a wanted feature.

I read it and understood it.  The article says that the next patch will "mainly" focus on single-player campaign and gameplay issues.  Some multiplayer issues may be worked on, and the face creator is a feature they're looking into incorporating into the game at some point in time so players can go back and change it anytime they want.

As someone who has - fortunately - experienced few significant bugs, this would enhance my experience of the game more than pretty much anything else at this point. (I also want a storage chest, which should also have been in the game at launch, IMHO.)

Which isn't to say that they shouldn't also fix bugs, but I'm happy to hear we might be getting this sooner rather than later.

The game’s executive producer merely confirmed that it is nearly done, and that they will release additional information on the patch once they know exactly what it will contain.

Er. Do you see it too?
It is 'nearly done' and 'they don't know exactly what it will contain' at the same time?

Just... Wow.

What annoys me more is the fact that we get these news on Twitter and third party sites but here, in the official forum... we get nothing.

Actually, this makes sense. A patch is a whole bunch of different fixes worked on by different people. Some of it's mission-critical, and the patch won't go out until the critical bits are ready. Other bits are optional. Whatever's ready to go when the critical bits are ready to go gets into the patch. Other stuff waits for the next patch, or gets cut.

I'd say, don't worry too much. I mean I don't know what exactly Bioware is trying to do with this patch, but I'd say that implementing another call to the character creator cannot be world-shatteringly complex. I'm still somewhat hopeful that BW fixes the many more important issues.

That said, I do feel a bit disheartened by the lack of mention of PC controls... =/

Alright let's get back to school.

There's a thing called planning. Let's say you're making bricks for sell.

Before you start the production process you plan how much do you want them produced. Let's say 100. Once you hit 80 of them you can say "it's nearly done!" and grab a beer.

How could you say that something is "nearly done" if you don't have any idea how much of fixes are going to be in a patch, eh?

because not including something (whatever it is: pretty hair styles, pc controls, player appearance or tactical camera fixes) in the patch will result in yet another backlash.

but i agree, the info on issues addressed by patch should be there... somewhere. for people to look at it, shake their heads and move on or smile with happiness and enter anticipation state.

Could you post a link to the news then?

Last news on bioware.com are from August 26th, 2014.

Last blog post is about what music they listened to while making the game.

Last news about a patch in the forum were for patch 2.

dragonage.com doesn't have news either.

Sooooo... where are those news on the BioWare website?

Firstly Mark said they would release details once they had 'locked it down' the article paraphrased.

Secondly, it makes sense that they wouldn't want to release details too early.

Let's say they included a fix to the tactical camera, to make it work better in places with low ceilings. They've worked on it, they tell everyone it's going to be in the patch but then late in the game they discover that it causes weird clipping or some other issues, so they decide to pull it for now and work on it more.

Fans would be outraged 'BioWare lied to us AGAIN!' etc

Or they could be working on a number of fixes for the patch but are not sure if all of them will be completed within the deadline they set for themselves, so they don't want to announce the features of the patch until they know what will be ready for it.

As for the OP - you really should read the article you posted, it doesn't say the focus of the patch will be the ability to change your appearance.  It says it is something that BioWare have confirmed they are working on.

Even if it wasn't Bieber it's still valuable. Now I know which exact developers are responsible for talentless writing.

Thanks a lot.

So again you suppose developers don't have a plan to start with? Such a great team in such a great product makes things on occasion without a list?
I think I'm giving them way more credit than you do :)

Fix male elves broken tiny arms and skinny chest plz :)

Fix the broken arms, the skinniness is good for elves so doesn't need fixing. Maybe adjust from the elbow down, make the forearm slightly smaller instead of larger and properly bend towards the body instead of away. I like how there's a male identity for once that isn't all huffed up and instead tends towards pretty. =]

Oh and also Bioware, please think of allowing characters to use either male or female stance in CC, and remove gender restriction on armor! I very much prefer the (female) version of Dalish Scout Armor and am incredibly disappointed there's a gender attached to it.

Funnily enough, the transparency with which Blizzard always announces their patches and the botches to the patches never bothered anybody. Soooooo... no, it doesn't stand to logic, or is expected. There's no reason for secrecy at all. Unless they just aren't working on things fans are screaming for.

Of course developers have a plan to begin with but plans change.

I'm an Instructional Designer, so I design training material.

I'll start out with a list of things that I need to include in the training, but due to time constraints or issues when the material is tested, some times things need to be taken out or reworked.

For example, maybe an game I designed doesn't get the message across properly or is too difficult or doesn't work with the rest of the training once it's put all together etc

So I'm sure BioWare have a list of things due for Patch 3 BUT they could come across unforeseen issues that mean some of those features get pushed out or reworked, so they don't want to release the features to the public until they know 100% want will make it into the patch.

Planning is essential but plans are useless - Eisenhower
