It's not a matter of tanking it, it's a matter of going up to it, hitting it maybe twice and then immediately getting panicked for way too long.

Hence why he mention Dispel. You do know that Dispel / Spell Purge will end the effect and frequently interrupt the DC if timed right. Bring a support class with you and laugh in his face, yeah?

DC, in a LAN latency test environment is great. Real world restrictions, especially ones involving P2P environments, need to be considered and I hope whatever tweaks are in the patch address this shortcoming, specifically.

I think the real problem is that so many game devs cannot get off this obnoxious P2P system. It's never worked well, and no one likes it. Bioware has the backing of EA, whom has a massive server infrastructure. Hell, Bioware may even have their own servers for SWTOR (not sure if that runs off Bioware servers or EA servers).

In any case, the hardware is in place to eliminate P2P, but instead Bioware goes the cheaper route of using those servers only for matchmaking. It's a annoying trend that developers and publishers should start phasing out.

Yes DC isn't bad if you have 4 people that know what they are doing. When playing with PUGs you are lucky if one other person other than yourself doesn't suck.

This. DC is a joke 90% of the time. But if you play mostly PUGs (like I do), and get  stuck with three guys who all turtle in the antechamber in the. same. exact. spot, then it's over. I managed to solo the whole DC and half his mob spawns with a Keeper on Threatening once (which leads me to believe I could do it again), but those Wraiths start REALLY adding up when three people are down. One minor misstep and it's hard to claw back into winning form.

Still, I am a little sad to see a potential nerf.

Or even Grappling Hook.

I originally took the skill on my Katari for giggles, but I've really grown to like it and found that it can interupt the DC and break his whole cycle for about 10 seconds.

Hit it with him just before he goes underground and it will yank him up (rarely actually drags him to the Katari) and he'll go into "walk mode" for a while and you can pound on him. Then when he goes to fear, back up out of range and then hook him again.

Yeah, but does that mean you only play classes without a cc break when there's someone in your party with dispel (all of 3 classes) just in case you get demons? And even then, you have to hope they actually have the skill, which is often not the case with keepers/AW's.

As I've mentioned in another thread, we can still play Diablo II on Blizzard's dedicated servers 15 years later, if we want to, and it has no ongoing revenue whatsoever.

So really... no excuses, Bioware. No excuses.

That's always an option.

Based on the way the game works, I would say its better to have multiple classes on the go, and use whatever gets the best synergy with your current party, as opposed to "I am Katari, me smash!"

OR

If you do insist on playing your Katari when you don't have teammates who compliment him, learn to be self reliant. As others have said, learn to use your abilities better, spec for survivability as opposed to raw dps, and just use your head!

Your basically saying, "I use a class which is not optimized for 'solo' playstyle, I charge headfirst into a boss ability that will remove me from combat for an extended time, and now I'm complaining about it. Please make the fight easier so I can beat it simply by auto-attacking, instead of using team synergy" (you know, that thing the whole DA franchise is build around...)

If you have nothing to get you out of the fear, don't get feared!! Simple.

Instead of wasting time (& stamina) chasing down the DC just to get feared, go protect your ranged dps guys!! Smash the hell out of all the adds!

A well played Katari should be able to make mince meat of almost all the adds. And you can go on some crazy long kill streaks while your friends are busy focus firing on the boss.

>Tweaked the balance of the Demon Commander in multiplayer mode.

Seriously??! Well done BSN, your incessent whining instead of actually learning to play the damn game has payed off.

God forbid we actually have something challenging in this game.

...

They could have fixed his coming out of ground aura sign. That would be sufficient. I don't see it still 90% of the time despite heavily looking around. It is just glitching constantly. Also, panic too long, can be cut a little bit. Otherwise, he is fine.

What makes me most happy is the scalable mouse cursor. I'll make it big, really big. That would be one huge mouse cursor.

Dispel and Spell Purge have a multitude of other uses as well: Stripping barriers from Venatori Commander / Templar Horrors / Wraiths / Venatori Mages, Spellbinders, Rage, Despair Demons. Ending that nasty burning effect from Wraiths or Rage Demons. Removing Slow/Chilled from Fear and Despair Demons. Nullifying fire/ice/shock mines from Venatori Spellbinders/Mages.

I mean, have you really tried it out? Spell Purge / Dispel is amazing, and not just a CC breaker.

I am thinking now that I really should have put Dispel in my Keeper build guide instead of Disruption Field.

I'm not disputing the usefulness of the skill, I'm saying that I rarely see anyone use them. I've even seen a shockingly low number of templars that have had it.

Thank you, o wise one. I don't know what I would've done without your advice.

Re: bold part. That's not what i'm saying at all. But go ahead and take it that way if you want.

I should clarify, even when I do see templars that have it (still haven't seen any mages with it), I've rarely seen it used on teammates. And probably then, it wasn't always on purpose.

The only two fixes I would do on DC are:

1) Long cooldown once he pops. If he can synch kill with lag like a Banshee, then he shouldn't be able to run away the moment the other three people start laying into him.

2) Shorten the duration of his panic/ put panic on a separate cooldown from his running away move (DC is an utter coward, why would anyone be afraid of him, except that he runs away from a fight better than anyone in the game?)

Well crap because that means you haven't been playing enough, and that shows you know nothing about the game. Case closed.

Blame it on the pre-Christmas release schedule. DA:I is the biggest game I've ever seen. They deserved some time with their families.

We'll get over it. Life will still go on. In a few months, the delay won't have mattered.

You must be using a different calendar than me because even including time off for holidays there is plenty of time to work between mid Nov. and Christmas. I completely understand how the business works, but that is no excuse for a 6 week delay when the holidays cover 2 at most.

I'll be honest though, in a few months I'll have stopped playing DAMP entirely if Bioware continues this type of support. As for being the biggest game, well I have no complaints about the single player. Then again, Bioware didn't promise improved support for the single player.

You know I'd agree with all of you complaining about the DC nerf because it was challenging if you could always avoid his dugtrio. Yeh we get it, you can always avoid it doesn't mean it works for everyone. Sprinting and jumping doesn't always work. "It works for me everytime, it's not hard. You are just doing it wrong or bad." Sound a little elitist no? It couldn't possibly be buggy in this game right? You need to realise that just because you don't experience issues doesn't mean there aren't any. Most of the time I can avoid it but sometimes no matter what I do, he still gets me even when I'm not lagging. Something that is sometimes unavoidable should not be able to 1 hit kill you from full health.

The two most pressing issues in my view are the Region-Lock Matchmaking and the Eternal Black Screen on joining. None of them will be addressed, for me this patch makes little to no difference.
But if is helps the majority, it is something.
