I really do want to. Dragon Age II is, in many ways, my favourite in the series. But after seeing how things turn out, I just can’t go back and replay it. The Mage/Templar war being so insignificant, Corypheus being a total pushover, and Hawke getting hardcore sidelined...

It's now like a TV show that has a new protagonist and archplot retconned mid season. Makes Dragon Age II feel really hollow and wasted.

Anyone else feeling this, or is it just me?

DAO is way better, how on earth is DA2 your favorite?  DAI sucked, you had choices that mattered in DAO and DA2. DAI has zero replayability.  I think the real reason you don't want to replay DA2 or DAO is because you'll understand how much DAI actually sucks.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that you've been spoiled?

so some events that left you in awe and with questions now hold less gravitas with you because they've been answered and some of those answers were lackluster?

But I don't truly know because I never played DA2. I heard it was bad, maybe that's why you can't replay it.

I could go back and play it, mainly for Hawke and a few companions. DA2's vanilla story is a mediocre mess --but Hawkes personal story is rather compelling. So much pain, and so much responsibility.

I would rather play DA2 again than either of the others.

This game makes it hard for me to revisit either game, because I'm silly like that.

I loved DA2 it is definitely my favorite. I don't know if I can replay it again, at least for a while, though for a very different reason. I already have my perfect Hawke and perfect story. It feels done, complete.

I enjoyed DAI but I can see what you mean. Corypheus especially; he was interesting but his implementation left something to be desired. He felt impotent after Haven. Given DA2, I was also surprised how quickly the mage/Templar war was resolved.

For what it's worth, DAI has only been out 2 months, give it some time. DLC is coming. I'm hoping it will resolve some issues for me, I hope it will for you too. If not, then DA2's characters and their personal stories still shine, even if part of their world history felt like it fizzled a bit later. Chin up. :)

I felt like that back in 2011. Story and characters did nothing for me...well, nothing good anyway. I just didn't enjoy being the therapist of Kirkwall.

I haven't played DA2 yet all the way through! I am going to though, currently playing Origins. Inquisition has made me want to see the whole story and more :)
In my first DA:I I had default set for a lot so my choices was Stroud who I have never met before and Hawke. Rather then sending Hawke which would have made Varric sad I sent Stroud - this had no meaning for me. In my next play through when I set all my choices correctly it will be Alistair and Hawke. This will be a far more difficult choice. :s

I can´t replay DAI, it is such a chore. I´m planning to do a DAO replay though with DA2 after it.

you had choices that mattered in DAO

Oh? Would you give us some? I mean those that mattered more than

- picking the ruler of Orlais (becoming one is kinda  an option)

- deciding which way the Mage\Templar conflict takes

- being involved in selecting the new Divine(equals to deciding what becomes of Chantry, Mages, Templars and Seekers included)?

- settling things between Orlais +Ferelden (or allowing them to fight another war)

- ...

Nah i cant play DA:i as 2 had a lot better combat which worked, proper tactics etc etc. Their latest game is a monstrosity of trying to please tactical and action combat and nothing works. I cant see enemy stats cause they decided to hide it in another mode. When the so called arpg sucks at action and is barely a rpg then im sorry its a bad game.

All hypothetical future choices which will not have any consequence. C&C should always be within the confines of a game so you can actually interact with a choices's consequence. If you choose to call the so called illusion of choice as actual choice then i suggest you play better games which actually give you proper C&C.

The only proper C&C in this game was mage vs templar and that too was soo bloody minor, YAY you have 4 templars instead of 4 mages in a cutscene but no changes other wise. No matter who rules Orlais you still have your imaginary army which never appears.

So please stop trying to pretend this game has any actual choices other than all hinted for future which will never materialize as these regions will never be ever visited since accommodating their illusionary choices will literally break any sense of proper continuity.

It's the opposite for me.
I have very little time to play these days, yet I am considering a marathon, starting from Origins, with all the expansions.

Considering I rarely re-play games, and I already have multiple playthroughs of each Dragon Age game, this is crazy.

DAO and DA2 make you smile like a nice plate of linguini with white clam sauce, DAI is like spaghetti O's bland and canned

I can't play DA2 because the controls feel too weird.

Literally tried the prologue a week ago and I was just entirely "THIS IS WEIRD AND IT NEEDS TO STOP BEING WEIRD."

Considered replaying the entire series from the beginning, but will have to wait a while. : /

I have the opposite problem, I can't play Inquisition because the combat mechanics and controls are so much worse than DA2.

Same here, Say what you will about 2 but its combat was a LOT better and lot less restrictive than what we got in DA:I.

I barely remember what happened in DA:O or DA:2, hell I didn't even realize Cullen was in the first two games, that's about how much attention I paid to either. Don't get me wrong, I loved Origins at the time, but this was years ago. I kept telling myself I'd go back because I never played the witch hunt dlc, finished awakening, or did Leliana's song. By the time they came out, I was so burnt on having played origins so much, plus other games had come by that took my attention away. I never played DA:2's dlc either. I did feel like I was missing a bit and wanted to go back but ughh since my save games are long gone, I really really really don't feel like drudging through those titles.

I couldn't even finish it, much less go back to it just to... NOT finish it again. The only thing DA2 did better was hair.

I hear Bioware collects data on player games. I want Bioware to know that while in the Fade I kill Hawke in every.single.playthrough. In favor of Alistair. In favor of Loghain. In favor of Stroud.

That's pretty much what I did when the release date was approaching. But I've decided to save full series runs for when the next game is released. By then, it would feel a bit fresher for having been away from it so long. After all, absence makes the heart grow fonder or whatever.

I would hardly call DA2 linguini with white clam sauce. The last 1/3 of the game goes into auto-pilot. Difference is (boring or not) the Inquisitor gets **** done, while Hawke half-asses his way to victory.
