The name "Mass Effect 4" is such a turn off. Why can't it be A** Effect?
Because Miranda isn't in it
I have become very wary of "THIS GAME IS SO BIG!!!!"
DAI has big maps but I can barely stomach getting through the single player. I never thought I'd say it, but I don't want to explore day and night, I just want to follow set pathways and play a fun MP like the days of ME3.
That means I have a whole year of ME3MP left.
How many pancakes a day do you think....

Mass Effect will no doubt be in the spotlight this year now that DAI's release is behind us. I'm not really all that crazy about the story-mode TBH. However, I can't wait to see what they've done with the multiplayer. If for some stupidly-crazy reason ME4 doesn't have MP, I'll pass without hesitation.
OTS? Sorry I'm slow to remember stuff sometimes, I need help lolNothing is confirmed until the lost prophet OTS returns and angers us with his heavily veiled riddles...

This.Literally the first line in the article is "The only thing Bioware has confirmed so far about the next installment in Mass Effect franchise is that it is currently in an advance stage of development and will feature a brand new lead protagonist."Might want to check on what 100% confirmed means. Just because an insider said it (regardless of how accurate they are) does not make it confirmed.
This.
According to the insider in that article: Mass Effect 4 will be big; more devs are working on it now that DA:I has been released; the devs are trying to make it the best game they can; they've not decided to give us the name yet; and it will be released in 2015 or 2016.
No offence to 'Shinobi' but if he genuinely has contacts in Bioware he should try actually getting some interesting, or at least new, information from them.
Agreed. As exciting as it is to read the phrase 'Mass Effect' and the number '4' written together, virtually everything we've learned so far is complete non-news (except for, perhaps, the Krogan sighting in the teaser)- it won't feature Shepard. Its going to be good. It'll be a sequel. If not, then a prequel. Or maybe unrelated to the ME trilogy story entirely. It'll come out in 2015. If not, 2016. If not, later.
Obviously nothing we couldn't have figured out on our own.

Meh.
This is the same recycled story that has been doing the rounds since for f*cking ever. I don't need an "industry insider" to tell me "ME4 is a thing" or "it's heavily weighted towards exploration" because the devs already stated that. Like, months ago. Ohh, very secret. Much wow.
Gaming journalism really has perfected the art of selling the same turd, time and time and time again. How about an actual name? Time period? Plot details? Nah, that stuff constitutes actual knowledge that couldn't be accessed by a 6 year old with access to Google.
It's gonna be bigger than dragon age inquisition in size and scale.
I see that as more of a cause for concern than a reason to jump on the hype wagon. Dragon Age: Inquisition was a good game, but it did have some significant flaws. One of those in my opinion, was that the partially open-world format with large explorable spaces, didn't always mesh well with a focus on story and characters. DA:I's storytelling felt a bit lacking compared to DA:O and even DA2, because the main quests were spread out between vast amounts of side quests where the story was light or nearly non-existant. The criticism that DA:I feels a bit MMOish and grindy at times, has some merit. I'd have much rather have seen smaller or less spaces to explore, but with more substance to some of the content filling those spaces.
So far I have not found the Skyrim infuence on the RPG market to be positive. I'll have to wait and see how the The Witcher 3 turns out, but if it has similar problems as DA:I I'm going to be a lot less excited for ME:Next as I was for ME2 or ME3.
I only care how big a challenge it will be to headbutt a dodging Asari.
Good article, but it's kind of hard to get excited about new games anymore. Not until I see the end product will I make a judgement. So many disappointments lately... ![]()
