So I've completed all the quests in the Hinterlands, including the "Trouble With Wolves" and "Farmland Security" and I had Cassandra in my party when I turned in the quests and talked to Dennet which I heard is supposed to give me a special option. When that didn't work I put Cassandra, Dorian, and Vivienne in the party and still nothing

 

 

Is he just bugged? The only thing I haven't done yet is gotten the history perk which I heard is also a way to get the special option to get him join, but from everything I've read having those certain party members there when you talk to him is supposed to do it. 

 

I know he's not a big part of the game but i'm level 14 and still only have one mount and I'd really hoped to get all the mounts.

To shake loose a bug, try :

 

porting to another map and back again

quick save, exit game and go to main menu, load the QS

repair the game

The farmland security quest, did you go back to the map/board thing where you can use inquisition points? you do need to use points to get Cullen to build the towers. I know it took me a while to figure that out after a while, idk if you did or didn't but if you didn't then this may be why. If you do have everything done then i'd follow what the guy abouve said^^^ reload a save or exit area and return and maybe it'll be fixed.

This held me up for a while, too.

Yes and not only do you need to build the towers from the council room, you have to wait for them to actually finish and return to the council and get the report i believe. That's what held me up, I assumed that once i got the thing started, I was set until i stopped playing for the night, came back the next day, got the message that Cullen was done, got the report from Haven, THEN I was finally able to get dennet to join. Hopefully that's all that's preventing you from getting him.

If your Inquisitor can not convince Dennet then the special by having Cassandra speak to him should. Only other farm quest around there is rescuing Druffie the druffalo, which you might accidently kill if you approach him before taking the quest and aoe splash hits him from fighting wolves. And then there is the quest chain you get from Dennet's daughter for horse racing. I am thinking there is another quest to take on the farm dealing with some dead man's family or what-not.

There're only two quests linked to Dennet's agreement to supply horses; the wolves and farmland security. Once these are done, he pretty much can be persuaded to join.

 

The other quests are unrelated but it wouldn't hurt to gain some influence by finishing some crossroad quests; ten ram meat and clearing out the rogue mages and templars.

 

Druffy's pretty hard to kill unless your PC is over level. The delivery of a letter from a dead farmhand only comes after you're capable of removing a level 12 rift.

If the the watchtowers line is not completed you will not have "inform Brom that the watchtowers have been built" in completed quests.

 

You did get your pony and do the 3 races, those are fun and list in the finished quests with Dennet. I doubt you can recruit him without that

You don't have to do the races to recruit Dennett.
