I am also a fan of the war table. I always read and choose a different option depending on the character I am roleplaying; their personality shapes the option they go with. Reading the missions and some of the responses of the advisers is entertaining. I don't skip reading them at all.
Does Anybody Actually Read The War Table Missions?

There is also some good humor. The leader of my Qunari's former merc company always sends requests along for example. I love him talking about losing Ashaad and Ashaad 2 and now he is running out of Ashaads.
The Qunari mercenary band is the single greatest thing in existence.
P.P.S. If you are dead then ignore this.

I read them all. I try to choose different advisers every playthrough I do (except for the Grey Warden mission, where I must make sure they survive)
but normally I find Leliana's methods are the best so if in doubt I pick her.

I do and I find I tend to use Leliana a lot as I prefer subtlety over force and diplomacy.

Cullen:"If you squint, lake calenhad is shaped like a bunny"
Jose:"Now is not the time to...."
Leliana: "Ooooh...I can see it"
Damn it! To this day I have still not heard this banter!

I read them the text can be quite funny depending on who you choose. I told Cullen to show diplomats the breach at Haven - apparently they loved it.

Well, I knew from the beginning (from tutorial maybe?) that the outcomes are different, depending on who's responsible for the mission.
I do read them and I change the advisors not just for variety sake, but also according to the Inquisitor I RP at the time. Plus, it's a lot of fun. Alistair's letters, for example. Or some of Cullen comments. Not to mention, I actually feel that I have an army I can send all over Ferelden and Orlais ![]()

Yes, I find that they add a lot in term of storytelling. But then I 'm the type who reads ALL codex entries an such.

I read them if the mission made me care. Most did but there were some exceptions.

Despite the teeny-tiny text, I read them all. As others have mentioned, it lets you see the advisers' personalities and gives you more role-playing opportunities. Some of the suggestions make me wish for an Inquisitor reaction wheel.
Leliana, what the **** were you smoking that you thought suggesting "Let's send the halla as a sign of Dalish submission to the Orlesians" was going to go over well with Lavellan?

If war table decisions had a more lasting impact or actually altered story events in any way, shape, or form...I'd do them. But as it is, they don't. So they're useless to me other than as an influence and gold boost (because let's face it, getting useful equipment from the war table is less likely than getting the busted trophies in Origin - thanks for that, by the way.)

about the war table mission, there is a list or a solution that show the outcome of each mission given a specific choice. I cannot nail a playthrough without doing some mistakes
http://dragonage.wik.../wiki/War_table
No, I didn't read war-table missions after the first few. The reason I stopped reading them? Because this game is already bogged down with far too many sidequests and war table missions take time. There is no way around that. So those 15 hour missions? That's 15 hours I can't use Josephine, but I need Josephine to do all of these other smaller, specific missions. Ok, I'm sending Cullen on a 17 hour mission to better utilize Josephine. Etc. etc.

Eh. Some have rather dire consequences if you pick the wrong advisor (dead Wardens, dead Dalish clan, among others), other give you schematics you can't otherwise get if you pick the right one (best example is probably the missions you get from sacrificing the chargers, if you pick the right options you get a masterwork staff that is impossible to get otherwise)

Yeah I read them. I tried to focus on the ones that sounded more important in terms of keeping people safe, for example Darkspawn or Venatori attacks. And I tried to think about whether I wanted to be aggressive, sneaky or diplomatic. If my preferred option was busy, I waited for them to become available.
I thought maybe some of these decisions might contribute towards a Mass Effect 2 style final mission where my choices affected who lived and who died. Or perhaps getting the support of certain factions might help me in an epic final battle.
Silly me.
Heres a thought....stop comparing the franchises. They Are NOT meant to be the same.

But are they consequences that I actually feel? So far, I'm at 120 hours (I know, I know "finish the game") but I haven't seen anything dire occur due to my choices at the war table. In fact, when my inquisitor managed to get Bull to let his chargers die, I got the masterwork staff without an issue or anything even remotely complicated.
The war table is underwhelming for this reason.

Supposedly your choices at the War Table will determine the overall sentiment of Thedas has towards the Inquisition (displayed in the epilogue).

I like the war table missions. It's like they expanded more on Mass Effect 3's War Assets Terminal. Stuff you did in prior games do show up or characters you recruited pop up to ask for help. They could've done way more though in that respect.

Meaningless small talk, most of the time not even funny or informative. They were making noise and distracting me.
Wow! That's a bit grim.

There's not a big sign saying 'Oh by the way! Click me for DAMP Characters!' or anything like that. You'd have to pick the right options and know their actual names when you spot them. Took me a couple playthroughs before I caught onto it.
So far, I've only found Belinda Darrow (the Templar) hidden away in Maevaris' plotline. She's one of the templars who is sent to Tevinter if you choose that option. And Korbin (the Legionnaire) is in 'The College of Magi.' I want to say it's the College in Cumberland missions, but I'm not 100% on that. Tamar (the Reaver) is also mentioned...I think maybe in the mission where you can ambush the King of Nevarra's Venatori advisor? Rion (the Elementalist) is in the 'Investigate the Ruins of the Temple of Sacred Ashes' plotline. Cullen options, all.
I seem to recall Argent (the Assassin) being mentioned in a Leliana mission. Not sure which one, though. Maybe stealing the Liberalum? I'll have to comb my screenshots folder. I started snapping pictures when I found one. But that's only 5/12, so I do wonder if there aren't more out there.
Edit: Korbin is also in the 'Arl of Redcliffe,' Cullen option.
Cillian (the Arcane Warrior in DAMP) is the one who does translations for you.

Yes, I treat them as mini puzzles and role-play opportunity's. I've seen a lot of people complain they are pointless but I rather like them.
I think its a great way to give you the sense of controlling a large organisation without being a resource sink.
