If this game was designed for me personally I would have sent Bioware back to the drawing board.
Different strokes for different folkes.
I survive, don't spend 4 hours thru this either.

Awwww snappity! Limbs!
Well, I did a 6 hour story-only playthrough (later a 4 hours one), I spent like one hourand a half in WEWH and that because I got 27/30 secret, 9/10 halla statues and other useless things, the save with 4 hours was mainly because I was more straightforward in this mission, you can finish it in like 30 minutes (didn't really count but was fast)
So... how can you spend 4 hours in it? ._."
Same with what makes a quest good and enjoyable for someone.
Go figure.

You guys seem really obsessed with the amount of time that I spent on this mission. Go figure. Gotta go fast, right?
I don't know who you are.

Limbs, you are a crack up. ![]()
Now BioWare, I haven't said much of anything about DA:I (or much about anything at all since quitting ME3MP in...August or something), but I have to say something about this.
Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts is a stupid mission. And on top of it being all around awful and boring, it offers very little story-wise, rewards-wise, or time-wise. As a result, this mission is a 4 hour (at minimum) filler episode from Lifestyles of the Rich & The Famous.
Hope any and all DLC you plan are nothing like this (aka boring) and also hope this is not a sign of things to come.
Thanks for your time.
When I played it the first time, this was my very thought "What in the world did I just play? Goodness boring". Now after four play-throughs I can say this mission is one of my favourites in the game(next to fighting dragons).
...if perfomed by a female Dwarf. Male Dwarf is an option too, but bit less ridiculous.
One of my top-most issues with this mission is that I've been playing it as a stealthy-assasin rogue with a masterlock perk. Why would I need a f*ing key into the servant quarters? Why do I need to look for 'gossip' spots (if I'm supposed to stand behind, quiet and unseen)? Why can't I use the Hawke's MotA trick (knock the guard off and move along)?
And my 100% top favourite moment is when the Inquisitor climbs up the garden fence. In front of all those people around the fountain. 'Oh, don't mind me, enjoy the music, I'll be back in a moment!'
Yeah, that was so dumb. The first time I played I was sure I'd have to somehow clear all the people out of the garden before I could climb up there (like you would in any other game with a goal like this) or at least get massive court disapproval. But no. I got court disapproval for standing on a couch but not for climbing the garden trellis in front of everyone.
Hun, I spent 7 hours on this mission and it was awesome. I outplayed Gaspard, Celene and Briala and they all work for the Inquisition now.
If you were in a hurry to smash buttons it must have been quite annoying.

Mash buttons?
You must be playing on casual, casual.

Nightmare
Irrelevant as you just disregarded most of the game as button mashing. GG.

I jumped off the banister in the ballroom and lost about 15 points of court approval, that's when I threw in the towel and quit the mission.

You didn't understand. From your post I got that you're that sort of player that has no patience for talking and plot and basically wants to kill things. 4 hours of not doing that must have been hard.

The fact that you don't understand how incorrect you are is really something else.
Like, honestly, how can you proclaim to know anyone from a single post they've made? I could go on to tell you something about me but something tells me you'd gloss over it and be like "lol tl;dr no one cares," so I digress.

That was another thing I found annoying. Our "outplaying" required no brainwork or mystery solving, etc... It was just "follow the markers to the clues laying out in the open or collect statues laying out in the open to open doors."
I agree with Limbs, the mission is too stretched out and ultimatively too boring.
It might be okay the first time you play it, but I shudder at the thought having to go through all this nonsense again in a second playthrough. And I already played a Qunari in my first playthrough, so the "hardest" race for that mission is out of the way.
It'll be a great gaping filler from now on, regardless of what type of character I'm playing.
P.S.: I'm so glad BSN hasn't changed one slight bit since I last checked here.

Who?

He never had a clear user name that stuck.
I just don't like how the secondary protagonist Florianne is treated in this mission. It's rather depressing.

This mission was fine except for the dumb limited halla mechanic and my approval falling in certain areas. Between those two, basically I'm getting *punished* for exploring which is just WTF in a roleplaying game that's trying to be more open world.

That's kind of a gross generalization that's also fairly insulting.
Some people aren't into politics, or at least game politics. They don't care about "The Game," or nobles, families, and back stabbings. They don't want to talk with Scribbles about how to outmaneuver the latest pompous Duke. While not always, for many the preferred focus is on the action; overt and blatant instead of subtle and quiet.
A term for this used by some is the "casual gamer." Your mileage may vary as to whether you agree.
Oh come on. Finally, finally, they try something new and imaginative, something different from the usual "go there and slay monsters" and apparently it's crap?
I guess most people really do want the same things over and over again.
I thought the mission was marvelous. The court approval was an interesting mechanic twist (albeit very easy to unhinge and not impactful enough maybe). Finally some interaction between dialogue and gameplay. Finally a way to actually screw up in dialogue, rather than choosing between 3-6 good options. You even get little assignments on the side, which for once are actually optional and not forever part of your ever daunting quest log, so exploring the environment actually works for once.
Also, what do you mean OP, when you say the mission didn't bring anything "story-wise, rewards-wise or time-wise"? First of all, what is "time-wise"? Second, it had a good story with all the court intrigue and all the different factions and parties. Plus, you get a powerful new ally and btw you choose the future of Orlais, so I wouldn't call it nothing. Oh, and besides your team, you even see your advisers in the field for once. Rewards-wise, you get heaps of equipment, now missions and an arcane adviser. What more did you want exactly? An Eluvian perhaps? ... oh wait.
God knows I usually don't spare with criticism and I will admit, that the mission is by no means perfect but I call BS on these kind of unrefined complaints and I applaud BioWare for trying to change things up a little.

I'm all for politics, if it's done correctly. As for the action, you can want it and want to investigate, explore and plot, too. They aren't mutually exclusive as some seem to think. I honestly didn't see any intrigue. For all the talk about "The Game", I felt we saw very little of it--especially for the build up. Don't get me wrong, I really like this game, but this mission could have been implemented better and putting a loss of approval in it took away your from sense to explore. There were coins to find, statues to locate, nooks and crannies in the garden to check out and if Sera came along, Red Jenny stuff. I just think it could have been so much more.
I also didn't care for the way the choices played out when concerning the end.
/shrug Totally my opinion, but it just fell a bit flat to me. Maybe if I hadn't read the ME before I played it, I wouldn't have expected more. I am glad some enjoyed it, though. In spite of it's flaws, it did have some great moments.
