Ok, by your own logic, what exactly does Briala do beyond being Celene's bed warmer and satisfying her until she decides to throw the elves a bone or two? Why should Briala be there if all she will do is use sex to influence the Empress?

Briala and Celene do genuinely love each other, no matter what happened. They are both dysfunctional, crazy killers and they are perfect for each other. They understand each other, they understand how cruel the world is and they do their best to better their nation and Briala reminds Celene that bettering the nation also includes the elves. And Celene will definitely recognize the value of elves once they become her couriers in the eluvians.

Cassandra "greatly approved" when I reunited Celene and Briala. She just doesn't want Celene to rule alone.

Cassandra Greatly Approved that just because she is a hopeless romantic, let's be honest haha :D.

But would he torture her, though? If so, he is a huge hypocrite.Would she speak?Your plan is haphazard while Celene/Briala is much more stable.

Even if so, elves would not support Gaspard and elves have a much easier time traveling the eluvians.Their blood or whatnot gives them a plethora of benefits.

And Gaspard would use it for wars, Celene would use it for the economy and travel.

Everyone talks eventually.

As for whether he would do it, I haven't read TME recently do, I don't particularly remember the terms regarding torture. I do know Gaspard always said "honor does not preclude tactics."

As for whether the elves will help him, throw them a couple of sovereigns and they'll kill each for the opportunity.

Finally, while Gaspard is a militarily minded man, it's not like he has a one track mind. you don't need to be a patron of the arts to understand something like "we can send products through here just as easily as soldiers and without risking being attacked by thieves."

Exactly. I wonder why I can't ask Cass or Cullen what happens after Cory is beaten if Gaspard rules? Seems they support him because he is military minded to fight Cory but I can't say what happens next? Seems like supporting Gaspard is just a short-term solution. Celene is best if you are thinking long-term.

This could especially work in the case where you as the Inquisitor is known for your military force and Celene depends on you in the epilogue.

It's really pity that game just becomes roaming game abruptly after the Cory fight, they could have added at least something in the final Ball conversations.

Yes. Because when you tell Briala you want an alliance, she dissaproves.

Its really just the romantic part.

She also greatly approves if you let Celene die and make Gaspard emperor without Briala.

There are other bards in Orlais that don't have an history of betraying their empress and nation.

Oh, he switches the honor/tactics switch in his mind every now and then when he sees fit.For example he put his chevalier honor ahead of tactics when he killed Remache.

You think they would stay loyal to him once they enter the eluvians and have all the power then? You must be joking.

Not as good as her. You want to know why Celene was empress for 20 years? Because of that pretty brown french elf.

Chevaliers, by their code, cannot condone or conduct torture... on nobles. The rule would not apply to Briala.

To be fair, Briala only came back to Celene when she was 20. She ran away after her parent's murder at 13/14 (since Patrick Weekes gave an estimate of her age being 33/34 in TME on his twitter).

So if you do the math Celene ruled Orlais "on her own" from 16 to 22 (I quote it because every emperor/empress has councellors to help them, Gaspard even complains about them if you put him on the throne).

Chevaliers, by their code, cannot condone or conduct torture... on nobles. The rule would not apply to Briala.

This, he explicitly tells it to Pierre in TME.

So is putting your personal feelings for servant above your duty as empress and rejecting a marrage that would have prevented civil war.

I wouldn't say it was solely because of Briala that Celene remained Empress for 20 years, but she was a major factor in why Celene did stay Empress for so long.  A more successful ruler has people he/she can count on to have their back and help cover their weaknesses.

Well, if she is that dependant on Briala, then she shouldn't be empress in the first place.

Long live Gaspard!

Not so much getting cowed as accepting an advantageous political marrage that kills 2 birds with one stone.
