Greets:

I'm an old school NWN player who used to play on an old PW called something "Tale of the Seven Dragons". I can't remember the name, but it was a pretty popular PW until NWN 2 came out.

I stopped playing around that time, but I had a craving to get back into NWN again and I figured I would try a PW with NWN 2.

So, what I'm generally looking for is a PW that actually has RP and PvP similar to the NWN PW I used to play. Unfortunately, I can only manage to find games where you have to ask or consent to engage in PvP activities. Which for me, is pretty lame.

I'm also looking for a PW that is newbie friendly and has some player activity.

If there are no good RP-PvP games, then no worries. I figured I ask.

Thanks,

Generally speaking the PWs that allow easy PvP have less role playing. Unfortunately not knowing what the RP & PvP was like on the PW you used to play on makes it quite hard to recommend anything.

Only one I can think of that caters for both is Baldur's Gate: The Sword Coast Chronicles. The most populated NWN2 PW, partly because it has less constraints than many, thus allowing for a greater range of playstyles. Certainly there are opportunities for RP. PvP has to allow for an IC out, but many are happy to PvP and there is a PvP club - fellow members agree to PvP at any time. Otherwise it is a very well run PW, and generally only suffers lags when large DM events are running, which is pretty impressive given the number of players. Lowish magic (+4 armor is rare and +4 to stats is mythical).

Fallen Empire is open to PvP, but there's not much RP and population is low and constrained to certain time zones.

Hi Famine! The DragonCoast team have just announced the launch of their new NWN2 PW which is going live on Friday Jan 30, and could be just what you are looking for! Here's a snippet from the introduction to the server:

"For the past two years, war has raged in the north. Following the assassination of the King of the Rhostmarch, his Kingdom has split in two as rebels from the eastern province of Pyrakre fight against the capitol in the western city of Rhegius. Meanwhile, shipments of weapons and other goods from the mountainous continent of Sariharkha in the south and troops from the vast deserts of the Golden Wastes in the east fuel the conflict.

In the center of this chaos sits Addercliffe, a former Pyrakrean naval outpost in the midst of a cultural revolution. Just off the coast of one of the world's largest unexplored jungles, the village of Addercliffe is a key stopover for trading ships bound for the Rhostmarch, and the nearby mainland has begun to reveal rich resources that may soon bring the conflict closer to home. As refugees from the north pour down into Addercliffe looking for a safe haven, the village is at a crossroads. Will the people of Addercliffe make the most of this opportunity and develop their new home into a true power in the region, or will they become yet another casualty in the conflict?

Welcome to Addercliffe."

OOC Information

DnD enthusiasts take note: DragonCoast: Intrigues of Addercliffe has no connection to the 'Dragon Coast' of Faerun or Forgotten Realms.

DragonCoast: Intrigues of Addercliffe is an original Neverwinter Nights 2 persistent world, run by a group of dedicated volunteers and oriented toward providing a high quality roleplaying environment. DragonCoast has been around for a number of years, and has welcomed in six separate eras, each set at a different point in history. Previously, DragonCoast has existed through Bioware's Neverwinter Nights, but Shores of Haldun saw the first move to Obsidian's Neverwinter Nights 2, and more recently Depths of Norhaven continued our presence in the community.

If you are interested in a roleplaying setting with heavy influence and activity on pvp, you can check out: http://dalelandsbeyond.forumotion.com/

Worth a try if you ask me.

Main trouble with DB is that it seems to be empty most of the time these days whenever I look. There has also been a history of infighting there over the years.
