I have bought mass effect 3 (DVD) any advice on which DLC to get. I read about the bad ending so which DLC do i need to get to have  a better ending.

First off, there is a free DLC that does a lot to fix some of the problems people had with the ending: Extended Cut. So be sure to get that. Also, the Leviathan DLC provides a lot of foreshadowing of the ending, so I would get that. (Note: Leviathan was probably created after the ending controversy to try to better justify the ending.) The "From Ashes" DLC may be helpful as well. The Citadel DLC will give you a last chance to have a get together with all you virtual friends. Most people like it because of that.

All the story related DLCs are worth getting and adds to the experience. I am not sure if the Extended Cut is still available to download for free, but that is a must for a marginally expanded ending.

If you only buy 1 DLC, and you have played the previous games, then definitely buy Citadel DLC. It helps soothes the pain.

That said ME3 is a good game despite of the community's division about its ending. It's my first Bioware game and now I play everything they make...

The Extended Cut is free and fixes only a few issues with the ending, but it is still a fix. So be sure to get that.

As for the other DLC....depends on your budget. Here is my personal priority list...

1. From Ashes. DO NOT play without it. Just pretend it says "Free" instead of those 10 bucks.

2. Leviathan. Adds additional backstory, and a pretty awesome conversation at the end.

3. Omega. Best DLC next to the Citadel.

4. The Citadel. Only if you are a hardcore fan. Otherwise you can skip it.

Extended Cut, Leviathan and From Ashes are no-brainers.

You should try the ending with those three installed. Some liked it, so it might not be as bad as you think. If it is, get Citadel, it'll make you feel better.

Personally, I'd get Citadel, and Omega either way, but if you're prioritising.....

Like many internet controversies the ending hate is way overblown, tons of us liked it fine. Extended cut is free though so no reason not to get it, and like others say all the story DLC is good.

before downloading the extended cut, play the game with the original ending, then downlaod the extended cut.

For dlc's. From Ashes>Leviathan>Citadel>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Omega

I won't recommend that. Play with EC and then look up the originals on YouTube if you wish

The most essential DLC I believe is the extended cut for further explanation of the endings. It makes them tolerable, but just barely (imo). As for the other DLCs, I have Leviathan, Omega and Citadel...and I don't regret buying them. I'd advise getting Leviathan if you want to know more about the lore of ME3. Omega is very enjoyable if you like Aria (I do)...and the Citadel DLC is great as long as you can take it for what it is: blatant fanservice.

Extended Cut for the Clarification + it's free

From Ashes adds a Squadmate and various Conversations aboard the ship and Missions. Comes with one Weapon and 1 new set of outfit for Squadmates... Also, the Squadmate has a lot to offer.

Citadel DLC, only if you want some time with your crew and for the laughs. Good balance between Combat and Story.(Mostly Focused on Story) and a Must have for the Hardcore Mass Effect Players

If you liked Aria T'Loak in ME2, then grab Omega DLC. But is worth mentioning that you WON'T get a New Hub. Or even something, except for the numbers, that change...

And Leviathan is for someone that wants to understand more the Reapers.

why?

To see what the ending was before the extended cut was released and why folks were upset/frustrated and whatever other word that can fit.

Extended Cut draws smiley faces on what it a terrible ending.  It's still terrible, it just has smiley faces on it now.  But hey, it's free.

Leviathan retroactively forshadows said terrible ending for the low, low price of ten bucks <_<

From Ashes does nothing with the ending, but gives you a new companion many people find entertaining.

Omega lets you team up with Aria T'Loak from ME2 on an extended side quest.  Expensive, but not as terrible a DLC as some make it out to be.

Cidadel is a must-have.  It's a welcome break from the oppressive gloom and despair that hangs over ME3 like a miasma.

Op, keep in mind that the people posting in these forms are not representative of the average fan. Probably most of the people you see complaining here after all this time represent the bitterest most hopeless five percent of "fans", many of us normal fans can't be bothered to compulsively lurk the forums posting hate day after day for the game that they're "fans" of. Play it and decide for yourself, that's all that should matter.

The 'average' fan doesn't pick up DLC to begin with, as evidenced by the sales figures for the main game compared to the downloads for the DLC.

Re an earlier point that you get nothing from Omega - don't you pick up the 'Flare' and 'Lash' biotic abilities? Could be wrong but I thought you got those through Omega?

The OP did ask what DLCs could "improve the endings", so no, Omega doesn't add anything.

You don't even get Omega as a Hub. Or even Aria disappearing or something else that can impact ME3 Galaxy... Just Numbers! War Asset Numbers, Flare, Lash and some Weapon Mods for 1200 Points. The voice Acting could be much better, the visuals, sure, were great, but I didn't pay a DLC for the Visuals. And then there is the lack of emotion in the voice of Aria, by just repeating the same line over and over: "I'm back your f.ckers"

^^ under that qualification, I'd agree. Doesn't add anything to the ending you're right.

On its own merits - I have mixed feelings about Omega. The lack of a hub, the lack of squadmates, the price etc. but then, I don't actually mind it when I play it.

Don't get me wrong, in terms of all the DLC it's the one I'd pick up last, but I probably would still pick it up. Eventually.

Use the trick of going to the origin store in the browser while using a proxy like hola, if I tell it I'm in Uzbekistan instead of the USA I get almost half off, makes up for lack of DLC sales on PC.

Here's what you do TC.  You play through the game normally.  Then when you reach Priority Earth YOU STOP COLD TURKEY.   Just stop.  Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars.  Just stop progressing through the game.  If you have to know what happens during that last mission, YOUTUBE it.  But don't youtube the endings.  Just the mission and the character interactions.

After steps 1 and 2, you download Citadel DLC.  Play through that.  Bam.  That's the ending.  Just go with it.  Thank me later.

I actually enjoyed the Citadell DLC the most.

Sure if doesn't fit into the story, galaxy wide war, all life faces extinction .. lets party!

Still I enjoyed it because I liked the characters and it was a nice little tribute.

Here's my suggestion: Go play Saint's Row IV instead. Trust me, you'll be surprised how well it aligns with ME2.

The game starts off with a "suicide mission" with your crew, you end up becoming president, Keith David is your VP(i.e. the voice of Admiral Anderson), aliens invade Earth, you get a spaceship, loyalty missions with crewmates, blah, blah, blah, save mankind while the "The Touch" is playing, sentient Time Traveling-British-Velocirapters DLC, you save Christmas from the machines....yeah alot of weird s*** happens, but dammit it some how fits.

OR

Just play up until Priority:Earth, then do the DLC missions(in order), then read about Drew Karpyshyn's "Dark Energy" plotline that EA dropped, get pissed, then play Saint's Row IV.
