BioWare patched NWN more than 30 times. That's the sort of long-term support I'd like to see. Longevity is far more valuable than haste.

Yes and no. It depends on the complexity of the game and the level of readiness-at-release, but unless major game overhauls are done down the road the value of patches tend to be hit by diminishing returns. After the first handful of patches it should really be about additional content rather than fixing bugs - and additional content seems very likely to come in the shape of origin DLC rather than patching.

As for haste, by this time many things that on the PC-version seemed like glaring omissions at launch (lack of walk toggle, limited camera controls, limited inventory, the Skyhold "pyjamas" default outfit, etc) have already been fixed by modding to a point where there's worrying the patch might actually do more harm than good, breaking stuff that has already been handled.

This thread is interesting cuz you can literally see the binaries forming. One group is over the top with the negativity and then the over the top ass kissers arrive right on time.

Anyway, YAY BANTER FIX!

I'm with you, though I'll qualify by adding that I much prefer the negativity; things tend to move faster when people threaten to close their wallets. It's the sycophancy of the white knights that really grinds my gears. Their only motivation seems to be to silence complaints.

I was hoping they would fix the issues that made patch two worse for me. I had zero issues with lag or freezes before patch two and my pc is over rec specs. Since patch 2 I've had freezing, lag, crashes and an appalling memory leak issue in some cases. I was hoping for fixes for those issues. Guess I'll be waiting longer.

The complaints tend to be overwrought, and in response to them BioWare tends to overcorrect.

Unfettered complaints are dangerous.

I like your style.

I never could understand blind devotion and fans myself -also known in this case as Unpaid Public Relations EA Reps ('UPEAR')- even as a child.

Seems sometimes as if  BW fans have turned into some kind of Bieberites or sthg these days...

Exactly.

Has anyone bothered to go back to check the patch schedule for the earlier games? I venture they didn't come out much faster (if at all).

Lmao are people forgetting that most employees' vacations just finished a few days ago?

It's a good thing any patches have been released given that only a few people were working on it.

Lmao

Honestly, where are all these places with such a long holiday vacation and are they hiring?

No, most peoples vacations have not finished just a few days ago. Most people, unless they were lucky to string personal holiday time together, have been back at work for weeks. A lot of people are lucky to get an extra day off much less a month. Out of the people I know the one with the longest time off for the holidays was a week and most just got Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Years off. LAst eighteen years I've worked I've had three to five holidays for the entire year.

Fixed issue that could cause Varric’s legs to do odd things in some opt-in conversations.

I don't think I've ever laughed this much while reading patch notes.

First, if you are one of the senior employees, it's very possible that you have 4 weeks paid vacation per year (more in a few companies) so, yes it is possible for some of the DA team to still be on holiday, or have returned in the last week. Even though the peons can do a lot of the work, it needs the approval of the upper echelon before being released.

Second Bioware is not independent anymore, Bioware is a part of EA Games/Origin - enough said.

It's typical for BioWare to send teams on vacation right after release. They've just been through crunch, and they need a break.

Live in America. Only holidays I was guaranteed was Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. Some years I would also get the 4th of July and Labor Day off depending on scheduling. I had three weeks vacation. In 2011 we were bought out by a bigger company and we lost the 4th and Labor Day and were talking about half days for the others. Also only got two weeks of vacation and they would give you the stink eye when you asked for it.

I'm afraid to patch because of the last fiasco and so I'm locked out of my game by Origin until I do.  :(

Are there any guinea pigs here who have patched and can report no problems?

Still no changes to the UI and no improvements to the tactical combat?

Let's all remember that what kept NWN patching alive was Bio's invention of DLC. No Premium modules, no patches; they were quite explicit about that.

This patch sucks.

Bioware introduced a walk button and that means I'm gonna have to reconfigure my Logitech Gameboard. The company lied and my game is ruined.

I may even start a post about it.

Stupid Bioware's stupid patch.

Guinea pig here, reporting problems.

- all equipped shields had their armor value set to 0. might be just a cosmetic bug, might be a truly messed up stat.

- walk "toggle" only turns walking on, but not off. Must quit to menu and reload an old save to get back to running.

That's it so far.

This is just great. Especially since this is another "forced patch". You wanna play? You have to patch.

Yeah, offline-mode works. But last time I tried offline-mod I noticed a strange lack of music which returned when I switched back only. Bugs...bugs everywhere!

This patch is really a disapointment for me .. I just can't imagine what they have fixed. The fixes are okay but not that important what I had expected for.

I have a PC not a lunchbox so why the *calm sigh* do I have to play this game with a controller? And these graphic issue texture pop in 'cause the game is loading the environment. It's unbelievable what were they thinking ignore the feedback from pc gamers who have a high-end rig and the game runs like potato. :crying:

Nope I'm done it hurts to much how pc gamers get ignored and still no sign from BioWare like "Hey the patch three have just these kind of fixes, but there will be a next patch"

Same for me. Origin is keeping my game as a hostage, untill I yield and patch. I won't. This sucks because patching should be voluntary. I can still play with Origin offline but there goes the keep and sync. with the cloud.

Defending game=white knighting captain save a company

Shitting on game=Hero trying to make companies responsible for their own actions. Patriot and defender of truth. Master of what is quality and what is ****.
